  1. The chassis and engine are painted and "married"! The red comes out much brighter and lighter than it is! Since the doors hinges didn't come out at all in print I moved to plan B: Tiny hinges! With these I can fit in the doors without major changes!
  2. Thanks guys! Of course printing opens doors to new, unpurchasable models but as I just posted in the "Plow" thread, it does generate a lot of surface rework unless you're willing to spend lots of money for a high end printer! It is of advantage though if, for example, you need to replace parts.
  3. I think speed is not important in this hobby! You're doing such a great job without printing. Believe me, there's a lot of rework neccessary on printed parts If you are not willing to buy a printer from 1000€ and above. You can tell when you look at my builds up close. The surface needs lots of attention and the material is so hard, you'll have to use diamond sandpaper in order to smoothen it. Means, you only have the chance of a good surface If you use a fill primer and a few more layers of paint than usual. I chose printing because I wanted to build trucks you can't buy as a kit and the resin or printed ones you can purchase are extremely expensive. Anyway, keep going! You couldn't do a better job! It's really fun watching!
  4. Do overs are part of it unfortunately but I'm sure you've got the right ideas to make it work out! Looking good so far! Really nice Job! I'm anxious to see it finished!
  5. Cab fits pretty well! It´ll look better after primering and painting. The chassis is painted and drying!
  6. I get dizzy when I see all those details. I´m speechless! Perfect build! I believe not even the real thing is built with such passion and quality!
  7. Really awesome details! Those steps look like shrunk real ones! Amazing that tiny mesh! That is one beautiful Pete you wouldn't see on the road everyday either! You can be really proud of that build! ?
  8. The print of the cab came out fine, the doors and the sun visor didn't! The door hinges were actually missing in both sides. Have to design new ones and somehow integrate them. Either a new print or maybe a thin tube. I'll have to think about that!
  9. I decided to post a few more design pics: I know it's probably not all correct but I can live with it! Some day I might do more research and make corrections! The chassis is ready for painting:
  10. No problem! As I said back then, I didn't mean to offend anyone. Didn't think that anyone would still feel annoyed by it today. I followed the rules since then and it wasn't my intention not to follow them back then. I admit, I missed reading them in the beginning and therefore made mistakes. Hope this is not going to follow me eternally.
  11. Sorry again. That was one and a half years ago and I had appologized for that mistake! Thought that was over!
  12. I started printing and assembling the chassis. Looks a bit strange because I used a few parts out of the parts Box which I had printed Long before. Thought I'd use up some Stock before I continue printing new parts. Unfortunately the printing of the front springs which we're already connected to the frame by design didn't come out very nice. Had to do a bit of repair work. Luckily they will hardly be visible later! Chassis is higher at the rear because of the rear axle but the the wheel centers will be on the same level!
  13. Thanks everyone! Glad you like it! ?
  14. Thanks, so am I! ? I'm working on perfectioning the fit of parts by copying parts into one file to see if everything fits together. If not I can measure all areas where I have to correct things and then improve the original files! Especially the fitting of hoses and pipes in the engine periphery can be exactly measured and designed. That's the theoretical part! Fitting the printed parts the practical part. Hope they don't differ too much. Normally they come out within a max tolerance of 1 tenth of a mm!
  15. Hi everyone, I'm back with a new project hoping it turns out like I expect it to! Since I haven't got a cabover with a day cab yet, I thought it would be a nice idea! Nothing spectacular, just a Pete 352. Here are some pics of the first designed parts: The cab with roof, doors and sun visor. It's also my first self made model with opening doors! The grille bumper chassis with front springs More will follow! I'm planning a short single axle trailer which I will take over from my "Big Nasty" rig but with smooth sides and a cooling device. But that comes later! Hope you'll enjoy the build!
  16. Thanks very much, Randy! The next project is already in the pipeline! First pics of designed parts will be posted soon. I'm still trying out some new ideas in designing.
  17. Unbelievable! Not just having the knowledge of all those details but building it with that accuracy is far from any competition! You should sell those models, you could make a lot of people happy and earn quite some money with it too! I'm absolutely stunned! Thanks for sharing this!
  18. Thanks for following and your great comments everyone! I posted the finished tractor in "Under Glass"! The next project is already in the design workshop (I like to call it that, sounds good!) ? Pics of the first designs will be posted soon!
  19. Hi Folks, I just finished a 1960 Autocar DC75T which I had designed and printed using pics from the net. Now that I managed to add licence plates, air lines and other small stuff I decided to share it, even if it's not my best model. I tried to make it look like an unprofessionally but with love restored oldtimer. Hope I succeeded! Hope you enjoy it!
  20. Looks nice! Neat work!
  21. Thanks! Actually the designing is what I enjoy most meanwhile! Of course building a model is fun too but the challenge of capturing the shapes of the real thing is exciting! It doesn't work everytime though. I quit designing a Road Commander because I wasn't able to create the complex geometry of the cab! Got a lot more learning and practising to do at that point! But I won't give up! I'll present the next project soon!
  22. I know it´s far from a bought kit but still I like it. The next project is already in design and it will be much better in surface quality! Maybe I´ll give you a sneak preview in a few days! ?
  23. I think it´s more or less finished. Air lines are fixed, mirrors, marker lights (they don´t look that bad after all!), turning signals, ... Only the licence plates are missing. I´ll put those on sometime this week! Also got some self made decals. Nothing amazing but I guess they´ll look alright. I´ll show you when they´re on!
  24. You´re probably right there Brian! Maybe I´ll give that a try! Thanks for that input!
