  1. Still on target, date-wise: http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/galaxie-fred-lorenzen Sounds like Round2 did some restoring/backdating on this kit, which seems to be their new M.O.: AMT's® special reissue of the 1965 Ford Galaxie kit has many original parts restored and missing parts retooled, including the racing roll cage. Buildable in stock, custom or stock car racing versions, the kit has returned to its original glory with many optional parts. An opening trunk, not often seen on 1/25 car kits, features a spare wheel and jack inside. A recreation of the first issue decal sheet with Fred Lorenzen stock car markings is included. Molded in white and clear with many chrome parts.
  2. I was a bit surprised to hear Ed Sexton tell me Revell would be announcing new kits in May, but they did. From what I recall in past years, the Mid year announcements were only reissues, and no new kits. Then again, I don't recall Revell, Round2, and Moebius attending NNLs and announcing their products before, either, so it's a brave new world. I was pleasantly surprised with the D&M '62 Vette gasser in Revell's video, as the front tires are larger, the nose not quite as high, and the wheels even better than the real car's. Brett's right about the half-hex rear wheel arches(?!) on the BM car, so I guess this is a decent compromise.
  3. Hmmmm. The sketch of the Foose '69 Camaro is shown at the :42 mark, but it's hard to make out the wheel diameter. They don't look to be any larger than 17" or 18", and the only other new thing (besides the tires?) is a set of customized skunk stripes. The D&M Vette Gasser looks to be using the '41 Willys' tires, with new American Torq Thrust wheels, in big 'n' little sizes. I see some variations/compromises(?) from the real car, but I like the built up better that what I see on the real car. The hardtop doesn't look like it fits all that well, though. Guess we'll wait and see what it looks like when the kit arrives. '50 Olds will get the CA Wheels treatment, but they're not yet shown. '37 Ford Coupe looks like a straight reissue of the last, Goodguys version but with a "choice of wheels" and new flame decals. Please let the second choice be the Cragar S/S wheels from the original issue of the Coupe kit! The Rat Fink and diorama is kinda cool. The diorama and sign look to be all new.
  4. That confirms what Hobbico leaked a few days ago.
  5. Do what you mentioned, and when you're finished with the masters, post pics of them and see if anyone is interested in casting them. You might want to contact Competition Resins, as that sounds like something which would fit into their lineup. Not sure if they are still located in Upland, CA or not.
  6. I would expect a pattern similar to what was done on the previous Foose'd kits- large diameter Foose style wheels with lo-pro tires, new decals, and not much else different than previous releases. I think the Coronet has a new center console, and who know about the '64 Impala, but IIRC the '68 Firebird only received new decals and wheels/tires. I was hoping the 1/12 Shelby GT500's tires would be used, but I'm not even sure they'd fit within the Camaro's wheel wells. It will be interesting to see what Revell uses...
  7. Looks like this one's available now.
  8. That's why it works so well for model kits. Take an existing kit, add new wheels and decal sheet, and you've got a modified reissue for very little investment.
  9. I picked up one of these the other day, and these appear to be the parts which differ from the earlier '76 release: Round2 did included a 2"x6" Gremlin mini bumper sticker, the mini box, and the different decal sheet shown earlier in this topic, but yeah, it's 98% the same as the '76 version.
  10. Maybe it's just me, but it seems like a mistake to change the scale to 1/25 on this one. I guess we'll wait for more details, but if it's a near-copy of the Sizzler, shrunk down a tad, I think it loses all off the Sizzler's nostalgic appeal. Now, if it's a "we-sorta-copied-the-Sizzler-but-changed-a-few-things" sorta thing, now done in 1/25 scale, that would make a bit more sense to me. Was the Sizzler's chassis a Fuller-style chassis? I want to say the Revell Mooneyes dragster and the subsequent parts pack "Dragster frame" kit were very similar to what the Sizzler used, ignoring the scale difference. Any more details on this one, Brett?
  11. The only thing I would change is to have two razor saws handy, one fine and one a bit coarser. I swear by the Walgreens Studio 51 (or whatever their house brand beauty products are) nail files/sanding sticks. They come in 180/220 (black) and a 280/320 (pink) grits, and are 2/per package @ $1.50 each. Easily replaced when they wear out, too. I've never used a sprue cutter and never will. No stressing the plastic at the cut with a razor or p/e saw blade, and you can make a nearly perfect tangential cut with a saw blade.
  12. You just showed you're in the over 45 group with that product reference. N'ICE.
  13. Yes, or the Dollar Store, too. May be a month too late, though.
  14. And the others?...

  16. I think this is the last release?:
  17. That's what I gather. I think there's also the "Bill's Signs" big rig kit which is referred to by its informal name as well.
  18. That is a valid point, but let's get back to Mr. Senna, please.
  19. Wow, the Dave Deal Glitter Bug is coming back. That's a bit of a (pleasant) surprise. Monogram Cop Out, Paddy Wagon, and Lil Coffin, too. Not surprising.
  20. Pssst, use the "Share" tab, then "Code for forums" to get your pic to appear in your post.
  21. You have a point, Pat, but the General header reads: General Post general model car/automotive topics here. This topic is about a legendary, deceased race car driver, so I don't see any reason it should be removed. It's clearly auto related, a subject which most of us share an interest in. I agree that non-automotive or model-related topics shouldn't be discussed here on the forum, but there are times when judgement is required, not to mention a sense of compassion. If a member's immediate family passes away and they want to post about, neither Harry nor I are going to delete it. We understand that some people grieve and handle personal loss differently, so there's more benefit to allowing such a pst to remain than deleting it. As for the other non-auto nor model-related topics, I agree, and I removed the George Jones topics-- both of them. I am really, really hoping an off-topic section becomes a reality here, and soon. I think it would benefit members on both sides of the argument (to have or not to have an off-topic section here on the forum) to have such a section, but I have no control over its creation beyond offering my thought and opinion. There are some topics which I feel should be removed, but I am waiting to see/hear if an off-topic section is going to be created, so please, be patient until that is decided. Once it is, you will see some changes to Gen. Disc.
  22. I edited your links, Junior, but for future reference, copy (Control C, or just click on the "IMG" link), then paste (Control V) here in the body of your message. The IMG image link is the one you want to use for posting images on forums.
  23. What's rare are real '95-'97 Neons in Lapis Blue which don't have peeling paint. I don't think any more exist. These BCG promos are pretty nice, save for the tires, which is a shame since they are Goodyear Invicta GAs IIRC, and were never available in any kits. I had a NYG sedan for a bit, but it was missing the, um, mirrors.
