  1. I'll go along with that. Painted a bunch of Terry Labonte's early cars with that color
  2. I have used the artist type colored pencils on similar situations. They make a bright silver. I sharpen it normally, touch it to my tongue to lightly moisten it, then go over the item to color with the side of the pencil tip.
  3. Sounds like you did everything right, at least all that I would have done. Sounds to me like the decals are bad, and that does happen.
  4. Thanks for the reply concerning the vinegar rusting technique. As far as engine colors, I can't stand a black engine. On my real vehicles, if one comes out, it gets painted a lighter color. That way I can see it there are any leaks or anything.
  5. It might be helpful if you recommend a paint that he should use. I've never attempted to paint over chrome myself I have used Testors and Tamiya bottles to paint on chrome with good results. I thought he might be using a craft paint or a water based product. When painting the panel pictured, I will thin down the color I am using and flow it up to the edges and around the emblems like a wash, then when it it dry, paint the rest with the unthinned paint. This way gives a nice sharp edge
  6. What kind of paint are you using, I believe that's where the problem is. Might try washing the part in Dawn detergent before painting to remove any mold release. On bigger areas like a tail light panel, you could fold up some fine sandpaper and scuff that area up.
  7. STS Designs could make some for you if you can provide some reference pictures
  8. Not familiar with the kit you mentioned, but I use JB Weld on several things I built, even use it for filler. Draw back is the slow set up time.
  9. Looks like you dropped it down a little also. Clean build. Explain what you did with the steel wool and vinegar, haven't heard that one before.
  10. One more question, did you rechrome the bumpers and grill? They look to good to be kit supplied.
  11. Nice work, glad you built a truck. I think they are great kits out of the box.
  12. Always hate to hear that happening. We lost ours that was the next county over a few years ago. Now I have to drive over 1 hour to get to one.
  13. How did you tint the top of the windshield?
  14. That looks good, be nicer in my driveway (full size of course)
  15. I messed up, I remember Tim Boyd (I think) building this kit, but must have swapped in the Old Pro Nova wheels.
  16. Someone correct me if I wrong, but I believe the AMT 70 Camaro has them.
  17. Harts parts resin may have the tail lights you need. Really good people to work with, lots of Mopar stuff.
  18. Wow, I admire you for tackling a detailed project with a slush molded body.
  19. My eyes must be bad too, I don't see any flaws, just excellent workmanship.
  20. MCW has small enamel jars for engine colors
  21. Neat, was that a Sox & Martin old car the real car is based on.
  22. "Ill admit I cut a couple corners. The molded in orange is dumb." Don't look like any corners cut to me and whatever you used to seal that crappy orange worked well.
  23. The stock kit has been reissued a few times, I would find one of those. I bet Spotlight Hobbies would have one. Your on your own on the dent. I tend to make my builds nicer than the subject.
  24. One thing I do before anything is wash the body with Dawn liquid detergent and lightly scuff the bare plastic.
  25. Michael, counting the Dodge and Plymouth AWB kits, just interested to know how many you have done (so far).
