  1. And when you are both patient and skilled you can do stuff like your's Mr. Himmel.
  2. The formidable Mercedes Benz SSK. The last Mercedes engineered by Ferdinand Porsche was produced from 1928 to 1932. Only 33-37 were built and more than half of them went racing. The car is most famous in it's SSKL (for Super Sport Short Light) guise winning the 1931 Mille Miglia. There were some variations on the body configuration (mostly fender treatment), mainly a Touring & Sport styles and sometimes a combination of elements from both. I plan to do a racing version of this car (as many of them were) but the body configuration is open for discussion. Suggestions from forum members are most welcome. The starting point is the old Lindberg kit but I aim for a more "racy and somber" look. So nothing started yet, at this point showing some possibilities and accepting input from other builders.
  3. And if you still have a lifeline I suggest tou call Albert
  4. A challenging build, just like a challenging relationship can take it's toll. So after the head scratcher BMW 3.5csl I needed something smooth and easy, something Out of Box. Call it a rebound build? Hasegawa provided the perfect remedy, the lovely Lancia Stratos kit. I built it without a single change, I even followed the instructions...
  5. Thank you Francis. Forgot to mention there was a WIP on this one. Thanks Ace. Nothing earth shattering in the WIP, other than dumping the first body after working on it for 2 weeks...
  6. I think we lost oldcarfan. While we're spinning around he just moved on...
  7. Thank you for stopping by Daniel. Not my cleanest build but happy considering the extent of work needed here. Only the body was used from the kit and everything else was either substituted or scratch built. Time to move on to the next project, another oldie kit in need of TLC...
  8. This is splendid. Your replica looks EXACTLY like the full size vehicle. Incredible mastery of scale modeling.
  9. Aah, a good check list. You only need that when scratch building or extensive modifications. I miss that already. Doing a OOB build and bored to death... Love your dedication to this chassis my friend. It's great.
  10. It's definitely a new world with CAD design and 3D printing capabilities but when I look at the engine compartment I am floored by the level of realism accomplished by your impeccable painting, weathering and detailing. So it is the best of both worlds: artistry combined with new fabrication technologies. Simply superb.
  11. Indeed the Nostalgia Dragster is unbelievable. I could look at it a thousand times and still find delightful details to wonder at. You are a perfectionist and that will come with the occasional doubt and bouts of analysis/paralysis but your current work on Badman shows that you are finding your balance, i.e. accept 98% perfection. Your 98% equals 1098% for us mere mortals. Your stuff is out of this world awesome and concentrated pure pleasure to follow.
  12. Hi Gary, I have a good digital camera but ended up using my iPhone as I find it makes equally good pictures and has easy to use post processing filters. I have a XR iPhone (similar to your 11). I shoot adjacent to a window plus a lamp with 3000k led bulb as a second angle light source. I usually stand about 18 inches away and zoom in a bit, then use the post processing filters integrated to the iPhone to make finesse adjustments (usually just adding a bit of exposure and contrast). That's my easy setup. Not super sharp but I believe a good method for forum posts. Posting a couple of photos for reference & discussion
  13. Came out great Tim. Looks rich with details despite the small scale. Well done sir!
  14. The front clip on this baby is really great, like the rest of this chassis. Scratchbuilding extraordinaire. Always tricky to choose when to paint the body as we want to minimize handling after that. Oh well.... back to the paint booth.
  15. The rear view shot with the visible engine is awesome. Hope there's no plan to add a cover to hide that beast.
  16. A real beauty Dave and quite refreshing to see it in blue. It seems like everything you build is something I'd like to build, but I don't have a Phil. Still always a pleasure to watch each of your unveilings. Keep them coming sir!
  17. Beautiful build Kapo. The color you chose is a really good fit for this design. I'm just about to start this one and your's will be a good reference to follow. How did you handle the gauges (there are no decals for them)?
  18. The still looks even better now. Careful about the dime thing, Francis might have a patent on that, but his dime has the Bluenose on it. Might be different enough to save you from a lawsuit but better check with the attorney. I like you both so please keep me out of this feud. 😃
  19. I am so fortunate to have a fantastic hobby store just minutes away. Model kits, trains, planes and lots of various supplies. Just like 1975!
  20. Definitely one to follow Michael. Gilles was also my favorite driver and I was lucky to be on site when he won his first race in Montreal (1978). The 126 C2 is a beautiful race car and taking this on at 1/43 scale will be challenging for sure.
  21. Thank you Chris. I enjoyed it very much and now looking for older group 5 racing car kits.
  22. Bonjour Francis, Andrew's advertisement of your work has earned you another fan. I rarely check out the drag racing posts but I just finished reading the whole 30 pages of your's. You do amazing fabrication and the pursuit of accuracy even into hard to see components is remarkable. This is next, next level scale modeling and truly sensational. I just work on a small table with my styrene and paint brushes, never will I ever be able to do 10% of what you do but still, this is so inspirational. Pierre (Montreal)
  23. Another gorgeous build from your productive factory Rich. At a time when all the attention was on the outrageous Countach this one was a bit overlooked, a shame because it is so beautiful. Darn you Chernosky, now I have to add this one to my build list. Will you slow down man! 🥴
  24. That thing at the front with the curly copper pipe... is that a still? We should never drink and drive.... but you know... in between runs. 🥴
  25. It is a cool subject. The build needed many upgrades to give it a more realistic look but I was lucky to start with a well proportioned body. I really enjoy these types of challenges.
