  1. Looks like DENCON is making the Camaro conversion again: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Camaro-Standard-Nose-Resin-Conversion-Kit-/221195507901?pt=Model_Kit_US&hash=item33804798bd
  2. Maybe the today review is coming tomorrow.
  3. Does anyone have pics of the inline six-cylinder engine included in this kit? And this cartoon box art...
  4. Yep, same 'ol Revell '53/4 Chevy sedan which includes the "gasser" high-rise front leaf springs and straight axle, as well as a blown 409(?). Typical '60s Revell kit, which is to say, not the best, and definitely nowhere close to modern standards. I believe this kit shares many of its parts with the '53/4 Sedan Delivery kit, and whoever did the box art for this kit cleverly disguised the six-spoke billet wheels which were tooled up in the mid '80s when the SD kit was reissued with the Brian Borden(?)-style graphics.
  5. If you haven't visited Sean Svendsen's 'site yet, here's the perfect reason to do so- he created the box art and decals for the last reissued of this kit from Model King: http://www.svensworldofwheels.com/43willyspickup.html I'm not sure what the differences are between the '41s and '43s, but Revell seems to have labeled the kit as both, and the forthcoming reissue under the Monogram(!) label will again be a '41.
  6. Hmmmm, let's see...if I order a dozen, 12 x $1.49 = $17.88. Right on, man!
  7. In my80malibu's defense, he asked for "a better 78/79 shortbed Chevy truck", and I'd have to agree. The Monogram kit looks decent sitting on a shelf, but time has passed it by, and the days of interior tubs with molded in seats, door panels, and armrest detail are thankfully over. I won't even mention there are no floorpans in any of Monogram's Chevy/GMC, Ford F-series, not Dodge Ramcharger kits. I don't see a new series of '73-'86 GM/GMC pickup kits arriving for at least another decade, if ever, but they are definitely needed. In addition to the Monogram kit's shortcomings, the Revell kit(s) is even worse.
  8. A '55 Pontiac...a face only a Mother could love: Now, I like some of the styling details on the above car, like the side trim/color split and rear quarter panel shapes, but the headlight eyebrows, trim strips running the length of the hood, and the baleen looking "mouth" aren't all that attractive to me, especially in light of the '55 Chevy's simplicity up front. The '57 Pontiac's face is even busier, and the dagmars seem excessive and ostentatious compared to the '57 Chevy's: I think the Tri-Five Chevies are the most popular because style wise, they look the best and are the most appealing to the eye, but as we know, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
  9. Fresh is good, and different can also be good, depending upon the subject, but they need to sell, too. The '50 Olds has the early NASACAR overlap like the Moebius Hudsons and '55 Chrysler 300 kits did, but do mid '50s Oldsmobiles, Buicks and Pontiacs have the same multiple marketing avenues to drive sales? There may be an Indy Pace Car version among them, as seen in the original issue of the '55 Bel Air convertible, but that "second" option doesn't seem to increase sales much.
  10. I think the problem would be such a kit could only build it one way with that radical chop and laid back windshield, so sales would be very limited. Yes, you could kitbash the parts, but Revell'd be better off releasing a retro/traditional rod with a more streetable roof height, based on the Rat Roaster tooling. Why wouldn't you want Fujimi just to reissue them? The only reboxed Fujimi kit under the Revell brand I recall seeing were the GT40 curbsides. I had such high hopes when Revell announced it's 1/25 '70, but being die-cast based it was a major disappointment. At least we can pin out hopes on future variants once the 1/25 '70 Hemi 'Cuda kit arrives in a few months.
  11. We need '55 and '57 Nomads, and a '56 Bel Air Hardtop from Revell before we even think about some BOPs.
  12. They don't, and have a much stricter coupon policy than say, Michael's.
  13. Looks like the Customizing boat was reissued no too long ago. I think this is mid-'90s packaging?: The UPC appears to have been added to distinguish it from earlier issues:
  14. Were the center caps on the real wheels two-piece?
  15. This is the correct place to ask questions. As for the Viper, hard to say without a pic, but the early Vipers had the three-spoke "slicer" wheels.
  16. While I won't speak for Gregg, I think that's the same reason this forum exists, and why I often repeat my opinion that the Trade and Wanted sections are "bonuses" here on the forum, and shouldn't be the main and/or only reason for coming here. Brad, what you suggested earlier, sending your part of the trade first is actually the best strategy, and it's been proven that the "all A" method works best, where all parties trust and cooperate with each other, because all parties benefit. See, I did learn something in Philosophy 101. Don't take it personally if someone doesn't want to trade with you, though, as there may be something better coming next. Harry and I discussed the "minimum number of posts in order to post in the Trade/Wanted section", but we both agreed not only does that discriminate against new members, but it does nothing to keep older members from being dishonest, either. As stated in the Trading Guidelines, it's all about trust and accepting the risk.
  17. Michaels still accepts competitor's coupons, so you can always get 40% off your purchase of one regular price item using the Hobby Lobby weekly 40% off coupon. Plus, you can go to sites like http://www.mycraftcoupons.com and see if there's a 50% off coupon from another store which you can print out. I've used coupons from AC Moore and other store which don't even exist in the Milwaukee area at Michaels, so don't ever pay full price there.
  18. First, don't assume people DON'T want to trade with others because they are newer members, but also understand that some may be a bit skeptical when newer members frequent the Trade and Wanted sections after being here a very short period of time. Yes, "old" members have ripped their fellow members off, too, so it's not exclusive to "new" members. You can't make someone trust you, so you have to try to earn it, maybe by offering to send your half of the trade first. Once the trading partner receives his/her half of the trade s/he can ship your package without worry.
  19. I opened the image link in a new window, went to your PB album, hit refresh, and it was viewable, so there's an issue with PB, not the MCM forum. Visit PB's help pages and maybe they have info about why this is happening.
  20. Is the '69 Firebird picture you posted three posts above (#9) not visible to you, Joe?
  21. From the listing: 1932 FORD 5W COUPE MFG. BY AMT KIT #21911 c2008.
  22. See post #50 here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=65062&page=3
  23. It's not uncommon on late '90s- early '00s AMT kits. I have a '60 Chevy pickup with similar chrome plating. The best solution is to remove the existing plating and undercoat, then send it out to be re-plated. I have yet to see a part "chromed" any other way which looks as nice as vacuum plated parts.
  24. There is a pinned post in the Tips, Tricks, & Tutorials section which answers this exact question: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12248
