  1. I've learned so much reading up on this build. Lettering on the radiator hoses - - - brilliant! Can't wait to see the pics when it's done
  2. Great build all the way around, although I am partial to the perfectly detailed engine compartment!
  3. Quite the stunner so far. Looking forward to seeing it completed!
  4. Thank you much Bob, it was certainly a fun build!
  5. Thank you so much Mario. Given how beautiful your builds are, I consider that quite a compliment!
  6. Thank you David. I particularly appreciate the compliment because it was quite a trick to get it all to fit. As it is, I had to seriously enlarge the transmission tunnel and move the firewall back to get the beast of an engine into its compartment.
  7. Thank you Trevor. I am a big fan of odd engines adapted for road use (such as Jay Leno's tank car), so I can certainly see me doing more of these oddball builds in the future
  8. The engine was completely chrome right out of the box (AMT Custom and Competition Parts Pack)
  9. Tim's version of this car actually had 4 Allisons! (If you can believe it, this is a real car known as "Quad Al")
  10. I was actually looking for just another set of tires and rims for the spares on this build, and discovered that the Black Force is also sold under the name "Looney Tunes - Marvin the Martian" Snapfast models (I'm not even kidding!) The good thing about it is that these are exactly the same model, with all the same parts, for about half the price. The only thing to deal with is the decals on the body.
  11. Are we allowed to describe a car as "bad ass" on this site? BTW, what color are the rims going to be when finished?
  12. Thanks much guys! I tend to be a concept over execution kind of guy - enjoying making crazy ideas come to fruition, but not necessarily having the skills or patience to make every detail just perfect. If I had the talent of some of our fellow builders on this site, my builds would probably take years instead of months.
  13. Thomas, beautiful work on a beautiful car! I always loved the lines of the 3000GT (and even its slightly less favored brethren - Dodge Stealth RT). I owned two of them and drove them a hundred thousand miles each, and loved every minute! I don't recall this color being offered, but looks absolutely boss. The only thing that made the car look dated was the rim and tire combo, which left a lot of wheel well showing. You of course addressed it perfectly by dropping the stance and upping the diameters. Well done Sir!
  14. Why thank you Bill. BTW, it seems to me I recall you having one of these in your stash somewhere....
  15. Hello All, I just finished my interpretation of the "Black Force meets 1440HP Allison V-1710" - thus her name obviously had to be "Allison". She has a stretched body and frame, raised front and rear suspension, with rear axle moved forward 3" scale. The hood has been removed to show off the all-chrome engine, and interior adapted from a '66 Chevy Nova. The overall vibe is from the Rolls Royce Jonckheere, and color choices from Christian Louboutin shoes. Check out my WIP of this build under the same title for additional information and things I learned about the kit and engine.
  16. Hello All, back in April I ran across the AMT/Ertl Black Force snap-together model on this forum and instantly fell in love with the body lines. Kustommerc and Weasel here on this forum had done some beautiful paint jobs on theirs, and 70Mach1 had one posted one with a great custom interior. Right then and there, I decided I would have to do a custom version of my own. Mine though, would have to have an Allison V12 airplane engine to fill out that long nose of the Black Force. As it turns out, after WWII, these engines were sold for $350 as war surplus, and would sometimes be purchased by hot rodders to put in their cars! I found a great version of this engine in 1/25 scale done by AMT/Ertl in their Custom & Competition Parts Pack. Putting the all chrome engine together was a pure joy, and I just couldn't bear to add any color to it - choosing instead to treat it like a jewel to be shown off in my custom car. The only problem with this "jewel" though was just how freaking BIG it was! Even a Chrysler hemi engine in the same scale looked tiny next to it, and it certainly made me wonder how the hot-rodders of yore managed to stuff this engine in their cars. As a result, I decided to stretch the frame and body of my Black Force by 11/16". While I was at it, I decided to scribe the hood off altogether to show off the engine. Since the formal lines and rounded doors of the vehicle reminded me so much of the Rolls Royce Jonchkeere, I decided to leave the black finish in place, and add a red interior. Said interior came from a 1966 Chevy Nova Pro Street which was modified to fit. The floorboard was raised, and headrests added from an old Corvair kit. The model was finished with some extra bits from a second Black Force kit, although it is worth noting that this was actually an AMT/Ertl Snapfast "Looney Tunes" kit. These can be had for much cheaper than their Black Force counterparts, and have exactly the same parts. The only difference is the decals on the body and the name! For pictures of the completed car, I will be posting them shortly on the Model Cars page of this forum. Thank you for your interest!
  17. Wow, you are a magician! Thank you for posting
  18. Very nice build. I particularly like the brightwork. Thank you for posting!
  19. Quite a beautiful build! I am especially liking the interior. The colors totally remind me of Mr. Miyagi's 1947 Ford Super Deluxe.
  20. It's such a tasty color combination for a rare vehicle! Thank you for posting
  21. Just beautiful Tom. With that rich burgundy exterior and saddle tan interior, this car would look right at home next to any Italian exotic. Well done!
