Batmobile
Pierre Rivard replied to Pierre Rivard's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
Thank you for following Trevor. A bit of hit and miss along the way but it is finally coming together. I adore the E9 BMW and love group 5 racers, so I had to come up with a way to build this car. About time man... just kidding. I am honored that you took the time to cover my journey. When I finally found the Otaki (which was the one I really wanted) I was sure it was a 1/20 scale kit in a 1/24 box. Nope, it was the Airfix that was grossly undersized. Live and learn... Thank you sir. Support much appreciated. -
Impressive transformation Mark. I too missed out on the HRM trans kit so I will be following your build with great interest.

Completely agree. These two items are the must do for this kit. The rest is just me not being capable to keep it simple. -

You know your penmanship coulda got you a free pass to medical school. They looked at mine and just laughed me off the property...😂 -
Beautiful Ken, and that color is so right for this car. The way you painted the interior really does look like brown leather. Excellent stuff!

A really good match to your reference picture. beautiful fabrication as always Andy. I'm intrigued by this design. Looks like a classic leaf sprung live axle but with this added 'thingy' articulated to the frame and attached to the diff. Fancy Italian Panhard bar? -

Thank you guys. Now that the chassis is all done I have turned my attention to all the components needed to complete the body and the final phase to follow will be completion of the interior. -
Tamiya 1976 Porsche 934 RSR Turbo

Very nice build Jim. Iconic car & livery well rendered. I built this one last year and just like you found the black trim to be a challenge to paint but other than that it is a very nice kit. -
Monogram's 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car: Finished
Pierre Rivard replied to David G.'s topic in Model Cars
A wonderful build David and the journey was not an easy one but taking a simple period kit and turning into this masterpiece must be very rewarding. I knew the Batmobile was built off this car but never realized the extent of the modifications were made until I saw the pictures you posted of both cars. I think the original Futura is a much better design and I love your replica of it. Well, well well done sir! -
Wow. Looks like it just came off the track after a hard fought battle. The added detailing, all the paint finishes and weathering are fabulous. Your model oozes realism. Amazing replica!

And now we have a completed chassis. Chassis pan painted smoke black wit a bit of flat aluminum mixed in. metal components are various tones made from mixes of aluminum, black and gold, then oiled earth washes. Front and rear cradle & suspension elements black with a semi gloss clear over them. -

No more flames with today's super optimized & hybridized powertrains. New race cars even smell good...or smell nothing at all. Progress? I take no credit, stole the idea from someone else... Go ahead and copy them, take some of the guilt off my shoulders... -
Such a beautiful car and I love how you gave this old kit a new life and created a more accurate replica of this "could have been" great race car. A good history lesson because I did not know about the Ford F3L/P68 3 liter prototype program. Too bad Ford did not fully invest in the program. Thank you sir for taking us on that journey.

Doing a bit more chassis fabrication. Exhaust made with with Evergreen 2.0 mm rod, 3.2mm rod or tube, 0.25x1.5 flat. Brake cooling ducts made from 3.2 mm rod with string and plumber's tape wrapped around. -

More curves on this Riviera's rear bumper than we see on a whole car nowadays. I like curves... -

Amazing that you could peel off all the decals without tearing off any of them. The red/black/white combo is really nice. -

Thank you Brian. Lot's of work but I enjoy it and happy to see the parts from various sources (or fabricated) cooperating well. These pictures are a must because the Otaki kit, other than the body, is not representative so these pictures are my source for fabrication. Certainly not perfection my friend but I am attempting to add some realism to this replica. Challenging but I really enjoy the task. -
