  1. I've used Rustoleum 2x primer under Createx and it worked well. I've also used the Createx Autoborne Sealers under their paints and it works very good.
  2. Thanks all. Got the paints I need, but the weather is too cold to get started on it. My work shed is not heated.
  3. Thanks all. I finally finished it. Didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but at least I did finish it. Photos under glass.
  4. Finally finished the Chevelle. Didn't turn out as good as I wanted. Had a lot of problems with it.
  5. Christmas gift from my son. It will be a challenge for this old gear head...........
  6. Thanks Mike. I'm going to try it. Been watching some videos on doing the camo paint and I think I can pull it off. Thanks.
  7. I'm mostly a gear head, but I do like the old military warbirds. I've decided to take a break from the car kits and try a aviation kit. I chose this one because it seems like a simple one to start with and it was cheap. I'm waiting on some paints before I get started on it. Comments welcome.
  8. Thanks Bob. Thanks Chaz. Thanks Mario. Thanks David. Thank you. Thank you Carl. Thank you David.
  9. I used the chassis and engine from the 67 Chevelle kit to build this 57 into a pro street. Had to do some hacking on the front fender wells of the chassis to make it fit, also had to cut a hood opening for the tall intake on the engine. Paint is Testors Metallic Purple enamel in the small bottle. Came out ok I guess, the decals for the rear panel area broke with me so I just left it as is. I could have painted the area silver, but since there is no detail there I thought it would look best to leave it body color. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome.
  10. Ok, calling it done. Came out ok I guess. The decals for the rear panel area broke with me. I could have painted it silver but since there is no detail in there I decided it would look best just to leave it as body color. Thanks for the comments. More photos under glass. It's getting too cold to spend much time at the bench in my shed so I'll be taking a couple weeks off, but been thinking about building a military aircraft kit, so may give that a try. I've been having problems with the last 3 or 4 auto kits I've built, maybe time for a change.
  11. Thanks Mike. Thanks Carl.
  12. Beautiful 57. Nice work.
  13. Had to open up the hood for the tall intake on the engine. Still need to finish up the body and interior and do a little touch up, but I like the way it's looking.
  14. Thanks Jim. Thanks Bob. Thank you Chaz.
  15. Got a rolling chassis. To make the Chevelle chassis work under the 57 I had to remove some of the fender wells. Got paint on the body using Testor's Purple Metallic enamel.
  16. Thanks Bob.
  17. Looking good Bob. The wheels look great.
  18. I tried this and it went on too thick and runny. The rustoleum 2x I was using beat it hands down.
  19. Working on the engine.
  20. Very nice. Great job.
  21. I know what you mean Mike. This was a ill fitting kit to begin with, add in my aging eyes and shaky hands just adds to the problem. I'll finish it sooner or later, may not be as good as it could be though.
  22. More problems. Back in the box for right now, I'll try to get back on it later.
  23. That is a beauty Mike. Great job. My first car was a 66 also but it was the Impala SS with the 325hp 396 and Muncie 4 speed. Had a lot of fun with that car, cruising the back roads of South Georgia and I would take it to the local drag strip for Saturday night grudge matches.
  24. The top on mine is smooth, but I do have that same thing around the back window. I'm not a body man, so it will have to be as is. But I think I'm going to paint it a different color, just not sure what yet.
