  1. Thanks Carl. But I had a mishap with the paint that has slowed me down. I was painting the trim with a Molotow pen and somehow smeared some on the body. I tried lightly getting it off with alcohol on a swab, but it smeared the paint. I didn't want to take the time to strip it and repaint so I just sanded it off and sprayed some more red over it. It doesn't look too bad and you have to look close to notice anything, so I'm going with it. The glass really gave me fit also. It's a one piece for the front and back and did not fit well at all. I cut it in half and got the back to fit good, but the front windshield still doesn't fit right. Trying to correct it so I can finish this up, I'm ready to get started on that 57 Chevy Pro Street I'm working on.
  2. Thanks Carl.
  3. Thanks Chaz. Don't know if I can get that stance to stay. Thanks Bob. Just noticed the photo is not accurate. The white balance on the camera made it look blue. It's actually a teal green, but it still looks pretty good as is. Here's a corrected photo.
  4. Going to try some kit bashing. I'm messing kits up anyway may as well do two at a time. Going to try and use the 67 Chevelle chassis on the 57 Chevy Bel Air HT. Seems to fit fairly well after some hacking on it, still need to do some more fitting. The 57 interior seems to work well with it also. I'll probably use the Chevelle engine if it works out. The 57 colored plastic looks pretty good, may just shoot some clear on it, not sure yet. I've got some other colors in mind. Need to finish up the 70 Chevelle first.
  5. Thanks Greg. They are the stock wheels for the Chevelle that came in the kit. I painted the centers black and the photos are too dark so the detail is lost. This is what they should look like.
  6. LOL.........could be, but it only affected the one kit, but I have now cured it by removing the bad parts, stripping the chrome and painting them with bright coat metallic.
  7. Yea, I'm blaming the kit because I have no problem with other finished builds on the same shelf.
  8. Rolling chassis.
  9. The 454 is ready to go............
  10. Thanks Bob. Thanks Mike.
  11. Thanks Chaz. Thanks Carl.
  12. 40% off 2 weeks straight at HL? I was there last week and picked up a kit at 40% off and now see it's still on this week. Next week would be the scheduled week for it, wonder if it will continue, maybe through the holidays?
  13. I think so too....I'll put some clear on it in a few days.
  14. I will use the custom engine, most everything else will be stock. I don't like the custom wheels that comes with it. On the side note, yes we do.
  15. Up next for me to mess up............70 Chevelle SS. Going with Tamiya red on this one.
  16. Looks great. Nice work.
  17. Sweet looking Nova. That blue looks great.
  18. Looks great. Nice work.
  19. Thanks Bob. Thanks Joe. Thank you. Thanks Chaz. Back in the day we would jack up the back and front like that, but this one needed to be a little lower in the front with a little rake to it.
  20. The fast and furious movie Charger, but instead of painting it black I went with Tamiya light blue. The build went good until it came time to put frame and body together. It would not fit, the front is way too high and I couldn't figure out what is wrong. Tried getting the frame to fit further into the body, but it would not go. The radiator frame was was all the way to the body and it wasn't going further. Don't know what happened unless I put it in wrong, but I don't think I did. The firewall top was at the body and on the frame so it wasn't going further either. At least I think I'm improving my painting. Anyway here it is. Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.
  21. Calling it done. This build was going along good until the end when it was time to put frame and body together. It would not fit. The front is way too high and I can't figure out what's wrong. It's as far as it will go. At least I think I'm improving on my painting. Thanks all for the comments. I'll post some pics in under glass.
  22. Going body color with this one. Thanks Mike. Thanks Carl.
  23. 5 window.......
  24. I use a base dremel and never had a problem with it being too fast or melting the plastic, but the trick is to use the battery only partially charged and run it on low.
  25. 1951 Chevy Bel Air. I was born in 51 and I remember my Dad having a 51 Bel Air in the mid to late 50's. Don't remember much about it, but do remember it being a 3 speed on the steering column. I think it was black.
