Resto Rod Autocar
Gary Chastain replied to Gary Chastain's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
I Have never ridden or driven an air front suspension. Drove old farm trucks when I was young, learned to drive a GMC crackerbox that rode like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, then a GMC General and a multitude of other trucks. I would imagine that the airbag mounted on top of the front axle would transmit a rough ride right to the frame, then driver. -

Will modify the front springs and build air bags for an air front suspension. Thanks Brian for sending that to me. This will allow me to adjust the ride height to match the rear lowered air springs -

Well, Ihave totally lost my mind. I have not been happy with my build, it became to industrial and not enough hot rod. So it has been sitting while I figure out what to do. I am starting over with the frame , ordered some parts custom wheels, fenders that look more hot rod, lowered rear suspension and will make another try at it. -

I have been away for a few days driving 7 hours down to see my daughter and her family for Christmas and then drive 7 hours back before a snow storm hits us later today. But, 14 hours of windshield time gives a model builder tooooo much time to think. I am not quite happy with the Autocar, sssooooo gonna do some mock-ups tomorrow after I get some sleep. Stay tuned. oh, by the way, I thought of a couple more builds……….Squirrel -

It looks the business, frame length works for me. Just my two cents.
