I had the 55 hardtop but the roof piece was non usable and the body had started to bend like a banana. Yellow plastic(acetate). Bought from eBay in their golden years it was fairly cheap including postage to the UK , I sold it on around 12 years ago for £25 and thought I got a reasonable price for it. Sorry no pics.

Sorry for a late reply but moved house recently and pending some internal renovations, so no models out of boxes at the moment. I love seeing 60s as though they may not be as popular as the 59 model year the 1960 is so much cleaner a design. I am also working on a 1960 Flat top using the Monogram/modelhaus body and an Olds flat top roof the Modelhaus used to put out as that is the real car I had 30+ years ago. Here is a prototype build using the Gunze Sango 1/32and a Coupe version also Gunze. Cheers, J

WoW a 1960 ?. A beautiful model, I never realised this pink was in the catalogue, is it metallic? I have this model in my collection. Bought as a built kit it is finished in a most professional way as if built as a shop display and was wondering if this was ever so? My wife bought me the 1959 version, a mint kit from eBay a few years back but I had to promised to build it. Completing this trio I have also a re-pop of the Exel 1958 Sixty Special, this is my favourite year Cadillac and the Special comes out tops. Modelhaus produced a 1960 coupe as you may know but this has the same poorly shaped hood as the Revell-Mono, I mention this as I had a real 1960 to compare with though most modellers appear happy with the Revell Mono moulding of this piece, the JoHan is so much nearer the mark, and also the Franklin Mint die cast. It just about gets away with the rear deck shortening. Mine is a dark turquoise green, not a brushwork on it, the silver being painted perfectly. A great build, thanks for showing.

Amazing to see this shape, not as popular as the coupes or convertibles. The other 4 door style has a slightly taller roof style but only the old Johan's have that. Have to say the 1960 is my favourite year, check my avatar, that is a flat top sedan. Years ago I built a replica of it from the Gunze Sango 1/32 kit. It was available before Monogram's pink convertible I believe and the only thin available other than the Johan at the time.

That is a beautiful model in my favourite colour for almost any car. Looks like it goes together well. I sat in one of these cars, it was for sale and previously belonged to the Italian actress Silvana Mangano. I wanted to buy it but did not have the money, £5000, so that was as far as I got. No camera phones in the early 1990s so just memories of a green Goddess.

I guess the company(Monogram?) Thought 'There are some people out there who will buy another Red Baron just to have the latest packaging' Who cares if it never gets built, thats another few $$$ in the bank, Oh yes and there is a limited edition of 40,000 I did have every Li'l Coffin issue in every box at one time but I really liked the old artwork , though I built the modern issues somehow the boxes are still hanging around even though they are just to boring to be bothered. My favourite box was the Mattel era full artwork haunted House box.

Hoping I am not hi jacking here, but here is my Continental. If I remember I cut the dash away behind the screen to hold the shape of the 'Glass'. The glass is not Evergreen clear but just .2mm clear plastic. It does cloud up using Super glue to fix but that can polish out

Yes fair enough but does/has any person living or dead ever had the name Bullitt, i.e Peter Bullitt, Geoffrey Bullitt etc. It seems a weird name that I cannot find any reference to, no obituary's etc.

I have got to ask as apart from the movie I cannot find any reference to any person named Bullitt. So, it it a real name or something made up like many of Charles Dickens characters. Great kit going on here, there is another being built only a key stroke away

Way back when the Pro Modeller 69 Charger came out I bought that, but it stayed unbuilt. I was hoping a resin caster was going to produce a 68 front and rear end but I don't know if it happened. Next thing, Revell produced the 68 Dick Landy race car and yes I did complete a sort of replica using the Revell 68 Dart hubcaps. And yes I built a sort of Bullitt lookalike using the 67 Mustang from AMT though there were definite differences here, mainly the hood and side pods for those roof vents. I never did finish that one, just painted it rattle can dark metallic British Racing Green. It came out ok and the pair were really built for my small son as he thought the chase was so good on film. A shame as they now sit boxed in my loft covered with a ton of dust that appears to be welded to them. Now I know there is a source for that hood I may restore them both some day...you never know.

Thanks Paul Have you looked at the Franklin mint die cast 1/24 Eldorado hood? It is a better shape than both the Revell/Monogram and AMT Ghostbuster Ambulance. To build a mould would mean a little work but looks far better and it almost fits as is except where it butts up to the windshield chrome. I think we are the only two on here who look at the Revell piece and think it looks off, even Modelhause's 60 has the original re popped with all the faults. This is the Franklin part

As a die hard 1960 Cadillac fan, in the real world it appears most enthusiasts want the 1959 version, breaking(parting out as the US say) 1960 cars to keep 59s on the road. I know a few owners in the UK but have never known anyone to break a 59 to save a 60. Most of it is the same but not every thing especially the floorpan and transmission casing as you can change a 60 trans into a 59 but not a 59 into a 60 and some other related parts. In the model world we can do what we want though it would be interesting in how may builders would like a 1959 vs a 1960. Many on here would like the 60 especially me, though I would prefer the hardtop to the convertible. A great project and I'd love to see the finished model

This is fantastic, I am going to build a 1960 version as that is what I owned(see my avatar), I was also going to use the Modelhaus roof. Paul, I do hope you don't think I am trying to hijack your post but I built this 1 /32 version many years ago when Gunze Sango brought out their 59, and built a 60 out of it.

Real nice, I had heard of the JF but never seen a built up ?. His Hirohata Mercury looks to be chopped just a little too much.

A guy into early models told me that during the 1950s/60s production runs the very early kits such as Revells 1/32 Ford, Buicks etc also the 1/25 Cadillac, Ford Country Squire, parts were manually removed and the excess sprue's were sent to be put back into the pot. Another thing was that the repops of these kits had to be put into slightly larger boxes as they(Revell) no longer employed people to do this. Now it has gone as far as putting the kit into a standard Revell/AMT sized box to save even more $$$. Cheers, J

I thought that too, and a great colour though I would imagine it is a little darker in real light. I had planned something on the style of Matranga'a Mercury but with a fadaway and the Ford is a little easier to obtain than a model Mercury

That was the general idea Michael, I never realised so many were so passionate about things like this. In the UK we appear to go full on demonising everything when a well known personality sponsors it(David Attenborough). Also on out agenda is the demonising diesel motor vehicles. What is the connection here? That diesel fuel and motor vehicles are being are being taxed in a way to make these vehicles uneconomic to use, and will items containing a certain % of plastic also be unrealistically priced. Just my thoughts and yes will our models also be 'taxed' due to the % of plastic in the box ?
