  1. Got my reissue finally, washed all the parts and started assembling the engines. I’ve got most of the parts separated for paint, sanded mold marks down and am just waiting now for a decent day to paint. Does anyone know if the engines were Pontiac blue? The instructions call for black and I can’t find a picture that shows original color. Dave.
  2. It’s coming along, glass is cut down and installed, interior is just waiting for the dash to dry. I couldn’t help but set the cab on. I’ve got to figure out some struts from the cab to the radiator grill yet along with a few other details but I’m pleased so far. Dave.
  3. Yeah, the original idea was a T but the cab came as an A and since the A’s were better looking, I decided to go that way.
  4. Well, I started going through the box and found two of the engines were missing, 3 tires and some of the bodywork. I stopped there and ordered another kit on eBay. My BIL really screwed me on this one ?
  5. I just read through your build and it’s inspiring. Just got off the phone with my BIL and he wants me to use the original, so I will start unpacking the parts and making sure everything is there.
  6. My brother in law just gave me this to build for him, he’s had it since he was a teenager. The box says 1962. The plastic has been opened and some parts are off their sprues but nothing has been painted or glued. My question is, should I build it for him or should I tell him to keep it as it is. Let me know your thoughts. Dave
  7. I really like that blue.
  8. The frame has been a nightmare!!! It was twisted badly but I got most of it out. Narrowing the rear for the AMT custom tires turned out ok but not great. Finally going to use these wheels, I’ve been trying them on other projects but I’m glad I saved them. I couldn’t resist using the Hemi, won’t be able to run a hood but why would I want to cover up that chunk of iron. I set the body on just for fun but it needs a lot more fitting. I refluxed the doors in place, I just wasn’t up to getting hinges to work… oh well. I think I’m going to go with Tamiya Pearl lime green paint and a tan interior. Thanks for looking. Dave.
  9. Not a lot done today but did replace the cowl which was too short on the resin cab.
  10. As Leica said, the fuel rail looks great.
  11. Here’s the stance I’m going for. rough cut the bed for wheel tubs, the kit came with a quick change rear end with inner disc brakes so I think with a little twitching to the trailing arms I will have no problem with narrowing the axles. The included frame was a mess off twists and turns but I added some square styrene and it straightened out ok. The resin body has horrible door lines and I don’t think it will scribe real well so I’m going to attempt cutting them out and making operational suicide doors. Here we go again Dave
  12. While the real truck was a T, I think the A is much better looking so that’s what I’m going with.
  13. Finished and can be moved to under glass.
  14. This one is complete!!! Really a fun build and I’m happy with the paint. Thanks again for looking and your comments. Dave.
  15. Woohoo… I just priced the gunze kit and it’s wayyyyy out of my price range. I will just continue with the current mods.
  16. Thanks for the comment. I haven’t given up yet but with the paint issues I had I put the body into the purple bath and along with the paint coming off, so did all the filler I had put in. So I got thinking… why not make this project even harder, I’ve decided to open the hood and add an engine. I think I’m going to open the trunk as well to house a battery and run led lights, front and back. This is going to be my winter project and I will post progress as I go. Dave.
  17. It’s a separate piece.
  18. Started looking at my next project. The last vehicle my dad bought was a 29 Model T Truck. Unfortunately he just didn’t have the ability at age 88 to do much with her. So when I found this garage sale find ($3.00) I instantly thought of pops. I always regretted not buying the truck from dad, but he did get top dollar for it. I thought a bought carving up the panel and building it into a truck, but with my Midget conversion still unfinished I didn’t want to get into that much work. I bought a 28 from Jimmyflinstone and thought it would ease the workload, but unfortunately it has a rounded rear to the cab and I need a flat back. I haven’t decided on whether or not to tackle this issue for sure yet but I do like the chop to the top. Fad wanted his stock but if I had bought it I would have done something else with it. So im going to build this one like I’d have wanted to do the real deal. I hope you like it pops. Dave.
  19. Every time I think about building one low I just can’t get past my 60s 70s roots. It’s a really good kit, I enjoyed this one a lot.
  20. Got the BMF on and glass installed. I set the body on, needs a bit of adjustment here and there before I secure it. Closing in on the finish line. Dave.
  21. We’ll work has gotten in the way of progress on the Fairlane but I finally got The paint and clear done. Went with Tamiya Pearl light blue and I’m really happy with the way it turned out. The paint and clear went down so smooth I don’t think I will even try to rub it out, just a coat of polish to protect it I think. Thanks for looking, Dave.
  22. This is going to be fun to watch… following.
