  1. Engine is about ready, need to wire the plugs, install pulleys and headers. Got some paint on interior parts, Tamiya X-71 Cockpit Green.
  2. Looks like it took some skills, and a lot of patience IMO. I admire you guys that can do that stuff, but I would be out of my comfort zone trying it right now.
  3. Thanks Carl. I appreciate that.
  4. That's cool. That type weathering is beyond my ability.
  5. Thanks Joe. Thank you. Thanks Mike. It was a fun build.
  6. Taking a break from car models I decided to try a military plane. I chose this one because it looked simple and it was cheap. I have since found out that 1/72 scale is too small for me, bad eyes and shaky hands. It came out ok I guess but needs improvement. I need to improve my camo painting. I did try to weather it a little but need to improve that also. The canopy was so small I couldn't mask it and tried just hand painting it, didn't turn out good and I couldn't get it to sit right on the plane. I have a 1/35 Academy AH-!Z Viper helo I got for a christmas gift and also a Revell 1/48 P-51D. I'll decide which one I'll tackle next after I finish a 29 Ford Model A Roadster I'm working on. All comments welcome, and thanks for looking.
  7. Ok, I'm calling it done. Came out ok I guess, needs improvement. I certainly will be moving up in scale. Thanks for all the comments. Putting a couple of photos under glass.
  8. Going with Tamiya X-26 Deep Green.
  9. Thanks Bob, that's what I had in mind.
  10. This will be my first auto build for 2023. Already have 2 on the shelf. Thinking of going with some type of green on this one, maybe a military color.
  11. Looking good Bob. Love the paint.
  12. Went to Hobby Lobby today, I was wanting the Monogram 55 Chevy Street machine and they had it. Then I saw this Revell Mustang P51D ( my favorite old warbird) in 1/48 scale and had to get it also. I guess now I'll be getting cars and aircraft every Hobby Lobby trip.
  13. Thanks Joe. I know what you mean, I'm 71 with bad eyes and shaky hands. I can see now that 1/72 scale is going to be too small for me. That helo is a really nice kit, lots of detail, I think it will be a fun build, even has a PE fret with it. It will probably be the first of Spring before I start on it. I'm still a gear head first and have a few auto kits I want to get built.
  14. Finally got started working on it. Man these parts are small. I got the helo for a christmas gift and it looks to be a really nice kit. And it's a little bigger at 1/35 scale.
  15. Thanks to all for the comments.
  16. I've used Rustoleum 2x primer under Createx and it worked well. I've also used the Createx Autoborne Sealers under their paints and it works very good.
  17. Thanks all. Got the paints I need, but the weather is too cold to get started on it. My work shed is not heated.
  18. Thanks all. I finally finished it. Didn't turn out as good as I would have liked, but at least I did finish it. Photos under glass.
  19. Finally finished the Chevelle. Didn't turn out as good as I wanted. Had a lot of problems with it.
  20. Christmas gift from my son. It will be a challenge for this old gear head...........
  21. Thanks Mike. I'm going to try it. Been watching some videos on doing the camo paint and I think I can pull it off. Thanks.
  22. I'm mostly a gear head, but I do like the old military warbirds. I've decided to take a break from the car kits and try a aviation kit. I chose this one because it seems like a simple one to start with and it was cheap. I'm waiting on some paints before I get started on it. Comments welcome.
