  1. Out of curiosity, were the Cragar S/S wheels always unchromed, or was that changed at some point? It appears on the Lesney-era Street Machine version's box art car the wheels are chrome plated, and I don't think those are the stock Rally wheels.
  2. Are the trailer roofs from the AMT '40 Fruehauf reefer and van kits the same part?
  3. No idea, but one of (I think) the earliest is the 1/16 Revell Jungle Jim Vega F/C, which was released in 1995:
  4. Thanks, Mike. Just noticed your updated avatar, too.
  5. Is seems the car was run in both '62 and '63, so hat may account for some of the differences? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=247089&page=11
  6. I wanted to go back to the original question and ask which AMT kit have you had this experience with? Considering AMT has been owned by three different companies in the span of a decade plus, the O.P. could be talking about an Ertl, Learning Curve/RC2. or Round2 era kit. If it's the RC2 era Opal GT, that explains the quality issues.
  7. I see it the same way, and it seems to be working well for both companies, as well as "us." Round2 is doing a good job so far, and while I still wonder if putting all their eggs in the reissue basket is the best long term path, they seem to be proving me wrong with every new reissue.
  8. Ask Tom via PM if your curiosity is sincere. Publicly requesting someone explain something you perceived is not something everyone this forum is set for discussing.
  9. Or better, love it. Congrats to you and your family....Gramps.
  10. Yes there are. Please PM me for details:
  11. Will the Polyglas GT set be the style with redlines on one side?
  12. I would agree. I'm sure Moebius will have something definitive to say in a few weeks in New Jersey.
  13. Yeah, those AMT Goodyear Rally GT tires are some of the worst ever created. To Round2's credit, it seems they have high enough minimum standards as to never include those in a kit ever again.

  15. In the grey-background header of the reply box, you will see a little thing which looks like two chain links with a green circle at the bottom right corner of the chain links- click this, then paste the link (aka, web address or URL) on the space provided in the pop up box. This will automatically add the link to the body of your post, like so: http://public.fotki.com/misterNNL/1925-ford-model-tt-/ Same thing with a link to an image, this time by clicking the tree icon two placed to the right of the link icon:
  16. Start here George: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=81824&page=3
  17. I think they are, and I think we can safely assume the shooting star graphics will not be included this time around:
  18. I assume it's these parts which were included in kit #8716, with the blue box art car: "Also includes optional custom Mickey Thompson 'Power Ram' intake manifold, Offenhasuer valve covers, high performance velocity stacks and air cleaner." I bought the Dave Strickler "Old Reliable" version way back when, and it was the first modern-era AMT kit I built which I was really impressed by. The parts fit, ease of assembly, and modeling were all excellent, and there were no issues I can recall having, but IIRC the trunk lip molding was never engraved into the tooling, and there may have been minor rear suspension, too.
  19. The 1/25 AMT '68 Chevy Camaro Z/28 kit is back, this time with parts included to build either a stock or customized street machine. It doesn't appear that anything has changed, other than everything being included in one box this time, as well as new box art:
  20. Looks like the (very good) AMT '62 Bel Air kit is arriving soon, this time as a 2'n1 kit with both the stock and mild custom parts included, as well as new decals and box art to match.
  21. I thought Carlos was only sending the chassis/floorpan parts, parts which needed to be painted body color before the chassis/exhaust parts are painted then installed? Maybe Billy can clarify. I didn't think he was painting all the body parts and doing all the body work at this time, but they probably all need to be painted at the same time, so no worries either way. As long as it's moving forward we're in good shape.
  22. https://www.facebook.com/tim.ahlborn.3/posts/794483793913929 "The California Hauler - The post that Tom made about The Truck That Pete Built by Phil Jensen had a post mentioning that Round2 will be releasing the kit again. This is correct. I've been sitting on this secret for almost 3 years since the tool was located. The red 359 that I've occasionally posted photos of is a test-shot of this kit. The kit will be the same as the original T500-500 as a non-sleeper. The sleeper tool is not viable. The kit will have a new decal sheet with two stripe options and three optional company door signs and California themed names and cities. This is fantastic news - the original 1969 Peterbilt 359 is the kit that started the big rig kit line-up. Now, watch eBay as a the kit speculators "dump" their original kits trying to make a buck on them."
