  1. Don't start out with a tasteless joke which is A) demeaning to little people, and B ) uses people's crotches as part of the joke.
  2. It isn't, and nobody said it was required. I asked to see some of your work, since I appreciate nicely built models, and if you live by the "Striving for perfection" motto, I'm sure others would enjoy seeing your work as well. I'm a fan of Bill's worked and he's shared quite a bit of what he's done, so if you two are on the same page as far as build quality is concerned, I suspect your work is something many of your fellow forum members would enjoy seeing, too.
  3. Let's see some perfect models you've built.
  4. No, not due until December. I suspect, and this is my opinion only, the 1/12 Shelby Mustang will be discontinued at the end of the year, and eventually, the Foose 1/12 '69 will appear at Hobby Lobby. They've carried all of the Foose-branded kits so far (including the new '64 Impala), and my local HL has at least one Revell big scale kit on the shelves.
  5. Sounds like they were specially built with "interchangable parts", but I'm not sure how much Studebaker cars and trucks shared already...probably a lot knowing how little capital Studebaker had. It does sound a lot like marketing and sales-speak, as the "desert" models may have been very close to what was a standard Commander with heavt duty options (cooling, larger shocks, etc.), but the off-road type tires look like a distinct "special" option.
  6. These are very "hot" lacquers, so you want to use a similar "hot" lacquer-based primer, such as Dupli-Color. I don't recall if Testors makes a companion One Coat Primer, but if so, that's your best bet.
  7. I think the underhood air induction part(s) was(were) included with all three '68-'70 AMT(MPC) B-bodies at some point, since some of the parts are shared between all three kits. I know the '90s issue '70 kit includes both underhood pieces, which are slightly different.
  8. It won't be molded in like the Revell '69 Charger's vinyl roof was/is, and the engine is an RB-series 440 Hemi. Can't recall if the kit includes a bench seat or buckets, though.
  9. Looks like a member in New Zealand has used it: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=77612&hl=%2Btamiya+%2Bmetallic+%2Borange
  10. PM me the thread's url and I will delete it for you.
  11. Yes, but not necessarily vice-versa. Some places and businesses do not make their own products, but sell other people's/company's products.
  12. Which company is selling it?
  13. The post in the Aftermarket & Resin section is for listing all of the aftermarket companies who make products we can use, while your list (if I read it and your entry post correctly) lists places to buy these products, so I don't see your post as being redundant at all.
  14. The three-part "History of Drag Racing Models" series he authored in SAE in the early '90s (1991?) had a lot of good info about his involvement with the Racing Scenes kits and his time at Aurora, too.
  15. I think (my opinion, based on what I've read and seen) is Tom West's experience is a bit unique in the industry, having worked for Revell and Aurora (and maybe others?) as a designer, but maybe others had similar experiences. The Striaghtline Modeler's 'site (seems to be down now) has some great info regarding the development of the Aurora Racing Scenes kits, including reference photographs and detailed part drawings, which at least show part of the design process. JO-HAN followed much the same process, too, it seems:
  16. I have seen proof Revell uses 3D printing technology for some kits, but the process is not completely done on the computer.
  17. SAE did an article about how a kit is created in 2000, complete with images of the wood 1/10 scale Lindberg '66 Chevelle and Revell '40 Ford bucks. The International Model Car Builder Museum has pics of the 1/10 buck for Revell's Attempt 1, donated by Tom West: http://www.themodelcarmuseum.org/Acquisitions/WestDonation/westdonation.html
  18. I think George was referring to the "Van Go" Econo in Chris' link.
  19. Looks like it's based on the 1/25 AMT '75-1/2 Ford van.
  20. I highly recommend you get a resin 1/16 SOHC from Mark Johnson: http://www.tedsmodelingmarketplace.com/427-sohc-engine-blown-by-mark-johnson/ Mark's work is top notch, and I received my engine within one week of ordering/paying.
