  1. Pogo stick roughed out, now to recess into the deck plate.
  2. Quick mock-up to check tank fit and exhaust fit between tank and battery box. Deck plates roughed out. May built a set of steps between fender and fuel tank. A lot of little things to make, diesel tank caps, wide tank straps, air line box on deck plate.
  3. Have not seen that product, will check it out for sure, thanks.
  4. Oh man, that is so cool, well done.
  5. Thatโ€™s some outstanding craftsmanship, fantastic build.
  6. Absolutely a one of a kind quality build, outstanding work, well done.
  7. For the most part no I donโ€™t polish, mainly because of the rivets and body detail on the truck cabs. I have sanded and polished parts without all the detail, but not that much. Do polish aluminum a lot. I spent a year after high school at Quincy Tech earning an associates degree in automotive refinishing, that taught me a lot about applying paint. I use light to guide my application, not color.
  8. Love the progress, fun watching what you do when rebuilding these kits. Someday I have to try to rebuild a kit.
  9. After cutting and stacking firewood today, 35 degrees this morning, apparently winter is coming early this year. Got a little progress done on the fuel tanks, setting these up for the wide clamp band on the tanks. Then chrome the tanks and paint the straps body color blue. Battery boxes are chromed and ready to mount. Making slow progress.
  10. Custom shifters built, dash installed, used sewing pins for the brake buttons, next, steering column
  11. You took a very average model kit and turned it into a very special build with your vision and the team work from this group/community was just outstanding. Just a few years ago, a build of this nature would have nearly been impossible. Well done Jeff and all your accomplices ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†. And I bet you are the only builder with road oiler/tar truck.
  12. That was a real journey with a whole team behind you, well done.
  13. What a great story, bringing more life to your build.
  14. Do you know what museum this going to yet?๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ†
  15. Went to the stores today to get another can of Krylon looking glass silver ( a really nice alternative to Revell chrome). I found no cans of Krylon at Home Depot, none at Meier store, none at Hobby Lobby, what the heck. Got home a did some internet search, apparently Krylon has been sold to Rust- oleum ( so the interweb says) and people are complaining about colors changing, formulas changing. So quick trip to eBay and found some. MANโ€ฆโ€ฆi canโ€™t keep up with changing times and all these merging corporate changes.
  16. Congrats on getting into the new home and glad to see you back. Will be watching
  17. Thanks guys, but I do believe that my gray matter is getting foggy (er)๐Ÿคช
  18. Another problem I was concerned with was flexing the hood and frame to align the pins behind the grill. After engine cross member, radiator and bumper the frame becomes very rigid. With the removal of the grill center section and addition of PE grill, I was afraid that I might bend or break those parts. I slotted the hinge pin holes leaving them slightly snug as an easy snap fit, but allow hood to rotate open without falling off. So far it works very well.
  19. To correct the hood to cab clearance/fit, I added a .020 shim to the bottom of the rear cab mount, which raised the cab crossmember to .187 thickness. You can also see the mount could not be attached by kit locating holes in the frame (sits slightly forward).
  20. Revell chrome paint, I wanted to use my Krylon chrome (ish) paint but my spray nozzle broke and got paint everywhere. I like the Krylon because it is a little more polished aluminum look rather than a bright shiny chrome and secondly it doesnโ€™t finger print so bad.
