I was at hobby lobby and saw the new revell 81 Camaro Z28. I didn't pick it up but when I got home I regretted it. However I looked online and it's a snap kit with plastic tires even though the box doesn't say snap Anyway it got me thinking, which is the best available building quality kit out there for that generation of Camaro. I prefer the Z28 look. I'm also looking for one that can be built as stock like you would have been able to get at a dealership

MrMiles replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven't seen this kit at hobby lobby yet but I was able to find a couple of others that I liked on sale 40% off. I drove to the one about 45 minutes away and they had better stock -

build quality of the AMT Dodge D50?
MrMiles replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
around the year 2000 they were about 15 dollars for a revell or amt kit. the tamiya kits were higher. that is 26 dollars in today's money. that is where it probably should be, especially for kits that are older than me with no detail, and some of them hardly fit together without modifications. i get that things need to increase in price, but even just a few years ago they were significantly cheaper. i dont mind paying top dollar for a quality kit. many of what they are remaking are not very good, which is why i had to create this original topic, to see if the kit is junk or one that is ok. which as someone earlier commented, is sad that it even needs to be asked -

well my local hobby lobby is pretty bad. i havent gone there in a year or so, and i went last night and they had basically the same kits they had 1 year ago. there was a couple of new kits, maybe like 3 of them. i had a long list of kits that i liked that came out end of last year or this year, and they only had one of them, and when i looked at it in person, i realized it wasnt one i really wanted. i still cant get over how expensive kits go. 40 dollars for a basic repop kit. i can no longer buy a kit that i like, its going to need to be one that I really love. -

My wife and I went to the Jurassic park live show. It was good. Definitely meant for young kids but we didn't know it ahead of time. If anyone has kids or grandkids that enjoy dinosaurs,I would recommend it. I probably would not recommend it for adults alone. I guess unless you love dinosaurs. My wife loves the movies and thought it was very focused for kids We had floor seats

modeling stuff to do / see during a US visit
MrMiles replied to eran_k's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
there are not a lot of hobby stores in the general area that deals with models. there is a hobbytown in toms river nj. they are ok with decent stuff, but they dont focus on models. its not worth the trip all the way there if you are in the cities of philly or manhanttan. its not really close to either. there are a ton of hobby lobby in the area. they have model stuff with sales of 40% off every couple of weeks. again though, its not a model focus, and it will be just 1 aisle of models for revell and amt brands. if you were into rc cars, there are a ton of places for that. -

in case anyone is interested, this is the layout i built. im using 2 sets for this. its on a 9x6 foot table, with the corner not being used because its also my work area. ultimately i took a power track and desoldered it and soldered it onto the straight track. i found that my good controller did not work on the power track it came with, even though the plug was the same. with the 1/32 power that i soldered it works great. it has adjustable voltage, so i can go very slow or very fast and in between. it took about 20 minutes because i stink at soldering

i found this kind of funny. i live in the usa. there are slot cars that i wanted that are not available in the usa, for whatever reason. i decided to look on different amazon sites from around the world amazon germany's site had the track set i wanted, i ordered it, and it was shipped from spain. however, when i tried to order it directly from the amazon spain it was 50 dollars more amazon spain's site had 2 cars that i wanted, i ordered it, and it was shipped from australia amazon australia did not even list the cars as available either way, i got the set yesterday and it is better than i thought it would be. the the cars are arriving in a couple of weeks, it looks like

i use mint mobile and they use the tmobile network. I only have 4gb month, but they have unlimited plans. it is 30 per month for unlimited, and you can ask for a 7 day trial chip to check out your service. if you have a smartphone, you can use it as a hotspot for a computer for internet. or you can just use your phone for internet

Lamborghini: The man behind the legend
MrMiles replied to PowerPlant's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Unfortunately for me I bought it on Amazon prime. It was one of the worst movies I have seen. They never did any character build up and the different areas of his life are all glossed over quickly without ever covering any part of it in detail. There was not any part of the movie that was good -
