Remember this in the hobby shops back in the 60s-70s. There was something similar that had a hemi powered toilet in it with twin tubs by Bob Reisner?

I'm a fan of both the original and the Bat. Some of the ideas would be used on production cars though the bubble tops were never really in the running. As to the comments on all the junk Barris put on it! Hey, it was for a TV show about a crime fighter. You don't hear many adverse comments on James Bond's Aston DB5 with all the guns and stuff and that was just as far out as gadgets go. All the arguments count for nothing if Barris had not bought it, the car may very well have been scrapped looking at the state it was in when he got it. Fantastic, in both versions

Lovely model and nothing wrong with the stripes, just a little trim at the grill.

To resurrect an old thread Just got back from Germany and had a trip on the Ring. Made it safely round and set a record for the slowest lap in a Peugeot 406 Diesel Estate

Thanks for those answers, very helpful

Thats gorgeous, especially in black I love the 60 Cadillac, probably because I owned one(see my avatar ) and more so that the much more popular 1959. This looks really great, is it a Modelhaus body kit with their front and rear ends? Just looking though, the side trim looks a little more 59ish than the 60 as 1960s Eldorado had two smaller bands of chrome trim following a similar line to the 59 with paint separation in between. Cheers for doing a 1960s, John.

Many thanks, really great help Many on here have said they had to re-chop the Revell custom Mercury so I would rather start from a stock kit.

Love the chop Looks so much neater than the Revell kit. Have you any build up shots of where you cut it please.

Kenneth Howard A.K.A. Von Dutch
HotRodaSaurus replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was an episode of American Pickers where they were raving about a motorcycle Dutch built, a combination of an old Harley Davidson with a VW engined hybrid. Much as I love Dutch's style etc, personally I think this bike just looked like what it was, a Harley with a VW engine in it. Nothing special, did not have any real 'Classic' look about it, the only real thing that made it interesting was Von Dutch built it. The way Mike Wolfe was going on about it you would have thought it was the greatest custom bike ever built when in fact it just looks ugly(to my eye). I also think Mike Wolfe used up the show's quota of the word 'Cool' just on the bike -
Great model Bernie, I have an old original to restore, one day . Just don't seem time these days but thats life. Hey Bob, just how many $$$ to chrome the full size, and worse, how many hrs polishing it out And for anyone visiting the Wiesbaden area of Germany, here the Baron finally lies. This is a family grave as the Red Baron was originally buried in both France and (East Berlin)Germany. His stone is at the front. Anyone wishing more details PM me please as this is a modelling forum

Renwal '66 Pierce Arrow 4 door Exner concept
HotRodaSaurus replied to realgone58's topic in Model Cars
Only the second revival I have seen built up, looks great. The profile looks vaguely like an E Type coupe(XKE), the sort of thing customisers had a go at in the 70s -
Nice , I built one in red and cream It's an old Revell 1/32. No glass included but with a little patience they can be made to look real nice. I think they made a 55 as well.

A new trend selling kit parts?
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ok just had a look and their are a few threads on parts sellers. To be honest If I were a rich guy with an unbelievable amount of money i would just stick a silly bid in and just about know i would win, whether someone would bid me up would not matter as my banks interest would be accumulating at such a vast rate(I base this on the oil sheik sons accumulating parking tickets at the Dorchester a few years ago). I had not seen kit bits sold as single items though, many looking from new mouldings, read grey plastic. Recently I built some slot cars from Monograms 1/32 scale stuff using only the bodies, glass and chrome parts so may offer the rest to anyone who may make use of it. If they only sell for a little, as long as it the price covers the listing fees and my walk to the post office it's a better rate of interest than money in the bank. Thanks Pete, I'm going to have a good read through that thread, some interesting points in there Seeya, J Now has anyone got that headlight for my Monogram Sport Coupe. -
A new trend selling kit parts?
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well Sir, I didn't see it and yes I did a search, so stared something I though may be of interest. I don't check in every day or read every post so I expect multiple similar topics crop up now and again -
A new trend selling kit parts?
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I sort of remember that one. Didn't they sell near complete, restorable and a few glue bombs leold kits rather than individual parts? -
A new trend selling kit parts?

I used to collect old AMT trophy series, Annuals plus the odd vintage Monogram boxes just for the artwork. Boxes from Black Widow, Green Hornet, Amt's 49 Mercury and Romme's Rod, that sort of thing. Most came with a few odd parts, often a mixture of the stock parts and custom bits in the case of my 49 Merc. Maybe this could be a way to make a few £ if i have no use for them in the parts box Yes postage can be a bit of a killer for international destinations but how rare is that part? I need 1 headlight for an old Monogram 1/20th Sport(Deuce) Coupe, never seen a cheap box of bits, may consider re-popping the remaining one if I never find a cheap enough incomplete kit. -
Following on from my Parts Count in Vintage kits post I just had a look on the dreaded 'Bay' and there appears to be a new way of making cash from old kits, or maybe, even new ones. Selling breakable or missing parts for a single $ or £ you could make about $$$+. Would you pay the prices for a set of wheels for a project or one of these hinges rather than purchase a new kit for your restoration? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1969-Plymouth-GTX-Hood-Hinges-1-25-Scale-AMT-/322037950409?hash=item4afaf527c9:g:pnAAAOSwBahVVhZ2 Please note though, I am not picking on anyone here as I don't know if this seller is a member. Just a listing I spotted looking at some kits available. Cheers, John.

There are also a couple of films titled The Fast and the Furious not related to the modern series. One, a hot rod film staring 50s stalwart John Ireland and Dorothy Malone, the other a comedy mystery staring Franchot Tone and Ann Sothern. Nothing to do with motor racing, just thought I would point it out.

Thanks for that I did check a while later and found they had closed up for a while. just got in an order a few months earlier. Does anyone know if they(The Modelhause) will be selling their business on? I could not see their moulds and services just dissapearing surely

Parts count for vintage kits
HotRodaSaurus replied to HotRodaSaurus's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
When I was a kid one of my first kits was the Airfix B17 Flying Fortress. Not only was the box art fantastic but all the gun turrets rotated and elevated, the flaps flapped the rudder rudded, and he wheels revolved and went up and down(if you didn't go overboard with the glue) the only thing missing was the bomb doors didn't open. So I had to get the Revell Memphis Bell. All down to lots of parts -

I have a couple of JoHans like that from the early days I'm thinking of selling a Monogram Sizzler soon and that has a parts count on the box I know all the parts are there but it is 1 short after counting box base decals and instructions. I don't want someone sending it back saying "There is 1 part missing". I can only guess it is the paper catalogue. As a kid I also built an Airfix Short Stirling as that had a massive parts count but a fair amount were at the little two part bombs for the loading trolly and tractor. But like great artwork on all kits back then, that little trolly with the bombs on was the decider.
