  1. I think that and Luxo (PPG's Name for LeMans Blue, IIRC) are the same....Hence the 19U
  2. Len, If memory serves me correctly it is called 19U Luxo Blue. I even have some of it in a spray can I special ordered from a dealer.
  3. Jon, that is one of my favortie things....I always "loose" stuff then when I am not looking for it find it, it is like buying it all over again....Just think you get the expirence all over again...LOL....
  4. Joe....Not so sure it had anything to do with the mix, as the parts dried hard as a rock. I even asked my dealer, and he told me the same thing, smaller batches sometimes dry with the stripes, and suggested heat. That was when I went back to Smooth On....No heat, no fuss, no muss...
  5. Mike, I have only made parts for my own use and some for friends or modelers in need.....As for the OOMOO, it makes a very nice, soft, flexible easy to use mold, like I said for an amateur who makes some stuff for himself, it was a great expirence. Not too mention the guys over there are great to deal with, when a technical question comes into play..
  6. Well, you know what they say about opinions right...LOL... Well here is mine, I have used both the Alumalite and Smooth On products, and hands down on the resin end of things, I like the Smooth On (used Smooth Cast 300, cures a bit on the wuick side, but I like that as I can get a lot done in a little time) the best, I have cast carbs, blowers, intakes, and some other small items with no issues, and a very good rate of usable parts. As for the Alumalite, not so much, at first I had some issues with bubbles, and kinda worked that out but then, the stuff would cure with "zebra stripes" and I didnt like that, hard, but strange colors. As for rubber, I have used both and depending on the job both are fine. I will say that the OOMOO Rubber from Smooth On is more flexible than what I used from Alumalite. Also, I can get the Smooth On at my local Pearl and the Alumalite, not so easy to get.... If you have more specific questions please ask, and I will answer as best I can.
  7. I want to add some more detail to my Draggen Wagen I posted the other day, and want to simulate some rubber that would gather on a quater panel after a burn out and wondered if anyone has a method of doing so they could share? Thanks!!!
  8. Curt... Flippin Amazing....What a great clean build of great ride...
  9. I started building this in between the other stuff I have going on. I took a break from the two other drag cars I am working on because they are close to needing clear and it has been way to humid for me to even think about clearing them. I also needed to regroup as my suspesnion idea for the Snowball Redux, needed some tuning, so.... The idea was two fold, one was to build a drag car as a kid in the late 60's might have, but as time went on, I morphed into a project for me to test a couple different "finishing methods" I wanted to use on some up comming build ideas.... I am actually a lot further along then this, but wanted to post some in progress pics.... As always, questions, comments and critiques welcome....
  10. Brian....Love the build, great color.... Can I ask, what did you use for that floor????
  11. I have been wanting to do this myself for a while, and yours puts me over the edge... I love it, great job......
  12. John, I would have to dig my kit out again, but IIRC, I fabb'ed some aluminum pipes for exhaust off the headders. Made them look like dump pipes. I just left the "stock" exhaust alone. You can also get some really nice flatty headders from Relicas and Miniatures of Maryland, I have used them on other projects before... Enjoy and post some shots of that build... Now where did I put that darned Ford....LOL....
  13. $15, sounds nice, I have a couple rides just waiting to be tubbed... Who said Pro Street was dead....
  14. Well, I picked up my Munsters tin yesterday at my LHS and was quite happy with what I found inside. The little "signs" and the book, are great additions and the book has some great detail shots that will help with detailing greatly... However, I am wondering, what color(s) should be used to recreate that finish on Drag-u-la??? What are your thoughts? How are you going to paint(?) your Drag-u-la? Any and all input is appreciated!!!!
  15. Curt, Loving this build. This is something I have wanted to do also, build a detailed replica of a "1:1", but have not found one I wanted to put the effort into, you my firend have made a GREAT choice. I would check with Norm again, as I think he also does a quick change rear end, I think I may even ahve one or two at home.
  16. Is has landed and work has begun...... Will post some work pics soon....I am focusing my efforts in the dirvetrain / suspension area of the build... darned voices in my head.......
  17. Fella's....If you are even considering ordering these turbos, DO IT.... They are AWESOME, in no uncertain terms, nice clean white resin, ready to build some boost... Mike, thanks for doing EXACTLY what you said, it is quite nice to have another caster who does just what he says he will.. Oh yea, and get craking on those drag radials, my Monte can use some.....
  18. Terry.....well put, and understood... I too am not the worlds greatest builder, but have worked to where I am by asking for and accepting critiques. I normally add to the bottom of my build / builts a line like.... Questions, comments and critiques always welcome.. Mostimes guys are helpful to me when I do that... But if I dont see someone be open to it, I shut my trap to...
  19. Looks like you are off to a great start...I cannot wait to see it done...
  20. Hope t have some pics to show in the next day or so....
  21. Guys...I am preparing the parts to build a 1986-7 Monte Carlo SS Drag car. It is going to be factory stock, with factory block, auto trans, maybe some gears. I am not going all out on this one, I am using my memories of a car that ran at E-Town when I was a youngin... What I'd like to know is what class designation should be on the window? Thanks in advace for any input!!!! ps: Still working the "Extreme-National" Project too...
  22. Thanks for the kind words guys....I have been a closet drag builder for some time, but as I have gottne older, I have begun to narrow my collection to include mostly drag related subjects....
  23. Guys, Just a qucik shot from the bench...I am building up the Model King Camaro F/C issue, into a Kelly Chadwick car...It will be a very loose representation of the real thing, as I am not sure this car is accurate to any 1:1, but it was sitting there and I felt like starting something new. Shot with Testors Silver, and Tamiya Clear Red, will use a different base coat for candy apple red next time. Quick chassis shot, nothing more than box stock and some detial painting... As usual, questions, comments and critiques always welcome....
