  1. It was more of a charcoal metallic color. Here's a better pic: I think this grille would be the perfect candidate for a photoetched piece, since the 1:1 grille is polished and annodized aluminum, too.
  2. I picked up a 1/43 AMT '68 Camaro and '69 Chevelle on eBay, which arrived today and I promptly disassembled and washed: ...and a 1/16 scale Tootsietoy Ford Explorer 2-door, from which I robbed these Keystone Rogue-like mag wheels:
  3. Now you just need to master some clear and amber parking light lenses for use with both of those grilles. At one time I had both a '71 and '77, both wearing the early aluminum grilles:
  4. I agree. I've had no problems laying some superglue on the area which seems to allow the "raw" area to harden sufficiently.
  5. That eBay bed is very rough, like it never got sanded with anything finer than 220 grit paper. If you are thinking of having copies cast, take a look at the eBay bed, and see why the areas bewteen the outer bed sides and the bed liner are filled in- it would be near impossible to cast your bed with those narrow, deep channels between the bed sides and bed itself. If you're having copies made, you may want to consider doing the bed as a three piece assembly, with R & L bed sides, and the rest of the bed as the third piece.
  6. Revell '65 Chevy stepside pickup wheels?
  7. Working fine on IE for me. E-mail for contact: Fanplastcs2@hotmail.com
  8. I suggest you make a Super Six 2-bbl intake manifold (and its slightly larger air cleaner assembly), and the aforementioned Hyper Pak 4-bbl intake, too. A Slant Six header would be a good idea, too, even if it's a semi-generic 4-2-1 type.
  9. Why not post this in the "Wanted!" section?
  10. I suspect Testors AMC "Big Bad Blue" is close to Petty/Basin St. Blue, but I've never used it myself.
  11. Good luck getting that disc aligned without and alignment tool. That flywheel looks great. Nice work.
  12. Craig, you might also want to try one of the Revell 1/12 scale Kustom Choppers kits. I think there are eight slightly different versions available for about $13.00 U.S. each, and they were on clearance at Michael's (local U.S. craft store) for $10 or so last time I was there. Personally, I think the Monogram/Revell '69 Camaro Z/28 is a great "first" big-scale build. It's accurate in alost every area, and though it's not super detailed, the finished model is quite nice...plus you have the '57 Chevy Bel Air and '67 427 Vette coupe to borrow parts from, too.
  13. Which scale? If 1/25, the GY Polyglas tires in the mid '90s Revell '69 Yenkp Camaros, etc. are the best IMHO. The MPC/AMT tires look too fat/bulgy to my eyes.
  14. This Revell Snap-together Vette was my first kit, a gift from my Aunt. I can still remember how the decals smelled when I applied them.

  16. Rear tire diameter and width, and rear wheel diameter would be great info to have if you get a chance.
  17. I stumbled upon this article while looking for info on AMT's Wackie Woodie kit, so if '60's SoCal, surfboards and woodies turn you on, click HERE, Daddy-o!
  18. Add to that the Revell '57 Bel Air and '63 Vette snap kits have some of the best 17" (or close) modern mag-type wheels evr kitted- Torque Thrust IIs in the '63 and American Racing Salt Flats in the '57. The wheels need work to be used with normal glue kit tires, but that's a small price to pay IMO.
  19. IMO, in order to even be considered rare, the kit must be: 1) issued only once 2) issued by an obscure or less popular manufacturer 3) issued in an uncommon scale (i.e. not 1/32, 1/25, nor 1/24) and for U.S. builders: 4) a foreign sourced kit I would submit the Fujimi 1/16 Ford Maverick kit, as well as the Frog 1/16 Ford Victor Estate wagon kits.
  20. Yep, both stores rotate stock regularly, so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that they didn't sell well. Besides, HL needs to make room for the GOTGL kit. I did find it interesting that Michael's had marked down all their remaining Revell '08 Bullitt Mustang kits to $5.00 for a while, and now they're back on the shelves at $25.00 Is Chris from MN still on here and still working at Michael's? IIRC, he would always provide a nice heads up when Michael's stores were close to "re-setting" their model section.

    Boss A Bone

Love it!...though I would hate to step on those running boards. I wish Revell would see fit to dig out a few more of the less whimsical Tom Daniel designs like they did a few years ago as part of the SSP.
  22. I noticed the Revell '57 Chevy Black Widow kits were being cleared out (i.e. marked down, on the clearance rack, etc.) and both Hobby Lobby and Michaels recently. It was down to $19.99 @ Michaels, and while that is still more expensive than at full price with the 40% discount coupon, keep an eye on them as they may get down to the magical $5.00 price eventually.
  23. Send me a PM and I can probably help you out.
  24. You used the correct glue.
  25. The Corollas are pretty similar to the same era Celicas, so they should feel familiar to you. 20R engine?
