Well there’s another one of my old rides done. This one was tough, dropping freshly painted body and having to repaint it, ten stitches and redoing the interior. But for only my 4th build I think they are progressing. My 3rd car, the MG Midget (MGB) is ordered and I have the Chevelle (not one of my 1:1s) going. Turning the MGB into a Midget is going to be interesting. The last pic shows my very first car,Bug. My second car, Duster. And my fourth car, Dart. Thanks for looking. Dave

I never had a Chevelle. This one’s just for fun, I thought I’d try polishing the body, something I haven’t tried yet.

Well, that’s the renewed interior minus steering wheel, I lost it somehow during the blow up of the cab. Im gonna die over this but I’m using the one out of the GTO kit. On to final assembly. Dave

I picked up these 2 at a garage sale recently. The GTO is such a poor kit I’m going to just use it for parts (not many good ones of those) So while I’ve been waiting on the Dart, I thought I’d take a break from building my 1:1s and work on the Chevelle. It’s not a bad kit from what I can tell and has some possibilities. I set the stance where I wanted it and got busy with my favorite part… the power. Thanks for looking and please give comments. Dave

I can see why that’s your new favorite color. Very nice.

That rear seat is beautiful. -
Yeah, it’s much closer.

Does anyone know how I move this to the under glass section?

Well, this finishes up my first car. Paint is pretty darn close to what I remember and the white interior turned out better than I had hoped for. The Tamiya kit was a jewel, everything fit as it should and the only mods I made were wiring and fuel lines on the engine. This makes my third model since coming back to the hobby after a long long time and I’m really pleased with the result. My paint work on the bodies still needs some work and an investment in an air brush, but for out of a rattle can it’s okay. I’d like to try color sanding but I was too afraid of ruining what I had so I think I’ll try painting spoons etc… to try and learn on. The BMF is coming along… now that I have the right kind. Anyway, I appreciate the views and always the comments. Dave Now to finish that pesky Dart.

That turned out very nice. I have been thinking of doing a garage of 40s and early 50s builds.

There she is. I’m not going to rub it out, I’m really happy with the paint and I don’t want to mess it up. I have 1 little pinhole in the hood but I can live with that. I decided to blow apart the interior and start over with it. I think I can do better than what it was, so it’s soaking right now and I can hopefully get started on it in the next day or two. Dave.

Well I got the foil on the windows. That was the most stressful thing I’ve done in years… and I only had to do two areas. Dave.

Thanks so much.

How long do I wait till I polish? I’m pretty new to all of this.

Well, finally it’s painted and cleared? Now I just need to wait for it to cure and then I can try the trim… I bought some real BMF this time. How long should I wait before attempting this? Dave.

Thanks, stitches out next week, it sucks trying to do intricate things with a claw.

I’ve been doing a bit of work on the bug while my finger heals and have the interior finished and paint on the body. I am going to attempt rubbing out the paint and polishing and have some BMF ordered for the trim… scared to death. Thanks for looking. Dave.

That paint looks like glass… very nice.

That decal and the detail on the front fender bird look fantastic.

1960 Corvair (SMP) restoration -- a replica of my first car

Very nice ride. I am in the process of building my first cars and it’s been very rewarding. I wish I had pics of the 1:1s but I couldn’t afford a camera back then, barely had enough money for gas. Dave.
