You GOT to be kidding. Next time I'm in East Stanistan, I'll show the photo of that around. How you find these... beyond me!

Wow! That is a fantastic build, Steve! I sold off that body to someone, I thought it was too much work, and the doner kit was expensive. Good stuff there!

That's nicer than the 1:1 my boss lets me drive! As for the headlights, every one of that vintage (199- to 2000) are now fogged over from hazy plastic lens. Plastic headlights on a model... no problem. Plastic headlights on a 1:1... problem.

microsoft office how to?
Jon Cole replied to John Pol's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Why not try PrintMaster v18, not the full version, but the CD? I bought mine @ Staples for under $10. American! Amazon has it now for $4.99 http://www.amazon.com/Encore-18930-PrintMaster-18-JC/dp/B002CMNUA6 It is easy to use. You can either upload a pic, or just copy & paste. Just beware... get this specific product! The company has since been sold, and their new stuff is not as good. Just follow the link above. -
Up to date license plates?
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks, Dave! -
A wild mid engine design like this needs a bright color, to 'make a statement'. Dark colors will hide the design.

Up to date license plates?
Jon Cole replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dave, I found that image before I posted. Maybe I wasn't clear. I want to make a plate... my choice of digits. Thus the request for "blanks". Sorry if I failed to express that. -
New AMT slicks set
Jon Cole replied to meaneyme's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm still waiting for them to arrive at the LHS. I ordered two sets. Should they be in stock by now? -
I need a source for up to date licence plate blanks, so I can make custom plates state by state. I already tried ACME, some of the designs (such as NY) haven't been updated in decades, or should I say, have up to date designs available. ACME not only doesn't have the current "Empire Gold" blank, they don't even have the previous blue over white design. Any suggestions? BTW, tho this is for model cars, it is also to help spot a bank robber... 2001 Acura (gray) NY reg. FPV9656

Hope you bounce right back from this, Bill. Best of luck. -
Model!

It looks to me like the resins side window lower lines are too high. That line should 'kick up' in the front, under the rear view mirror, and the corresponding rear pillar location; not kick up, but should be lower than the top of the rear quarters. I had passed the resins at contest vendor tables, now I am glad I did. Thank you to the OP for this post.

As Futurebat referred to, the worst judging by far has to be small hobby shop judging. It's usually a petri dish of subject ignorance and favoritism. Avoid them. As for the chassis & mirrors issue, I personally do not understand the host clubs fear of handling of models, much less the builders themselves. Has anyone ever broke a model at a contest? Oh, I am sure it has happened... but I have never seen it. Why is this such a big deal? You can break your 1:1 car by driving it... do you never drive it as a result? Accidents happen. And model contest accidents, like other accidents, are rare. I have to believe the judges are trying their level best to be as careful as possible models. Also, many shows here in the northeast ask on the registration if you, the builder, do NOT want the model handled. Just put a big 'X' in the box. Do so, however, and you run the risk of not being judged on hidden features. I should state that my opinions are not exclusive to the IPMS, as I have never competed in their contests. You can, however, get a good deal in the vendors area on a car model... a friend of mine bought a Porsche 914 by Revell for $10. Had I been in front of him, I would have found it first!

I never realized there was a model of the World Trade Center. Any details, such as brand, price, availability?

I am sorry to hear that, Bill. I have seen the damage here in my state, and neighboring Vermont. It is devastating. FEMA will eventually be in your area, be sure to sign up for assistance. You will most certainly qualify. Your unemployment offiice will probably be able to help you also to recover some lost wages. Good luck, man. We're thinking of you. -
Working 1/25 Engine, out of PLASTIC?
Jon Cole replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Take a piece of scrap plastic, say, a small length of sprue. About the size of a scale piston & rod. Now drop that into a small container of whatever you imagine as the fuel you would use. Now quote the Wicked Witch of the West.... "MELTING! I'M MELTING!" That is what would happen, somewhere inside the block or heads. -

Your photobooth isn't too small, your model is too big! Nice job on that!
