One thing to note. The Monogram Shelby wheels have six spokes, while the wheels James shows are five spokes. Some Jada 1/32 scale die-cast models (GT40 for one) include Shelby/Halibrand wheels, but the knock-offs are molded as one with the wheel and would take a lot of time and some very careful work to remove.

So What does Revell Have up Their Sleeves?
Casey replied to tabsscale1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It wouldn't bother me if they did. A car this huge needs bigger wheels and tires IMHO, but I have plenty to chose from. -

Yeah, it's too bad they picked the '78 instead of the '76 or '77 X. The wheels and AMC I6 will be good to have, but I'm not so sure this kit'll have the same appeal the Gremlin did. -
Do the wheels in the Ice Cycle scale out to 1/12 scale? I just looked at the kit yesterday and they look pretty big for 1/25 scale.

1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I agree 100%, and that's probably why there's frustration when Revell brings out a new kit and it doesn't seem to be on the same level as previous "best efforts" on their part. We know they can do it, and they have done it, but for whatever reason(s), they don't do it on every new kit. -
I thought I read on the Hobby Heaven Spotlight board this kit might be based on the Duster 340 instead of being backdated to the original version. Hopefully Round2 will have more info on what they're planning in October at iHobby.

What I see on the left side seems to match the Snap Blazer, but the right side with the vertical "BLAZER" doesn't match at all. Maybe it was just an old prototype box they brought with them. -
1/25 Revell '70 Plymouth HEMI 'Cuda 2'n1
Casey replied to MachinistMark's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Perhaps I wasn't clear. I understand what the flaws are (beltline to shoulders looks too tall, inner scoop ridges are too short, wheel lips are too fat), and I even agree they should be addressed, so interpreting my "no kit is perfect" comment as an attempted justification as to why these flaws exist is not the case. I don't know exactly why Revell (or any other company) doesn't get it prefect every single time, but I do realize debating how close to perfection each of us perceives this kit to be is only good up to a certain point, and that point is different for each of us. And yes, all three example I posted how noticeable differences in the wheel lip areas alone, and that was intentional--t o show they are all different. And yes, they are all different from what we see on the 1/25 scale model, but as I said already, I agree that the model's wheel lips could be better, so I have no need to try to justify why they aren't. I think most of us would rather see them improved than debate why Revell hasn't done that yet, but will it happen? I guess we'll see in November. -

Which Blazer kit was next to the Pacer kit? The little tag says "Coming Soon", but the snap Blazer is available now, so maybe a different Blazer kit? I can make out the vertical "BLAZER" on the right hand edge of the box top (near the left edge of the Pacer's box) but it's a different box than the snap kit's. -

Pat Redmond's pics: I see they are doing the faux-retro box art thing with the Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins '66 Nova kit, too: -
Can you post a pic of the parts?

The '69 442 and '69 Hurst/Olds are the same basic kit. The H/O adds a few different parts (hood scoop, rear spoiler, center console, etc.), but the kits are 90% the same. -
Welcome aboard, Jonny. You'll be happy to know Revell has just reissued it's '66 Chevelle wagon kit, too.

What Ray (and the others have said). The Revell '41 Willys kits go together easily, so you should have a good time building it. -
Studebaker Community Build...with a Meet & Greet in South Bend, IN?
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Community Builds
It's already been replaced with a different air intake, but now that I've got the chassis-to-body fit locked in, the scoop lies below the bellypan and allows more air under the car. Not good. I think I'll just stick with the smooth nose and add the air intake for the engine on the top of the body as I had originally planned. -
So What does Revell Have up Their Sleeves?
Casey replied to tabsscale1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Debbie Downer. I have no idea, and it probably is more of a wish at this time, but people seem to like Woodies, and Revell doesn't seem to have any qualms tooling up new Woody kits either. I guess we'll see. Since I'm throwing pennies into the well, I might as well add this one-and-done kit to the list: -

Good to see the Bullhorn T is still happening, and a backdated Touch Tone Terror is fantastic news. I see they got the C-600/800 box art right now, too. -

Never, but a '57 Country Squire would be a better choice than a '66 Impala IMHO. Maybe in May 2015... -

I hope they only used it for reference, and not with the intent on building a (near) exact replica. No offense, as it appears well done, but it has no provenance, no name recognition, and is a "what if" rather than a what was. Now, that all might not mean much in 1/25 scale, but Revell seems to have a pretty good track record with BJM kit-wise, and his 'Vette did retain the stock front suspension with lift blocks from what I've read, so fewer newly tooled parts would be needed, too. -

Studebaker Community Build...with a Meet & Greet in South Bend, IN?
Casey replied to Casey's topic in Community Builds
I wasn't happy with the canopy I had, so I came home from Michael's with a new option, in the form of this Revell 1/48 P-51 kit. This is what I really wanted from the start-- a canopy with a separate, flanged base which I could mount to the body shell. The bare canopy didn't look right sitting directly on the body, so I think this'll be a good solution: Much better, and I can more easily integrate the canopy and its base with the Avanti's hood and cowl bulge (yeah, I'm still holding onto that styling element): I needed to figure out some type of chassis-to-body support, and while passing through the beading aisle at Michael's, I saw some copper pins which looked like they might work well for body support rods. The flat heads will touch the underside of the body in various places, while the opposite ends will be cut to length and soldered to the chassis. I have the body resting on the tops of the tires right now, so once all the body supports are in place, I will add a small round shim between the body and pin heads, which will both positively locate the pin heads and add a tiny bit of needed clearance between the tires and body. Here's a pic of the first pin in place: The belly of the P-51 had what looked almost exactly like a late '80s aero-style snorkel scoop, and it was very close to 1/25 scale, too, so I assembled the plane's fuselage halves and cut away the scoop. I'm not sure this will remain, and I think I have to make the scoop's mouth flush with the rest of the body, but I'm going to work with it for now and see if it sticks: -
Absolutely. The 1/24 Monogram '57 (and '53) Vette kits are okay, but not great, and certainly nowhere near as good as the newer Revell '62 and the '58/'59 Vette kits.
