I'm glad you agree.. Not that I'd change my mind. ? In a recent storm that tree had a 20 foot long 10 inch dia. Limb snap. It was lodged at the break between two other limbs a 45° angle to the ground. It just missed my neighbors new shed, miracle? Don't know but I'll take it.

First.. Thank you Ricky and all of the other vets here and all over for the sacrifices made to serve our country so we can enjoy the freedoms we still have. Unfortunately patriotism is at an all time low.. Sad and despicable.

Ok.. You got me..I'm gullible. ? Although it does seem plausible.
-
No I haven't. Only because of where the rot is and how far it may have traveled in the trunk.
-
Sorry I haven't had a phycological sense of well being from this tree since I became its owner. Always picking up limbs and sticks. Unclogging the gutters of the little helicopter seedlings and leaves. Going through the fall ritual of continuous leave clean up. Not to mention the worries of it hitting the house from a storm. Once the tree is gone I believe I'll have some peace of mind.

That makes sense and is understandable as it being your national symbol. I guess the bald eagles are safe since I'm not a hunter of animals.. Only model kits..?

This tree has been losing large limbs with just about every storm that rolls through. It doesn't cast any shade on my house only the backyard. It was topped out just before we bought the property years ago and that is an option I have to do again but the there is rot in the crotch of the tree. It's time to say bye bye. About 10 years ago I cut down four 40 foot pines that were dying off. I cut the lower dead branches up about 6 foot and that was ok for a few years but they still continued to dye off. I definitely don't mess the pine needles! On the other side of the coin I have planted all the other trees over the years on the property. I had planted a beautiful weeping birch which was eventually destroyed by an ice storm. The 4 pines, this maple and a mountain ash out front were the only trees originally. I'd like to take down the mountain ash but it does somewhat shade the house from the sun. Funny thing with the insurance company.. The tree guy told me that he had a job that the insurance company would only pay to remove what was on the house. No clean up or removal of the other debris and another job that the tree hit the roof and rolled off. They wouldn't pay to have it removed. I'm sure it all depends on ones policy states.

Yeah when this old electric blower finally dies I'll more than likely go battery vs gas. The hand held gas blowers are to heavy for my old aching hands and the back packs are over kill for my property. This brings me to todays not so much an Irk but a slap of reality with today's outrageous prices for everything. My tree guy stopped by to give me an estimate on the massive 50 to 60 foot silver maple tree that needs to come down. $3,0450.00 to cut, remove and stump grind the stump and multiple root runners going into the neighbors yard. Cheaper than I thought it would be but it still doesn't make it any easier to swallow. I guess no more kit buying for awhile..? but at least next year I'll have leaves to clean up. ?

This kit was only made in 1963. It's a 1/32 scale kit. Aurora also made another cool kit that was also 1/32 scale called the Meat wagon. It was a '39 Packard Ambulance kit only made in 1964. I have a glue bomb of that kit as well but I'm still on the hunt for a complete virgin kit. I never had any of these kits to build when I was younger.

Oh I still use the rake. I use the blower for clearing out the gardens and making multiple large piles which I then use the rake and walk with method to move a large mass of leaves on to a tarp which gets drugged to the street curb where the cities leave vac truck sucks them up. Beats bagging them. Saturday I have a tree guy coming to get an estimate on cutting down a humongous maple. When that tree goes 75% of my leave problem goes away.. ? I'll be sure to be sitting when he gives me the damage..

Today's list of Irks.. 1.) The billing department for our local Ambulance service.. Instead of submitting the bill to my dad's insurance they just sent it? Causing me to do what they should have done in the first please with insurance info I gave them when they arrived. Incompetent! 2.) Had to call and push dads health care services to send out a referral that was supposed to have been sent weeks ago. Again incompetence! 3.) Dealing with my dad's Baltimore County retirement life insurance plan. He had my mom who had passed away 11 years ago still listed as his beneficiary. Him being at the rip age of 98 it's time to fix it. Trying to navigate their system to change the beneficiary name using a cell phone was very trying to say the least. I even called their hot line number for assistance and I was sent a link which was the same info I already had that they had sent by mail. However I did finally accomplish the task. Incompetence?... Nah just our state government being a pain in the arse.. 4.) Last but not least.. I was blowing the leaves with an electric blower when somehow I became entangled in the cord which cause me to fall. I didn't get hurt but my poor blowers plastic housing had cracked and was missing a large piece. After going to the local DIY store to look for a replacement I found that there are no electric blowers to be found. I went and found the missing piece. Along with crazy glue and duct tape I'm back in business again. As to no electric blowers..?°°Regulations on noise pollution I'm guessing? IDK..Maybe they can make a regulation on mouthy protesters who know nothing about what they are chanting about.. ?

This weeks mail man's ebay deliveries. The '33 I won, not really trying too but the '39 LaSalle has been on my list for a very long time. I had bought a not so bad complete glue bomb of the hearse awhile back and started to dismantle it with some luck. The last two pieces, the back door and the drivers side panel is glued very well and is misaligned badly. Still haven't been able to sperate them. So I did the next best thing.. Bought a nice unmolested complete kit..☺

The thought of moving is never as exciting as the newly acquired accommodations are. Hope it goes smoothly for you all. ?°° now the thought of converting the Citroen into a pickup/ ute is intriguing. Neat idea..

You said a mouth full.. Not a fun job. I did many bathroom rehabs at my old job and a few for family members. Never easy, never fun but always thankful when it's done. I'm sure your mom appreciates having a handyman and a devoted son.. Rock on!

Yep.. Same pieces in my kit. I'm not a fan of the So called scoop or the bump up in the hood.

The older kits have flat hoods from what I can tell from the photos online, I haven't bagged one yet. Not sure if the older kit hoods fit the newer molded bodies. Someone with that kit building experience could tell ya, if so I'm all ears. i'd prefer the flat hood also.. ?°° unless there's velocity stacks or blower poking out..?

I went back again and watched a different unboxing video and you are correct your kit does have a separate hood with a optional hump/scoop. The hood is not completely flat, it has some rise to it. I also dug out my Stevens international kit and its the same as your kit.. My bad.. I thought I had remembered it being flatter. ?

I went back to the video and looked and also looked at the photo of the parts included from the kits bottom. One hood and it's got the hump..

No it does not. The MPC jeepster Commando Hombre off- road kit also has the flat hood. Jeepster Commando Hombre Off-Road Pickup MPC | No. 78-0716-250 | 1:25

Sunday's Irk.. Day light savings! The only perk is you can say you where able to time travel. I'd like to string up the umbilical who initiated the idea.
-
I like the old jeepsters look too but those can be pricey for a nice complete kit. The AMT /stevenshobbies.com Mount 'N Goat Jeep Commando has the flat hood instead of the hump hood. That's what I ended up with for now.

Not sure it all works but since your dad and sis have abilities you may too. You just never taped into it?

In the spirit of Ghosts... Now that Halloween is over and our next Holiday nears, doesn't mean that the ghost are on vacation and they are not still here. Quite the contrary as time will tell when more visiting contributors speak of things they've seen, heard or smelled. So whip out your cameras and snap away then go back to look at what you may have captured today.. ?

Nice find. I've been eyeing up that one, the flying bridge cruiser moulded in ugly swirly brown and the '59 Owens kit since the "Old Wooden Boats"? topic came about. Reminds of of the SS Minnow.

I am a one of those who habitually locks the door behind them out of habit. It can be maddening when I unintentionally lock it and not have the keys in my possession. So I have a spare key hidden for emergencies. When I moved into my dads house to care for him I knew he had a spare key hidden outside. I asked where it was? He told me where and I went to retrieve it so I could make sure it was the correct key and it worked incase of an emergency. My dad is and always has been the type of individual who over does everything. The key was wrapped in duct tape than put into a glass jar. The lid was sealed with duct tap then he wrapped it all in plastic which he wrapped with more duct tape. It told me literally 45 minutes to unwrap it all. Not sure how it would have all went if it was an actual emergency.
