That is awesome. I love it. -
One of my holy grails took a slight detour. The decals wear junk, and unusable. Without the decals keeping it yellow was not in the cards. I just grabbed some colors, and tape. I am very happy with the results. All Testors extreme lacquers. Star Spangled blue, Reving red, diamond dust(silver) followed by white lightning, and 2 coats of wet look clear. I was not sure how I would paint it, but it came out better than anything I had imagined for my skill. Other than the paint, it will be built box stock. The Odessey, and bike will be Honda Red.

MPC dodge 78 (M880)

That looks great. Having owned 2 1:1 M1009 Chevy Blazer CUCVs, I have to say your model looks so real. I had to do a double take on the first pic after the real one to see I was looking at your creation, and not another pic of the real one. -
I painted this a few years back with Rustolium X2 Orange. This week was the week I threw it together. Not a good kit by any standards. No shocks, no engine bay details, cheap windshield you have to cut yourself, tub had to be sanded to get it to fit correctly, wheels seemed too wide for the tires when assembled. This is what model building is all about, but I was not too happy with the fit, and finish. Anyways, I am calling it done. I will have to detail the fender emblem soon.

I am a GM/Mopar guy, so this thread excites me. I want a Warlock, and the police Charger.

That is one of the best-looking Petty cars I have ever seen. -
So on the bench after the Coo Coo Marling Monte is going to be a Dodge Daytona. Fit, and finish is typical AMT. I had planned on painting it Model Masters Sublime green. However, the can seems to be junk. So I am thinning a Spring Green/Black stripe or Copper Metallic/White stripe with steel wheels, poverty caps, and red lines.

Iceman is among the best. I used Iceman wheels on the Racers Wedge.

Great build. Do I see a Datsun 510 on a 4x4 frame in one of the pics? -

Loosen the lid on Testors enamel square bottles.
WillyBilly replied to R. Thorne's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
For over 40 years my method of cap removal is a pair of pliers. I use robo grip pliers now. I also have an adjustable wrench. I put the wrench on the bottle and use the robo grip on the lid. I have never broken a bottle. And I also use a sharpie to lable the color in the bottle since the lettering is so small. -
Calling it done. I was excited to build it, and missed that the heads, and valve covers, and the windshield had glue prints on it. The fit, and finish was typical MPC. I did the Richard Petty, and Davey Alison versions when I was young. I remember them being a PIA to build. You have to pre check the wheelbase when building the chassis. It is a two piece with 3 different locations based on vehicle you are building. The instructions are not the best. It said to install it in the shortest location. That was wrong for the Monte Carlo. Luckily, I checked before starting the build. The instructions are sketchy on other things too like the engine. It says the distributor goes to the front. Not on a BBC it doesn't. Anyways it is finished, and I am very pleased with the result. It was a 48 year wait to build, but worth it. I only wish my brother could have seen it done. Now it gets its own case.

Pontiac G8
WillyBilly replied to WillyBilly's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Actually, it is called an L76. It is a mix of LS2, and LS3 parts. I was excited for the Ute as well, but I am a long roof guy. I wanted the wagon version. A 2 door version was also floated around. I just sold a 2012 caprice. Also a Holden Commadore with a stretched wheelbase sold to police agencies only when new. -
Chevy Nirvana custom van

Far out man! LOL That is awesome. -
Finished the bottom of the chassis, and just have some touch up here, and there on the interior. I have used white paint on the raised white letters of the tires when I was a kid, but the paint never seemed to dry. Is there a product I can find at Hobby Lobby, or Walmart that with do the job, but dry?

Very nice Looks almost real. -
I got some work done last night. Got the chassis painted, and somewhat together. Still have to install some items before I glue down the cage and finish it. Kit was missing the heads, and valve covers, so I pulled those items from the old pro Nova that was converted to a Pontiac Ventura. I was not sure on interior color. I would have assumed it had been painted some color. I decided to go with gold floor with gloss black cage.
