  1. I absolutely agree w/ Gus. More rules... = less interest in participation. At least from me. W/ all the past arguments, fighting, and now more restrictions, I am trying to cut back. I have been in a building funk lately, and frankly, that puts my in "outcast" status here. I have indeed seen posts, not aimed to me, but just made in general. Like Gus said, if this place gets bunched up with more & more rules & regulations, then the "why bother" attitude sets in. At least to me it does. Many have posted some VERY good posts here. Really do not care those who quote a series of photos, just to make a short comment. Still think this model board rocks! But the interest... that wanes. Feel free to pick the appropiate emoticon.
  2. Finally bought this.... used a $20. gift card, so total cost to me was $4.99
  3. Yes. I am guessing (and going out on a limb here) that may... be a result of... OTHER FORUMS! Not just other model car forums. But stuff like, I dunno, water skiing, football, Bryers horses (why?) tap dancing, fart flaming, and many, many other forums. In other words, we are not alone here. Oh, and X-Files. Maybe software used by all those dumb things use the stars. Why can't they be normal... like us?
  4. To resize a pic for use as an avatar.... First, save it from your photo host.... to your hard drive. Then, open this: http://www.picresize.com/ Save that link to your Favorite Places so you can find it again next time. From Pic Resize dot com, you just follow the basic instructions. I am a professional computer illiterate, so I know about these things... It should work. For you. I hope. OH YES! One more helpful tip! When you resize you pic, be sure to RE-NAME it when you save it. Something you will remember later. Don't ask me how I know.
  5. To shrink down a photo (saved on your hard drive) for an avatar, try here- http://www.picresize.com/
  6. I just want to see if posting from Fotki is as easy as it was... I think that would be a "yes". When I open a photo in Fotki, there is a button above the photo that says "SHARE". Click it; several choices appear. I believe the top line says "Image URL for use on other sites". Click it. And that's it. It is copied. Paste as you normally do. Bake @ 350 for 10 minutes. Allow to cool.

    Hell Camino

This is... nice! Agree that it is 'just enough'.
  8. Just Google searching. Sometimes I pick a title or model, and search. I like collecting photos. It's a hobby. I was going to build a model of Miss Belvedere, but decided I would rather have a clean custom '57 or '58. Like so many others, it sits in the box with a good head start.
  9. The "lucky" winners... For my Miss Belvedere file, see: My link
  10. Get what? They had next to nothing! Much like others described.
  11. A Hobby Lobby just opened about a month ago in Manchester, NH. I don't understand how a store that is physically bigger than any Super Wal-Mart I have ever seen is such a disappointment model kit wise, but it is. No real loss... at the other end of that shopping plaza is a real hobby shop.
  12. Having heard the reputation of car dealers, especially back then, it's possible the old lady died from sleaze exposure from the salesman. Just a thought.
  13. On the top of the firewall... I see a raised spot in the middle, right at the base of the windshield. Perhaps stack up several layers of masking tape on the windshield... to prevent damage, and moto tool that bump. Other idea... buy small rare earth magnets, add to each rear corner.
  14. Take me out to the ball game... As I watch America’s favorite pastime (let’s say that is baseball), I was wondering if a model company was to build kits of North Americas favorite ballparks, do you think it would sell enough to cover the costs? As I picture it, the base would have to be at least 18” + in either direction. Would it have to be a Skill Level #1, or higher? Let’s say they start with four ballparks… would that work? Would this help bring in sports fans who normally not buy (or build) a model kit? Your thoughts?
  15. Jeez, Harry. You may just get us on this one! Photo is so rough, one could make a case (no pun intended) for either way. So I am voting model.
  16. Marcos, that is one sweet bird. You did good.
  17. Nice, showroom fresh Chevy! I assume you have, or had a car like this?
  18. Man, to live again in a time where each year brings a visual difference to each car! You rarely can tell the year of todays cars with a quick view.

    Mini One

    Nice job on the Mini!
  20. I remember seeing a similar 'toasted' Corvette in a model contest. The builder apparently wanted a 'victim' in the car, so they added a toasted human figure. Now I'm no CSI, but I never could figure out how a perfectly flat, prone victim could end up in the middle of a Corvette.
  21. If you scroll down the list that your post is on, you will find a thread called "What Did You Get Today?" That would be the best place for this.
  22. Where exactly are you? Boston? That's the Bunker Hill I know!
  23. My dad always said to me whenever I got a few dollars, "Money burning a hole in your pocket?"
