This was based on an old Hot Rod magazine feature headed 'Joe Nitti's purple deuce' built way back in the 1970s and probably looks nothing like the real car, neither a Hi or Lo I used what had. Monogram Continental hub caps, Revells Blue Streak tyres, side pipes from Li'l Coffin plus long forgotten other parts. It was also my first attempt at a spray job using real car paint and primers. Hope you like it, I still have it

Really nice, as Harry says, "The best Batmobile ever" I built mine from a Futura kit and what I had at the time and now they are doing photo etch stuff. Still not quite finished after 20 years haha.

Lincoln Futura, another Revell multipiece
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in Model Cars
As promised, some more pics. This was built from the first of the SSP series. Some more coming soon with a conversion to the Batmobile -
Great model, not tried one yet. I like the way you have not over cooked the engine bay, trying to replicate everything just makes it look cluttered. And the foiling on the letters, it took me ages to get it right doing it the way you have but well worth the effort. Thanks for showing, JTee

I have not ordered many items but what I have is excellent quality. Just received a 50 Cadillac ordered in June. Also just wondered if their business will be taken over or will that be the end of these wonderful models. Cheers, J -
Lincoln Futura, another Revell multipiece

Doobie, I'm in Chelmsford, Essex. I used to take this to the hot rod events model shows and pose it next to a Batmobile conversion I have. That is still packed away after years and when I last looked was still in one piece. When I do eventually get it out I will post some pics. The colour is just something I picked out as a near match to a Ford calendar featuring the Futura that I have someplace. I cannot remember the exact colour sorry. May turn out too be GM The original intention was to metalise the stand with that aluminium powder. Something else I never got around to. I shall try to take a few more pics, probably to compare it with my Bat Wagon sometime in the future. Thanks all, J. -
Here is Revells Futura, another from the archives, this one built from the 1990s re-issue. I always wanted an original of this but they were so hard to find, even on the dreaded 'Bay'. After the SSPs came out lots of originals were appearing and I got one very reasonable. I just love this model but the 1-1 colours did not suit my display cabinet at the time so painted it again in rattle can acrylic. Left out the figures, used the kit tyres and Bare Metalled most of the chrome. The model aircraft stand was a moment of mad inspiration, It sort of makes the model look like it is a jet taking off. Not the greatest pic but the only one I have. Hope you Like , John

Thanks for al the compliments. The sides of this were warped outwards a little, like an almost straight banana so getting it together was a bit of a job. I also built the re-pop Ford that went together easy and the Continental MkII which looks gorgeous. I'll dig it out sometime. I built all the reissues when these were re-popped some 20 years back why were the mercury and Buick left out of the series? Anyone know?

Cheers fellas, I was going old school(or is that Skool) on the Merc. AMT with full fadeaways etc as on the Ayala/Baris Louis Betancourt car. Maybe the Revell model may offer better options with the top. I have an old magazine someplace that shows how to chop the AMT, a bit like the real thing, maybe an old Street Rodder magazine. The 36 Ford I want to do Westergard style or maybe Rod and Customs never ending project rod. Thanks again, J

I built this a few years ago, just thought I would like to show it. It is an original 1/32 multi piece body that goes together ok but needs patience. The body is painted rattle can acrylics and I added some clear plastic to form the windshields and metal foil for the trim and where the chrome was worn

1956 Cadillac - Class of '56 - Graduate # 12
HotRodaSaurus replied to Ramfins59's topic in Model Cars
A Great looking model Richard. Love to see more Cadillacs modelled other than 1959s. I am curious though on what kit this was based on or was it an original Modelhaus master? -
Loving the interior especially. That cracked dash is something so true to so many cars from this era. A real neat touch

A real nice take on this kit, nice to see it in red This can go together real nice with a little time and patience put into it. I built one in a metallic blue, also a Batmobile version though that was way before the latest Polar Lights 1/24/5th. The kit was always on my most wanted as a collectors item and I still have an un built original hard box Revell issue someplace(I only really collected box art). As for pricing, I once put up for sale a Pyro 52 Chevrolet fast back on the dreaded 'Bay', I expected to get around £20 at the most as it was mint. I was pleasantly surprised when two bidders got into a war and it went for £80(about $140 at the time). Maybe the $129 Futura seller had seen a previous similar sale to mine and hoped to ride the wave? $25 sound better though

Looks gorgeous . I never finished mine as I did not like the stick on paper interior door panels but this looks great and a model of my favourite version of the Mighty Duesenberg

Airfix 1/32 Ford Escort MK1 - back to the 70's!
HotRodaSaurus replied to Mattblack's topic in Model Cars
A nice little build. A reminder of the mid 70s custom craze in the UK. Don't forget the flared arches, Wolfrace wheels and a red light shine on the axle As a standard road car they were a bit bland but one that a lot of driving schools used for us learners. Most survivors these days get the MEXICO treatment these days. -
59 Ford Skyliner retractable - built last year
HotRodaSaurus replied to Sixties Sam's topic in Model Cars
Nice model, I only ever had the old flat box with this on the artwork. I never really fancied it as it looks a lot like the assembly of the Ford Country Squire. Funny how this style was not adopted very much on the real cars back then. Nowadays, especially on European convertibles these foldaways are now common with a little refinement -
Sorry no pics but I have an Airfix rail crane similar to this link picture http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AIRFIX-CRANE-KIT-NEEDS-FINISHING-/291526242379?hash=item43e051704b As with the one in the picture can anybody help me with details to re-string it please. I bought a job lot of old Airfix trains and I was surprised to find how detailed these models are, as when stung correctly this crane will work as the real thing. Anyway, thanks for any info and if anyone has a link or whatever, Cheers J

A great build, I wish I had found this before I bought my Tamiya version. it would have fit in with my other race car models. Yet to build it but I am going for the Jackie Stewart version, one of our greatest drivers from a very different era compared to todays F1 scenario's. Am I correct in saying the crash in which Francois Cevert was killed was a deciding factor in Stewarts retirement? J

A quick Microsol question.
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Ok thanks all The JoHan decals are quite common I believe so may go that way and acquire some new items......as long as they are not all cracked up. Cheers, John -
I have an old JoHan Plymouth I am restoring but is has all the custom parts and every decals glued to it. Probably built by a youngster back in the 60s. So my question is, Will a dab of Microsol soften up the decals so they could be possibly be removed, saved and re-applied to this old time custom. The bodywork is unpainted. Or any recommendations for removing and saving decals? Thanks all, J
