  1. Ok I am bit of a casting virgin but what is the difference and what are the advantages of each resin. I have asked this on other sites but not had a really clear answer though I believe casters such as Modelhaus used polyurethane. Help me please as I have lots of polyester resin and thought it may be some use but........? Cheers, John
  2. Tamiya Lola T70. Kit for £79 + spray paint, other paint, foil, new glue. No photo etch for this back in the 90s so time like most of us was the main event. probably came to around £150.
  3. Monogram's Rommel's Rod has both an officer cap and infantry steel helmet on the skeletons. A bit of silicon, some resin and you are on your way
  4. I need to know how accurate are the figures of Jungle Pam, Linda Vaughn and Elvira(Cassandra Peterson) (posts 11-12 hehe)
  5. Love these little cars, just right for our European crowded little streets. A French model kit company called Record did a model kit of this and the more sporty looking Floride, both in 1/24 or 1/25. They sell for loads if you can find one. Record still exist but concentrate on 1/43 die casts or resins now.
  6. Nice model, I built it in 1/32 for slot racing. The real thing looks as fresh today as it did then.
  7. Very nice Love the old paint display I had heard the re release is not the same moulding as the original, true or false? I have an original that needs restoring in the wings at the moment. For sale-keep-for sale-keep-for sale-keep? Not sure at the moment, love these old Monograms
  8. I really like this but don't get the chance to build much these days but there are a few projects and half finished kits stashed away. One of my to do projects was one of these, bought like yours, built but unpainted, or at least stripped, also a lot of the details sanded off. Not really sure what to do, sell or build(one day) with it but this does give me inspiration. My real question here is what kit did your wheel covers come from please. Cheers, J
  9. That would be right at home at the 'Wasteland Weekend'. No one has mentioned it so here is a link to an episode of Jay Leno's Garage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP5dJYQtfEU Hope it works, if not there is a YouTube feature on the 'Weekend'
  10. Not seen that issue before a little more help, thanks.
  11. I have to say , THANKS to just about everybody here for their replies I'll read through the lot over a few times. I did have the Barris custom books at one time but alas, no more. I remember the quartered roof, yes it did look a mess and I thought it HAD to be done that way. One thing I remember about the Revell chopped Merc is the front screen did not look that realistic for some reason. Some great parts in the kit though. Cheers all
  12. Thanks for the info fella's The Barry Mazza feature is real neat.
  13. Looks a bit like the Jack Calori coupe from the cover of a 1949 Hot Rod magazine, though that had Buick skirts. Does this kit come with a pre-chopped top?
  14. I have the Revell kit for the bits but also an old stock AMT Mercury. I would like the challenge of how to do it the old fashioned way. Anyone built one or got a link? Cheers, John.
  15. "Nestles Milky Bar" Not Milky Bar by Nestlay
  16. I always thought it pronounced Porsha One of those words, a bit like Cafe Racer. Need to know how to really pronounce it, ask a German from Germany and not someone whose family emigrated years ago. As for Cafe Racer, Yanks pronounce it Café as in Kaffay but to be historically correct it is pronounced Kafff Racer. Mike Seat hasn't got a clue, another attempt to rewrite our(English) history)
  17. I use Photobucket. The real thing that annoys me about it is you log on, then get a pop up(from Photobucket) with an 'X' to close it. But this will not work, you have to close the page, then open back up and the pop up doesn't come back till next day or whenever.
  18. The Ghia L6.4 (sort of Duel Ghia). Probably my one favourite to have as a kit. Corgi did a die cast and someone else did a poor rendition in 1/32(Hong Kong plastic toy) More than likely not enough interest in it though.
  19. Nice, despite your reservations. I built most of the 1/32 Gunze range, primarily as slot car conversions though missed this one out. I did notice the styrene is more brittle, more like coloured clear that is used for windscreens(shields). Personally I would have left off the continental deck. The Gunze cars were great for the track, my favourite was the Impala but my son always nabbed the 59 Cadillac as the back swung out and could knock the following car off the track. The tyres can also be used on slot tracks using slower older cars and the custom parts wire wheels can be cut and glued for other stuff that uses those aluminium screw on types.
  20. Should have known that, I built a couple. Thanks,
  21. Got to ask, Revell 1/32 or other(Modelhaus)
  22. A great kit of a very interesting car I had the BIG scale version by Bandai, 1/16 I think? Sold it to someone on here(in Australia) I believe.
  23. Fantastic and unusual to say the least. I too thought it was a 1-1. I have only ever seen the old Corgi version. Does the real thing still exist? And what about the racers on the transporter, are they kits or die casts or even more scratch built. Stunning
  24. Love the new 'slant' on the roof chop(pun intended). Better than the out of box chop, this one flows so much better in my opinion though I prefer the fully framed doors myself. Cool colour too
  25. Hello, also from Europe(at the moment haha) and welcome to the board. I also build motorcycles(Hayabusa ) and cars. Enjoy the posts , Johnny Tee
