Found this model on a local hobby shop's shelf on sale for $20.00 each. I was kinda hesitant at first...had not heard of the Chinese company Fuman. The LHS opened the box so I could get a look at the model, was impressed with the number and quality of the parts...so picked one up. Upon researching the car, found out Aurora and Bandai had both previously released a version of this car in 1/16th scale. The Fuman kit is a re-pop of the Bandai kit...even has "Bandai" stamped under both running boards. This kit was fun to build and something just a little bit different. Paint is Tamiya TS-34 Camel Yellow Decals are a little stubborn...none of the decal setting solutions I have did anything to help settle them down! Fuman Kit: Bandai Kit: after building this car, went back to the hobby shop and picked up another kit. gonna build a fender-less racing version of the Mercer thanx for lookin'

LOOKIN' GOOD BERNARD! -
about 2 weeks on each, hardest part was deciding what version to build on the "two dragsters in the tin"...they give you alot of choices

My Dad, Chuck Raitz a journeyman carpenter had a 1962 Ford Pickup in the middle 60's thru the 70's. I have been lookin' for the AMT kit of this truck, but not for the amount of money they are goin' for on eBay. A fellow member of our club, Larry Henley had the kit...so a few trades later and a little cash, it be mine Here's a photo of it in action: Gonna have to scratch build the rear bumper, roof rack, side boxes and find some western style side mirrors. the truck had a 292 y-block v-8 with a single carb similiar to this: The engine in the kit is fairly crude lookin' for a nice Y-Block with single carb...anyone know where I can find one? thanx

getting paid to build a model
curt raitz replied to LAone's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I couldn't agree more... eBay has saved me from having boxes of built models wasting away in a closet... I do build models for a few people...price depends on the subject, how much detailing...but I never box myself in with a deadline -
Remember "Hot Rod " Primer?
curt raitz replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
DupliColor has a Hot Rod Grey Primer, really nice shade of dark grey and works just like all of their other primers -

Just finished another F1 Model... this being the 1/20th scale Lotus 79 from Hasegawa #FG3 What a beautiful kit, everything went together flawlessly I was very apprehensive about painting a black model, but Tamiya's TS-14 did the job. Application of the decals on this model are not for the weak-of-heart, you have to be very patient and careful. I did clear coat (Tamiya TS-13) over the decals, because this is a shiny race car...saw it at Long Beach I decided to build Ronnie Peterson's car as raced in the German Grand Prix, cuz everyone builds Mario's winning car from this race... plus he has a cool lookin' helmet! Another nice touch to the Hasegawa kit is the inclusion of the helmet and decals for it. Thanx for lookin'...

Looking great Brendan are those aftermarket seatbelts or are they included in kit...real nice? now that explains the "fish-eye" problem i've had with a few cans of Tamiya spray paints, MM Classic White is my choice for a white paint, dang near bulletproof and covers extremely well thanx may have to get one of these kits

FREE CIGARS...Cuban of course? -
Most decals will respond to a hot steamy towel pressed onto the decal I usually don't cut the decal until it has had a chance to settle down (either on it's own or with help from decal setting solution) When cutting...use a new #11 blade and lightly score the decal covering the recessed panel line, then hit it with your favorite decal setting solution. regarding decal setting solutions...I use 4 -5 different types decals from different manufacturers will respond to a certain setting solution, but not to another one It has been trail and error over the years good luck
