  1. Update. I was initially thinking the painted spoon with the Rust-Oleum Gloss had the least shine so I thought, what the hell, it's been about 20 min so lets shoot it reallllllllly heavy and see what happens. Man oh man does it now look better than the other 2 plus it can still be wet sanded but that's something I'm still experimenting with. If this looks as good tomorrow I think that's my huckleberry. These 2 pics were taken about 5 min after they where sprayed.
  2. Ok....did a little testing this morning. I had 3 spoons primed (rattle can) from yesterday with Rust-Oleum flat gray primer. Here is the 3 test I performed. I took 2 pics of the spoons after paint only inside the garage and outside in the sun. The same with the paint-gloss pics. Tell me what you fellows think about which finish coat looks the best. I'm pretty sure I know which one I'm going to use. Note: The last 2 pics are with the finish coat. 1) Spoons primed with 1 coat of Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra flat gray primer and sat for 24 hrs. 2) I thinned the Anita's Glossy Red paint with Windex 50/50 and mixed. 3) I airbrushed all 3 spoons with 2 light coats then 2 medium coats letting it flash between coats an let the parts set for 30 min covered with a plastic tub. 4) The last 3 coats were heavy to make sure I was getting enough paint on the spoons. 5) I let the parts set for 30 min and airbrushed one spoon with Rust-Oleum 2X Gloss Clear, one spoon with Tamiya Clear, and the 3rd spoon with Pledge Revive it. Each spoon was sprayed with 3 medium/heavy coats with a flash time of 2 min between coats. 6) 20 psi while airbrushing the paint and 18 psi when airbrushing the Pledge and Tamiya Clear. 7) The Pledge was not thinned for airbrushing but the Tamiya Clear was thinned with lacquer thinner 50/50.
  3. I know what you mean Casey. The owner of one of our local hobby shops is a good friend of mine and he was sent the paint racks for the new Tamiya lacquer in bottles almost 2 years ago. Tamiya keeps saying the paint is coming. They now say June or July. The didn't say what year ☺
  4. Yup, just haven't built enough models yet to have a good stash.
  5. Haha....just bought that one from a fellow on this forum. Hopefully have it by the end of the week.
  6. JC....I have seen those but they just don't turn my crank. They are kool looking but they are just not striking my fancy so to speak. I'm in no hurry as I still have two kits on the bench. Thanks though.
  7. Thank's Trevor. Probably not something I would want then. Wish Revell would come out with some NEW Gassers.
  8. I started out learning to drive in the neighbors 1956 Chrysler that had the push button transmission. My first car was my grandfathers 1957 Studebaker.
  9. Thanks for the info dude. Since I'm fairly new to the hobby just what is a reissue? Would that be using the old molds to produce another run of the same model?

    MBG GT

Looks pretty sharp and I like that color. Nice build.
  11. Looks like there are a lot of good deals and idea's out there for measuring/mixing cups. I didn't have to go out and buy mine so I'm a happy camper.
  12. Any updates on the 51 Henry J Gasser release?
  13. Correct me if I'm wrong fellows but I'm seeing this as a new release (future) for 2021.
  14. Has this kit been release yet?
  15. Dave, the site looks much cleaner and bright. Nice job.
  16. Just out of habbit I guess. I've always used the Asterisks on other forums I'm on and it just makes it easier for me to find my post.
  17. I had been going to the Dollar Tree buying the small red dixie cups for a buck and thought that was a good deal. I would cut them down about half way and they worked fine. This morning the wife ask me if I could use these medicine cups for anything out in the garage. I think they came with the cough syrup my wife uses and boy were those the right size to mix paint in and even has the measuring lines on the side.
  18. Thanks man. "Brain Fart".....I get them all the time ☺
  19. Nice build. Love the old Comets.
  20. Dave, I looked up the black paint you used and I'm seeing the Tamiya X4 as a blue acrylic???
  21. Welcome and we all like pics so lets see that 55 pickup.
  22. Welcome and nice looking Vette.
  23. Nice build. Detailing, BMF, and color look great.
  24. Super clean build man. Interior looks great and nice detail work in the engine bay. I have been wanting one of the Russ Davis t-bolts and will get one down the road.
  25. Dave, sorry to hear about your wife. The color looks great and you'll get things sorted out.
