  1. Haha.....5 coats.
  2. I gave the paint and gloss 5 coats but it may have been to light.
  3. Love the new white and the wheels. Yeah....who needs a stinkin hood anyway ☺
  4. Not my best work and boy did this one kick my back side. Other than the engine nothing in this kit wanted to fit right and the paint didn't turn out very good. Couldn't even get the body to fit the frame very well. I guess that's why I like trucks, the body and bed just set straight down on the frame. The battery fell in one of the sticky mouse traps the wife set out and it started to eat the plastic. I didn't do as much detail work as normal as this kit as it was really starting to get to me and that's always been one of my down falls.....no patients but I'm trying to work on that. Don't beat me up to bad on the comments fellows.
  5. Ok.....this kit kicked my butt so I'm done. From the beginning there was a lot of flash and the parts didn't fit well and it continued all the way through the build to the final assemble of the bumpers. Pics will be posted in "Under Glass".
  6. The headers look pretty good. Yeah....color?
  7. Mike, I used Anits's Glossy Black acrylic paint and clear coated it with Rust-Oleum Gloss.
  8. Yeah it looks like vinyl to me. The spoon test came out good so I don't know what happend.
  9. Thanks guys. It acually looks worse in the pics but I'm still not satisfied. I may strip the polish off the body today and try wet sanding and see what happens. If that doesn't work I'll strip the body and start over. This is a learning process for me at something I'm not very good at.
  10. Ok....just got through with the body. All I did was polish it twice with NOVUS 2. I just slipped it on the frame to take pics. It looks ok but I was expecting better results. You guys tell me what you think.
  11. Thanks for the info.
  12. Nice looking. The pipes look killer.
  13. Shaun, I've been thinking about this as well. I pulled out some small paper clips that look about the right size for the linkage just haven't figured out how to make the brackets to connect to the carbs. I'm sure there is some aftermarket parts that could be bought but I'd like to try it on my own with what I have on hand first. Hopefully someone will post a pic of what they have come up with.
  14. Welcome Mark. I retired last year and got back into the hobby. Boy has it changed.
  15. Thanks for the info guys and good explanation Steven. Your 60 Merc looks pretty good. How did you go about polishing your Merc and what polish did you use?
  16. My first post shows the spoon I painted that was wet sanded.
  17. I think Mike mentioned to me something about HOT Pink. I could be wrong .
  18. That looks sharp. Love the old glasses.
  19. I built the amt 1950 Chevy pickup to look like my 49. I bought aftermarket Torque Thrust wheels to match mine and put a BB 396 in to replace the inline 6. This was my first build and it didn't come out a good as I would have liked. I plan on building another down the road to redeam myself.
  20. Thanks dude. Yeah I would'nt have painted my 49 that quick. I have an 5.3 LS in my 49.
  21. Thanks for the comment. I just figured if it works on my 49 it should work on the Chevelle.
  22. It looks pretty good looking through my eyes man.
  23. I get you dude. This is what I've used on my full size 49 Chevy 5 window pickup for years and it works great. The Polish repairs the surface and the wax protects and shines the surface. Polish helps with small scratches, spots, etc. I always polish my truck before I wax it. If this process is different on plastic model then I stand corrected.
  24. Thanks Dan. Here's the color on the body. Tomorrow I'll wet sand, Polish, and Wax. Hoping it comes out like my test spoons did. Just as a note....I don't have a pray both so I painted this outside my garage and it was a little windy today.
  25. I hear ya Dave and thanks. This craft paint drys pretty fast but I give it 24 hrs. 24 hrs on the Rust-Oleum Gloss as well. At least on my test spoons it worked out ok that way.
