  1. George, If you ask me your missing out on something great here......I think it is $10 well spent.....Plus a MR. WILLITS and some others have said, you pay that $10 for a magazine, not adds, no junk, just models.... Just my 2 cents ......
  2. I used to go to my LHS and order all the new SLixx decals for the mass of "future projects" that I have in mind, on the bench, etc....So i was in yesterday afternoon and he infomred me that it is getting very diffuicult to order them now. He told me his largest supplier shows them as being discontinued....This really sucks, b/c I like to support my LHS as much as I can..... So my question is, does anyone know of an on-line source for Slixx that takes PayPal? Thanks
  3. I was in search of a kit, and not only did Brian offer it up, he asked for nothing in return, a true gentlemen... And in light of his generosity, have passed some of my own on. Someone on another board was looking for something and I sent it for nothing in exchange... Thanks Brian, makes a guy feel good....

  6. This whole weathering thing is new to me, but I figured I'd give it a shot.... I am really enjoying this build, nice way to break outta the building blues... Hope to have it done this weekend.... As always, questions, comments and critiques are welcome....
  7. Gramps, All this fuss over a hood that PSF has had for sale for the past couple years, I know b/c I have a couple....LOL. Keep twisting those panties.....
  8. I am in 100%, tis should be a good time....My only thoughts are 1) Start with a new kit, I like the kit you chose, maybe a new one? 2) If enough people are in, maybe do more than one? 3) If there are more than one group, do we use the same kit or different ones? Let me know, all over it....
  9. I am with Brian, I kinda like it......
  10. DOH, not sure how this happened, but I only need on grill......LOL
  11. I am not sure what kit if any this came in, but I can use one, as I want to buld the Old Reliable 68 Camaro S/S. I have about 905 of what I need for the build, minus the grill, any leads would be appreciated... Thanks.

  14. Been a while since I posted or worked on anything, but it finally seems like life is easing up a little, so I will get back to work sooner than later....Lemme see, my Z06 Drifter, Bullitt Mustang, 49 Merc....I could go on and on... But like a typically modeler, I am going to start a new project to bring some fresh life to the bench. I grabbed one of the Flintstone 41 Chevy P/U "Rat Rods", and here is where my question lies.....What do I use as a chassis??? I thought about using a stock 41 chassis, and modifying it, thought about using a 32 Ford Chassis, thought about maybe scratching something up, which I would rather not do.....So, here I come to you old great board, whcih route do I take..... Any and all suggestion are appreciated, pictures are a plus, thanks, and it is good to be back, or at least think I am back....LOL
  15. Al, Nice to see you here...... Guys, I have gotten stuff from Al in the past, not only does he do what he says, his stuff is Dynomite......I just placed another order fomr some of his soft rubber tires, when I get 'em, I will take some pics and share.... IMHO, Al is the real deal, plus he is easy......just ask!!!!
  16. Vince, The questions you ask are not as easy as you'd think...But I will give you some general info to get you off and running....First, typically a sprayed finish, either by spray can or air brush, would provide a nicer finish than if you decided to brush paint. But don't let that discourage you in your building quest. As far as types of paints, for plastic models, Tamiya and Testors Laquers can provide a very nice finish with out too much fuss... Keep trying at it, and keep asking questions....There are lots of other guys here that still "school" me on a regular basis.... Post some pics if ya can.... Good Luck,
  17. Bob, Thanks again, as always, for the sound advice....I sometimes get ahead of myself when doing things and dont think them out clearly...After this "reality check" I can remember shooting some Tamiya and Testors paints over bare plastic and being quite happy....I will prep my new body by removing mold lines and cleaning the seams and shooting the Tamiya on the bare plastic...And as for the paint stripping, I am with you 100% that is a last resort for lots of reasons. I will post some progress once we dry out enough for me to paint again... Tks again
  18. I hope someone can shed some light for me.... Tonite I picked up my second AMT Challenger, why you ask, not beacuse I am following through with my idea for several R/T's in some traditional colors, but becuase I have an etching problem... I posted a few days ago asking if anyone had some issues with crazing on the new kit, and I was the only one with the issue, so i chaled it up to expirence and began again. I wet sanded the body, got another brand of paint and went at it again, this time, there was no sign of crazing till I added the clear, makes sense to me, as the clear brings out all the flaws.. here is what I did, Duplicolor grey sealing primer, dried for a couple days then wet sanded. After the wet sanding, washed it in warm water with no soap, just to remove the sanding film. Shot some Tamiya paint and BAM crazed the body...So with that said, I waited a couple days and reshot the body this time with Plastickote T235 (my norm BTW). Wet sanded it nice and smooth, then shot some Testors Auto Lacquer and I seemed to have a nice finish, a little matt when dry, but nice looking. Fast forward a couple days, and I took the hood, brushed on some Future, next when dried, BAM those crazing marks were back... What I'd like to know is what primer and paints you have used with out trouble. I have seena bunch of suit builds so I am sure someone can shed some light on this for me... As always, thanks in advance for any and all info!!!
  19. Nice build......This is the type of tuner I can dig.....Awesome.....
  20. Lookin fine to me.... I love those AMT "S" truck kits, I have about 8 or 10 of them, with plans for them all.... Keep us posted....

  23. Hey Albert....here is how I did mine...not a Bullitt, but an 06, I'd have to guess they are similar... I used Google for picture reference....
  24. I built one a few years back, and I thought it came out quite well...It has been gone for a long time as it bacame a gift to a friend of mine....I have another I picked up recently, that I will probably build sometime soon, only change I will make this time is the wheels, I think it would look better with BBS Wheels...
