  1. Thanks Carl. But I think I have bitten off more than I can chew. Probably putting it all back in the box because I don't know what I'm doing. Can't use the slicks after lowering the rear because they are too wide and hit the body. I can fix that with some different tires, but I wanted to get the body lower so I cut off the rear tank and thought I'll just put on a moon tank, big mistake. I got the body lower but now I have to do something with the interior to make it fit. I also broke the front axle trying to get it lowered. Haven't looked in my parts box yet, but I don't think I have another one. I'll take a few days off and think it over.
  2. Looking good. Nice work.
  3. Thanks. I'm not sure. I was looking through my parts box and found them, but don't remember what kit they are from.
  4. Got a little more done on the beetle.
  5. Thank you.
  6. Looking good. Paint looks really nice.
  7. I've always like baby moons, so digging further in the parts box I came up with this. I think this is the way I'm going. I'll paint the rims body color which I have not decided on yet. I don't know if you would call this West coast style or East coast style, but moon caps were popular here in South Georgia in the 60's. The front tires are from the Revell 66 Fleetside kit. Not sure where the Racemaster slicks are from.
  8. Thanks Joe.
  9. Found a couple of Holly 4 barrels for the Hemi. Have not decided on the wheels and tires yet, but this is one option.
  10. Thanks Bob. Thanks Chaz. Thanks Carl.
  11. Got the pink on it. I'll give it a few days before I put on the Tamiya X-22 clear.
  12. I built this about 7 or 8 months ago. It was dropped then kicked and of course a lot of parts fell off. I just threw it back in the box, I never liked the way it came out anyway. So I am going to get out of my comfort zone and do something different with it. I'm in the process of stripping the paint now, I have Z'd the rear of the frame following Ace-Garageguy's tutorial in the tips section. I have also trimmed the spring perch on the front to get the front a little lower. I have three engine choices, the original Ford I first built, a 4.6 Liter from a 97 Mustang GT and a Hemi. Since I like Hemi's that is my first choice. Haven't looked at my wheel and tire choices yet, or what color I'm going with. This is something I'm going to try and work on while doing other builds, so may be a long time project or may end up not finished at all. Right now I'm working on a VW Beetle for my wife.
  13. Got the engine done. Lots of small parts.........
  14. Thanks. Thanks Carl.
  15. Thanks David Thank you Mario. Thanks Joe.
  16. It's looking great Bob. I really like that gun metal color, fits perfect with the Merc.
  17. Beautiful green. Looks great. Engine looks great also. Is that the kit carb? Nice work.
  18. Hope to get it painted this week. Started on the engine and there are a lot of small engine parts, and seems like each one has 2 or 3 different colors on them.
  19. Thanks Steve. Thanks Bob.
  20. Thanks Steve. Yours looks really nice. I did notice how small some of the parts are, I'll need to take it slow with my bad eyesight and shaky hands. I do plan to wire the distributor and was looking at some images online to see where the heck the spark plugs were.
  21. My wife has always liked the VW beetle. Last week when I went to HL for the 40% off week she ask me to get one and build it for her. I said well I've never seen a beetle kit at HL. But when I got to HL there it was, a 68 VW beetle. They must have just got some in. So here I am about to start the build. I ask her what color she wanted it, she said pink, so I ordered some Tamiya X-17, should be here today. I know nothing about the VW beetle so I'll be winging it. If anyone has built this kit let me know of any problems I need to watch out for. All comments are welcome, and thanks for looking.
  22. Thank you. Thanks Mike. Thanks Bob. Thanks Carl. Thank you David. Thanks Chaz.
  23. Calling it done. Photos under glass.
  24. Thanks. The kit went together well. I built the interior as a unit including the dash outside the body then installed it in the body. That's basically what I did. But I built it as a unit outside the body.
  25. Mostly OOB build. I did change out the wheels and tires, and added plug wires. The stance is a little wider than I wanted, but I'm satisfied with the way it came out. Paint is Testor's Gloss Teal enamel, cleared with Tamiya x-22 acrylic. Interior is Rustoleum bright coat. This is a fun kit, goes together well. I had no real problems except the instructions showed adding the interior panels for the B version onto the frame before adding the body which didn't work for me. I finally got it together by building the entire interior frame including the dash outside the body then installing as one unit into the body. All comments welcome and thanks for looking.
