I can remember building the Red Alert Chevelle when I was a kid. I'm fairly sure it had the 4 round taillights. Hard to believe they haven't reissued it lately. -
The Breeders - Shocker in Gloomtown. Guided By Voices cover. Okay its not that well known but its a great cover. Thats Guided By Voices peering into the garage.

Then in the early 80s everyone took a sawzall to the roof to install those cheapo J.C. Whitney sunroofs that would leak the minute any water hit them. Then of course the air shocks to raise the backend to the moon. ? -

Cool pic. Remember the local speed shop? Try to find one of those today. I can even remember radio commercials for them. -
Paint Strippers - What to Use?
Mike C. replied to pbj59's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Checked again yesterday. Should have taken a few pics but. Alot of the paint came off in sort of strips but I had to use my fingernails and then an old toothbrush while running body and parts under warm water. Still some paint left on some of the detailed areas. Put everything back to soak with new stripper a 2nd time (with the Purple Power) and will see what happens in lets say a few weeks. One thing I wasn't expecting, the body and parts are now white. It started out molded in green. I guess they paint them sometimes. You can still see some of the green left in some spots. This thing is starting to get more costly than it's worth. -
I would go so far as to say that it brings your model to a whole new level.

I wish I could say the same for my pics. Joseph makes really nice stuff. I'm a big fan of his tires. Those Super swampers are really nice and the Mudkings are also.

I saw a set slapper bars on a '69 Chevelle at a show a couple of years ago. Still trying to figure how they managed that strange setup. ? -

Finally got my 2nd order from Fireball. Lots of off road tires, wheels and goodies. The vintage accessory lights come with the KC daylighter happy faces (but not enough). Anybody make more? Got the Chevy truck door handles to correct those tiny ones on the Monograms. Luvin' these Western Hurricane wheels. They were the "it" wheel years ago.

70s cars as they really were!
Mike C. replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This one brings back some memories. My friends older cousin lived right next door to him had a real 396 Chevelle that looked exactly like this one. We saw him a few years ago and he told us he still had it and took it all back to stock and was starting to bring it to shows. Come to find out he has since died. No word on what happened to the car. -

A treasure trove of great pics. I have always been big a fan of what they now call the day 2 cars. Back then you had to at least have some mags and big rubber when you showed up at to local hang out spot on a Friday night. Thanks for posting. ? -
