Pic Posting Help Needed.....
Len Geisler posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know the obvious answer is to change hosts again, but I really don't wanna do that again... Anyone have a suggestion other than that? I'd really like to post some pics, but now....I dunno.....thanks.... -
Guys.... I tried the other board, still not sure why I go back there I think it has become like a car crash ....Anyway, I just received my third First Issue AMT 63 Corvette Convertable, and I have some restoration questions so here I am... Over the past year I have aquired two more built ups that are in need of restoration, one is in much worse shape than the other. What I would like some opinions on is should I use all the original kit parts, and possibly some Modelhaus repro parts (IMHO, no different than a 1:1 guy going to MidAmerica), or should I use some of the newer 1/25th chassis parts from the Revellogram 67? I'd like to build a nice, and accurate 63 convert with working headlights. I should also mention that I plan on using a combination of PE and Keith Marks decals for the body markings. So gang, wadda ya think? Should I use only the AMT parts I have and Modelhaus items as needed, or do I do a "resto-mod" of sorts? Thanks......

Royal Pontaic Color Question....
Len Geisler replied to Len Geisler's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Thanks Paul!!!!!! -
The reference sheets that came with the decals say the car should be metallic red...Can anyone eloborate any more? The decals are a Cady set for the 68/9 S/S Firebirds of Royal Pontaic, and for the 68, metallic red is all I got. If someone maybe has a color picture of something, that'd be great too... Thanks again in advance....

Guys... I am just about donw with my 2 Vette projects that I had on the bench and am preparing for a couple SS CUda builds. I picked up three of the AMT Cudas at Big Lots, @ $5 each and grabbed the Judy Lilly, Jeggs and Mr 5 and 50 decals from my LHS. What I need to know is what width tire would these cars run? Also, were they normally tubbed? I ask about being tubbed because Bandit resins makes a tubbed chassis for these cars, and if they are supposed to be tubbed with really wide tires, I would like to build at least one of them with a nicely done chassis. Any input would be appreciated as always.....

If memory serves me correctly, S/S became P/S sometime in the late 60's early 70's but I am not sure when. If somone can shed some light on this onme for me, I'd be greatful. I am closing iin on the finish of my two current projects, and my next will be a drag project, and I like to be as close to accurate as I can. Also, can some one help with tires sizes between these two classes? I am debating building Judy Lilly S/S Cuda and a Bruce Larson USA 1 Camaro P/S and like I said, the closer the better. I am not rivet counter, but i like things to be close... Also if there is a website where i can look up old rules and classifications (NHRA.COM???) that'd be cool too... Thanks in advance!!!!

"Z"ing a chassis.....
Len Geisler replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bob / Patrol52, Thanks for the tips!!!! Seems I may have an option or two.....Now where is that razor saw..... -
I am gooing to "Z" the frame on a pick up truck to build a ratted out pick up. My question is, should "Z"ing a frame shorten the wheels base?, or should I lengthen the frame at the cuts? Anyone know how it is done in 1:1??? For my purposes, shortening the frame abit in the rear isn't a big deal as I need to shorten the p/u bed any way. As always, any and all input is appreciated....

Unfinished Chopped Merc????
Len Geisler replied to Len Geisler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Seems that they may..... Thanks, as i want to build a chopped, but unfinished version of the Merc..... -
I have been thinking about building a "Pro Touring" C2 Vette. Other than the Accurate Minatures GS kits, was there ever a C2 with a seperate chassis??? If not I will end up using the AM kit, but at this point I'd like something alittle more realistic and not a full blown race car on the streets.... Thanks in advance..... .............building again and it is great.......

I want to build one of the Revellogeam Mercs to look like it was just chopped. Bare metal spots at the cut points, some rough, unground welds on the body. Maybe weather it a bit. If available I'd like to see one right after it was chopped, no prep or finish work done, so I can simulate the cuts on my kit close to where the real cuts should be.... Thanks in advance......(3 new Mercs and counting)

How about some Re-Introductions?
Len Geisler replied to Steve H.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm Len Geisler, I am an automation systems applications engineer, with a specality in the wireless field. I live in NW NJ, close to the PA and NY borders. Kinda of a "Lone Wolf" builder, have attended some meeting of the TSMCC, but since I moved and they did, I dont have the time to make the drive... I have been modeling since the mid to late 80's and been reasonably serious about buying at lest the past few years. I like to build, Vette's, rod, customs and pick up trucks of all different flavors. I am finally getting back in line and getting some building done and working on two Vette's and looking forward to starting my Revell Merc.... I have also recently changed my thoughts on building hows and whys.....If it looks good to me, it is good.....Since I changed my methodology ( Thanks largely due to the writtings of Drew Heirwater ) I have gotten more stuff done. When I was counting rivets and matching paints, I got almost nothing done..... -
Nice build, I want to lift one too, just have not figured out just how I wanna do it!!!!
