  1. Sean's and David's posts stated they received their copy of Virgil's book in the mail, which is exactly what this topic is about. You were the first to mention the magazine.
  2. It looks like the "Halibrand mags called out in the instruction sheet are the same wheels Round2 recently tooled up and included with both the Studebaker Avanti and 289 Cobra kits: This would be the reissue to avoid...unless you like the two-piece Revell tires of the late '70s-mid '80s
  3. This seems to be one of those kits of which the original and older issues are still easy to find, often for less than the reissued kit costs. I think this was the previous reissue?:
  4. Who wants to be the first to find out??!!!
  5. The MPC '75 Dart is being reissued: MPC-798 1/25 1975 Dodge Dart Sport The separate trunk piece for the L.A. Dart/wheelstander kit's body is available from Missing Link.
  6. Not possible, as that car never had an interior. I would say it's GM in origin, too, as the rear quarter windows are very '68-'73 Eldorado like, as the "peaked" rear window is also from that era.
  7. Just don't use the MAP gas torch to make the vinyl conform to the model car's body.
  8. I wouldn't grade it as poor, but maybe average. It has fewer parts compared to the Monogram '50 F-1 and the details aren't quite as crisp, but the '50 Chevy does remind me of Monogram's older 1/24 kits- a bit simplified, easy to assemble, and when completed, it looks like the real thing. Ditto, as $14.00 is more in line with re-issue prices. This version of the kit may be worth seeking out just for the decal sheet, though, as the decal sheet (and the Texaco decals in particular) is (are) very, very nice:
  9. I guess a 225/60R-15 isn't quite Gatorback territory, and they are a bit taller and narrower than I was expecting for a 5.0L powered car, or a highway pursuit car. This LX is wearing 225/60R-15s and they fill up the wheelwells fairly well, so it looks like I was wrong about the tire diameter:
  10. What's with the black band at the sides of the windshield? At the top I can understand, but the sides? No windshield perimeter trim, either (yet?)? Is the wide, black waistline trim band a feature of all stock '90 LX notches? Not sure if this one is still totally stock with a stock tires size, but they do look tall, too: http://www.allfordmustangs.com/photopost/showphoto.php/photo/50981
  11. The picture I posted, when clicked on, was a direct link to the website, which was unknown to me. I added the image so people could see what the book looks like, and we addressed the selling issue very thoroughly in another topic, so I removed the image and direct link. And yes, it is a fine, blurry line, with no absolute answer for every possible scenario.
  12. Which tires would these cars have originally been equipped with? Goodyear Gatorbacks?
  13. IIRC the only chopper in 1/24 scale is Monogram's Huey...: ...which I recall Lee(?) mentioning for use as a flatbed load, so it's kind of (barely?) car/truck related, but is in a very common automotive scale.
  14. Here are two pics of the box's long sides (not sure what happened to one of Chuck's pics?):
  15. You mean T.C.'s chopper, like this?:
  16. Here are all the pics I took of the Rat Roaster's parts, as well as a few from the Revell 5-window kit for comparison. If you want to see something else up close, just ask: http://s916.beta.photobucket.com/user/tramhl/library/Plastic%20Models/Reviews/Stacey%20Davids%20Rat%20Roaster
  17. The problem is Moderators can't do anything about a "bad" trader. We aren't going to investigate every bad trade, double check and verify all tracking information, and we have no way of knowing exactly what was greed upon by the traders. Yes, people PM me with concerns about trades gone awry, taking a long time, or when they've been flat out ripped off. I feel bad for anyone who has been on the bad end of a trade (it's happened to me three times), but it's going to happen, and everyone has to decide if any and all trades are worth the risk to them. I even added a pinned Trading Guidelines post to the Trade/Wanted sections to make it perfectly clear that trading is a risk, so there's not much more I can add. My personal preference would be for each member who keep a list in the "Good Traders" post to add a "PM me before you consider trading with __________ ___________ " to their list. It gets the point across, or at least should. The way I look at it, the Trade/Wanted sections here are a bonus for all of us. I'm glad we have them and hope we always do, but if it ever gets to a point where those sections are being abused (like the chat room was ), I would understand if they were no longer part of the forum. There are plenty of places (and one GIANT place, eBay) to sell and buy to your heart's content on the internet, and the MCM Forum just happens to not be one of those places.
  18. Thank goodness Revell had the sense NOT to include some of their horrible two-piece Goodyear Radial GT tires in this kit. No glue exists which can keep both halves together! There was also a Parts for Custom Vans kit, too, which basically contained various parts from the Revell 1/25 scale Chevy van kits... ...and again suggested via the instruction sheet to use the parts on an MPC kit, this time the '71-'77 Dodge vans:
  19. Anthony's signature line is a good example of adding a link to your forum, website, photo album, blog page, etc., so nobody needs to ask, "How do I order a set of Arvin Asp muffler from Joe's Resin?". They can click on the link in your signature line, which will take them directly to your website.
  20. Why not just start a "Best Kit Wheels" topic? We already have a Tires topic, so no need to double up on the tires. There is no ideal forum section for posting kit part resource type topics, so the topics will have to stay in Gen. Disc, and they won't be pinned. Simply replying and adding a clear pic of the wheels and which kit(s) they came from will keep the topic near the top.
  21. The 3-window and Speedwagon both appeared in the 1996 Revell catalog, and the earliest copyright date I see for the Roadster is 1997.
  22. Traffic lanes?? What traffic lanes?
  23. Then you're out of luck. Sometimes you just have to buy an entire kit for one part, then use the rest as trade fodder.
  24. Ah-ha! THAT'S why there are two Moon tanks among the chrome parts. Yes, that box art is fantastic. BTW.
