More on the Uncertain Tee
Casey replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Uncertain T has always been unique, even when lumped in with the wild show cars of the '60s from Roth, the Barris brothers, Starbird, Jeffries, Casper, and so on. I understand it was new, fresh, and stood out in '62(?) when it first was shown, but I don't see it having nearly as much appeal now, even among the older crowd. One of the Coffin Corner forum posts made it sound like the tooling was scrapped in the late '70s "house cleaning" Monogram did, so if Revell would need to create all-new tooling to release a new Uncertain T kit...I don't see that happening just based on projected sales. Tom Daniel kits? Yes. Steve Scott's one kit? Sorry, no. His name doesn't have the same recognition as Roth and Daniel, his body of work is miniscule in comparison, and he nor his vehicle haven't been relevant for over 50 years. No offense, but the Uncertain T had it's time and place, and that time has passed, and his place taken by other customizers/designers. -

I don't see a model kit of a '60s oddball custom with a crooked roof being a popular seller today, despite how fondly some remember it. It certainly has a good story behind it, and those Monogram whitewall pie crust slicks and Torq Thrust wheels would've been welcome once again as donor material. -
History of Revell's Squarebody Pickup kits

Pics of the Ice Patrol decal sheet: Contest lit: The most disappointing thing about this series of kits is the front suspension, which is accurate for neither a C- (2WD) nor K-series (4WD) pickup. It does have parallel leaf springs up front, but has a solid beam or tube axle-- the same setup in every glue kit. Huge disappointment to say the least, and the Ice Patrol version's chassis/frame was laden with sink marks, not to mentioned the rear wheel arches had wheel flares but not the (mismatched) front wheel arches?!!? The Arctic Cat snowmobile did make up for some of the kit's shortcomings, but Chris' review of the Monogram, Revell, and MPC '73-'87(?) Chevy/GMC kits show how badly a new, modern kit is needed. -

Welcome, Bob. I hope this building slowly thing has nothing to do with the water here in the Falls.

Monogram Boss 429 kit, eh? Take some styrene tube which is slightly less than the rearend's axle tube diameter, and use it to fill in the back/top side. Once that's superglued in place, get out the baking powder and fill in the center/gear carrier area, using superglue to harden the powder. Only fill until you're close to "full", then use putty to fill the final 1/16", as it sands much easier.

I was determined to improve the look of the cowl vent openings, but after thinning the backside and scribing each gap all the way through, it was apparent the vent area now looked worse. The gaps weren't even and the plastic was too soft to retain it's shape, so I removed all of the vent's "teeth" and found a photoetched grille piece which had the same spacing to fill in the hole. The p/e is only .005" thick, so I have I have to dig a shallow recess around the opening, lay the p/e sheet inside the recess, then make sure the p/e is flush with the rest of the cowl. Here's my starting point: That wasn't so bad. We'll see how the cowl levels out and what it looks like after a quick prime:

Pretty well. Though it's called a dye, it's more like a flexible paint. Try it, you'll liiiiike it.

Many US EBay Sellers Will Opt In For International Shipping Soon
Casey replied to Johnny K's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Actually, eBay just lowered their fees a month or so ago, and the typical seller's fee is now a flat 10%, where it used to be 13%. As for boxes, Priority Mail boxes ARE free from USPS, and they'll ship as many as you want straight to your door. You an do a lot with crumpled up newspaper, too, and if you ever set foot inside a grocery store, there are bound to be plenty of them free for the taking. -
Hmmm, it might be Replicas & Miniatures of Maryland, but don't quote me on that.

I don't think so, as the 572 is a crate engine of a more modern design, and I've yet to see a kit which includes this engine with the raised numeral/letter valve covers:

Scale Equipment Limited makes the tractor, but for $25 you can probably find one of the MPC Lotus kits for a bit less: http://www.seltd.net/ez-catalog/X344897/16/SP-001 I don't recall ever seeing a mowing deck for the tractor.

Go to your profile page and click either "Topics" or "Posts" from the menu on the left-hand side, or "Find Content" at the top right of the profile page. Click on "Topics" and it will show you "Topics I've Started", and so on. Your first post was about a Bill Cosby joke and should've been posted in the Off Topic section, since it wasn't a question.

I don't think they need to do that anymore, now that Hobbico owns Revell-AG outright, right? Probably here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=68158

The convertible version of this kit is new, but will be heavily based upon the existing fastback kit. I don't think Revell has released anything other than a rendering of the convertible, but one 'site says it can be built "top up or top down."

Information needed on some Revell Chevy pickup kits
Casey replied to Fabrux's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Whoa, I haven't seen that Mudslinger in twenty years. Orange wheels!? Do you have this one, Chris?: -
From Revell's Ed Sexton: It will have the stock wheels and tires, and the new Foose wheels and tires will be all new, not shared with the 1/12 Shelby Mustang.
