What is your usual recipe for painting bodies?
Shark replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
One thing I do before anything is wash the body with Dawn liquid detergent and lightly scuff the bare plastic. -
Michael, counting the Dodge and Plymouth AWB kits, just interested to know how many you have done (so far).
-
Just seen VCG resins has them in stock for $3.50. They have a lot of great stuff, but many things are out of stock.
-
I believe either Iceman or Texas 3D is printing them. Cheaper than buying a kit.

SOX & MARTIN 1965 A/FX AWB PAPER TIGER PLYMOUTH EARLY VERSION
Shark replied to M W Elky's topic in Drag Racing
I always liked this version myself, with the pentastar on the door and steel wheels on the back. You really got those Moebius AWB kits figured out and as always, nice job -
When I was a little kid taking up the hobby my dad wouldn't let me build one without painting all the parts (with a brush back then). I guess he figured the longer it took to build one, the less he would have to buy.

Where too find yenko deuce decals?
Shark replied to Carson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
If you can't find any, contact Terry at STS. He makes good custom decals at reasonable prices. -
Mark will know. I am sure he will reply when he sees your question.
-
Not recommending this, I once shot a can of paint with a BB gun to let the pressure out and drain the paint.

All of them look great, but I really like the Kiss car the best, same reason. Going to build one soon of Richard Petty's Winston champions car, any tips or things I need to look out for?

glue for resin to styrene
Shark replied to gary jackson's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Are your parts already painted? If so, super glue may frost the finish. I use two part epoxy or sometimes clear enamel paint to bond things. -
Wet sand the letters with some 400

Options for THIS car. Golden Commandos 1964 Plymouth

MCW cast a 64 sedan at one time, don't know if it is in their lineup right now. It uses the Lindberg kit as a donor. He also had the single headlight grill. Call him if it's not available at this time and see when he might make new molds. -
Wishing you well on your upcoming surgery. I had standard replacement about 3 years ago and it went extremely well.

I have quit using Rustoleum paint for that reason. Last incident, I primed and used a grey paint for a circle track chassis and roll cage. Still tacky weeks later, so back in the box it went and used the paint cans for targets.

Wow. Resin kits apparently went WAY up?
Shark replied to Brutalform's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To me the words rare and obsolete mean nothing in the resin business. Any good caster could take a "rare" piece and re-pop it and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. -
Really enjoyed looking at your recent projects. I mainly build circle track stuff, but after seeing all the nice Moebius AWB cars on the forum lately, think I need to get one or two.

Likewise. He is a good historian of the sport. Nice builds there. What do you use for tire lettering?
-
Awesome color

I think your "attempt" turned out quite well.

Grooms Bros. 1965 Plymouth Sedan awb Black Trash II

That's kind of strange, I have used Mr Surfacer (grey) under Tamiya spray before. I did notice your primer is a different variation than the one I use. Don't know if that's the problem, maybe someone else can shed some light on that. Could your primer be old? -
Nice clean build. Funny how some time goes by and you forget about certain cars. I guess it's called getting older.
