Tamiya Fine Gray Primer Not Available
curt raitz replied to Duntov's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Brendan I use this as well...closest thing I've found to Tamiya's grey primer, hasn't "crazed" any plastic yet! -
Thanx, I just went back and looked at all of my reference photos and none show "F1" behind "Eagle" as supplied in the Fujimi kit. I never noticed this until you mentioned it, amazing how one's eye can look at something and the brain tricks you into seeing something different... I just layed 'em down right off the decal sheet...gonna have to stay that way - cuz removing the "F1" will throw the spacing off, dang it!
-
Peter...it's easy! just put the glue, paint and decals in the box and shake it - - - presto...finished 1/20th scale F-1 car

This is gotta be one of the nicest kits I've built! Lotsa parts and everything fits together extremely well...had to keep lookin' at the box to make sure it was a Revell kit, not a Fujimi or Hasegawa kit! Revell has released four of these kits, two Audi's and two Mercedes...this kit is of the Audi Tom Kristensen drove in 2009. I built it to represent the car he drove in the last German DTM race in 2009. Decals are included in kit for this car and the car he drove in all the preceeding races. Red Paint is Tamiya TS-8 "Italian Red"...perfect match to decal red. thanx for lookin'...

This is the 1/20th scale Fujimi kit built to represent the car Senna drove in the 1991 Japanese GP...without tobaccy decals Paint is Model Masters Classic White and Tamiya TS-36 "Florescent Red" I'm really enjoying building these latest entries into 1/20th scale F-1 modeling scene this is an excellent kit with a lot of detail and tiny parts! thanx for lookin'...

Very nice build...it's nice to see someone else build these old Indy cars the detail work around the engine plus the carbon-fiber work really sets this car apart thanx for sharing

This thing cracks me up...I keep comin' back and lookin' at it over and over again! can't wait to see what you end up doin' to this poor lil' pick'em up truck

You've seen models built by "Master Modeler's" for sale on eBay. I sell a lot of my built models on eBay, recently a buyer inquired if the model was built by a "Master Modeler". This was not an easy question to answer I think the stuff I build turns out OK, but not master built... I'm just curious as to what qualifies one as a "Master Modeler"...just throwing it out there for a little feed back thanx

finis... got'er all done, had to take care of a few fit issues and dings along the way *engine parts were too high for hood to close - necessitated removing and grinding away stuff, dinged the fender in the process *hinges and guide pins for the canopy are a little on the fragile side and bind when trying to close but overall it was fun and didn't come out to bad... just gonna post pixurz of the finished car in this thread - won't be posting it "Under Glass" "I guess I shoulda known By the way u parked your car sideways That it wouldn't last... Little red corvette Baby you're much 2 fast..." Sorry Raul, I couldn't resist... thanx for lookin...

Thanx for lookin'...almost finished

This has been on and off the workbench o'er the past couple of months... just put the finishing touches on this past weekend Tamiya's latest venture into the modern F1 cars My only complaint is the lack of detail and extra goodies regarding the engine area and how close the front /rear tires are in size (easy to confuse)...other than that it's an excellent kit and everything fit as one would expect of Tamiya kit. Tried to paint it with ScaleFinishes Ferrari Red for this car, but after a few coats of color o'er the gold basecoat kept getting a black pigment popping thru...I'm sure it was something I was doin' wrong - might have been a little too aggressive on building up the color o'er the basecoat. Ended up shooting Tamiya's TS-85 Mica Red Metaalic (designed for this kit). Went on really nice and appears to be the right color. Stuck some aftermarket decals from Tabu to replicate the Marlboro Barcode hope you enjoy... Thanx for lookin'

[/quote lookin' great Bernard, my only suggestion is: ya may wanna recess the spare tire into the rear belly pan for greater ground clearance...
