  1. I started wokring on one of these last week, picked up a wing from the LHS, planning on ordering some slick Audi wheels from Strada Sports. Thinking about a Graphite dust finish, with gunmetal or black side panels...... Here is my issue though, I read the review of the kit in the other mag, and it didn't get a very good one, and I;d like to know if anyone has had a good expirence building this kit.....If it really is as tough as he said during finaly assembly, I will keep my extra level of detail to a minimum, and spend the extra time gettting it to fit correctly... Any and all input is appreciated....
  2. "Anal Accuracy", I love it....that isnt my bag either..... Nice build, imagineering at it finest..... I have had one of those on the "mental sketch pad for quite sometime now, need to get cracking....LOL... Nice work and welcome.....
  3. Been a while since I have posted anything on my bench progress, so I took a few quick shots this am and figured I could share with you all. Being home sick really is a good thing sometimes.... First up, I shot some paint on my B/M 70 Chevelle, I am also working on masters for a set of 1/24 scale BM valve covers for this kit. Just waiting on my order from the resin guys to begin work on them.... This is the interior for my Revell Concept Camaro, I built an AMT version and decided I wanted another so I picked Revell's version. Body will be Huggar Orange with some "ghost graphics" under orange pearl clear. The orange pearl clear is a custom blend of Tamiya clear orange and some pearl I snagged of the bay.... Quick peak at my "Pink Caddy" project, just a base coat of Pactra Pink prior to the new Testors One Coat Pink... I finally started a Revell 49 Merc, not sure what I was waiting for but I finally took one from stock and began building...Got the chassis assembled entirely, and will detail paint the exhaust, shcoks and other items with some brush paint. Normally I would not do this, but I wanted to get this done reasonably quickly and plan on it being a "shelfer" anyway... Little gold on the engine, this bad boy will be called "Root Beer Float", going to be shot in Testors new Root Beer and have gold accents with a pearl white interior. Interior has been started, and so have some slight mods to the dash board... Just a quick shot of the painted chassis hanging in my "paint booth".... Last but not least, some time ago I posted some pics from the Nostalgia Drags at Englishtown, and mentioned a T-Bird I was nuts for.... So I decided to build my verision if it.....HEMI and all.... Here is where I am at so far....this is a simple mock-up, still need to detail and paint the dash board. The body is painted with Testors Artesian Turquoise Metallic, really nice color with Testors new one shot clear. This is how the body looks with only on coat of clear and no sanding or polishing, I love this stuff. As always, thanks for looking and questions, comments and critiques are alwasy welcome....
  4. Awesome color, may have some pics at home, will check tonite....Painted an Acura with it.....
  5. If you loose the auction, drop me a line, I should have an extra.....
  6. Seems lately I have been doing more surfing than working, but I have been doing much more work than posting, so here is an update on my SS396 build...... Just a qucik shot of the installed motor and trans combo, I wanted to build an automatic, but decided that was too much work...LOL I also did some weathering to the chassis and engine compartment, not sure but I think I may have gone slightly too far on the top side of the engine, but I think it looks fine, just not show car fine Went with the standard black on the interior, used all the SS goodies too... I am really liking this kit, it almost just falls together, adding the BB was a bit more work than IO had assumed, due to hood clearance issues that arose for me, but once I get them worked out, it was a quick mover again..... Last but not least we went with Burgandy Poly (read: Tamiya Maroon, as it seems to be a close match). I am at the poing now of deciding if I will finish it as is, or remove the body markings and use the sheet of Keith Marks decals I have from the old AMT Nova, which to my eye seem to be fine..... As always, questions, comments or critiques always welcome....
  7. First one in 20 years huh? OK, sure it is.....LOL....nice job, let us see some more!!!!
  8. Ryan, Good stuff, can you send me the PDF please??? guysrodz@yahoo.com Tks,
  9. Hey Tony, First welcome to the best modeling board on the net, bar none......Anywho, those builds are killer, I have been doing this a long time and still haven't tried a two tone exterior so, kudos to you.... Remember, guy, practice makes perfect, so now get craking on 3 and 4..... If you have any questions ask, someone here will surely be able to anser them....
  10. That is funny Bob, I remember it well....
  11. Now, now Mr. Lammers..........(am I correct Bob?).....
  12. Lobbs, Looking fine, I am planning a drag verion of the Nova with an LS-X for power, so seeing what you've done here is a big help. Keep pluggin away, and keep us posted..... And welcome back!!!!!!
  13. Sweet.....Now that I know where the roof comes from, maybe someday I will get up the nuts toi build my first car....I had a 77 Cutlass Supreme, lot different that the 75 though, but seeing this gets me a step closer at least.... Nice job....
  14. How else do you think he made that "Slopar" go so fast.......
  15. Not trying to stir the pot, but according to my LHS Revell dropped the standard C6 kit. I had asekd him to order me two more and this was the info I was provided....How cool would it be if that is in fact what they are up to, a new ZR-1???? Because like you Ismael, I cannot afford a new 1:1 either.....
  16. Right now, I am working on 2 different 69 Nova's, a 40 Ford Street Rod, and my 10th Ave Performance Dyno Room Diorama....
  17. Mike, I love it.....I have a question if I may.....What did you use as a base under the sand? Did you mix something in the sand? I have tossed a simial idea around and could not decide how to handle the sand, weather I should use some medium and allow the sand to be glued to it, or to mix the sand with some medium, sculpt and allow to dry,.... Any info would be appreciated.....
  18. Is Replicas and Minatures at all the meetings?????
  19. Ed, My 53 Ford Kustom will have a flattie in it along with my 40. Soon as either are done and the dyno is too, we will make a pass with a flattie!!!! Tks,
  20. Mike, Took some of your ideas, I ordered some cinder block walls from my LHS and will have one block wall and one finished wall to look like a seperation wall in the room. I already got the dims for a chassis dyno off the web, and just need to make sure the "drum" is sized to be able to dyno anything I may want to put in there.... Hopefully, I will get some work done this weekend, as I am alomst at the bottom of my "honey dew" list....LOL
  21. Well, first and foremeost, I want to say thanks to all the guys who responded to my initial post about wanting to build a diorama. All that info has been quite helpful and allowed me to plan out my build. With all this info compiled, I have decided to start a little smaller than I had originally planned. I am going to build a dyno room diorama as a "practice" piece to see if I can pull this off. I already printed out the data sheets for the dyno I want use in the shop, and have begun my layout on paper... Soon as I have something to show, I will take some pictures to share with the group.....
  22. Dave, What's the issue with the gas tank?
  23. Anyone know a good (read: cheap) source for Smooth On Resin products on line? taking PayPal is a plus.... Ran out of supplies and have some new parts to cast and need some more supplies... Tks,,,,
  24. Awesome.....picked one up last night and went back for two more today after diggin through the kit. I have noticed that some other board's members have tried to put the kit ina a bad "spotlight" I say get over it and go build something....Anywho,o who is going to cast some hoods? I tried the hoods I have for the AMT Nova and they come up short, I may adjust one just to get a build under my belt, but an nicely fitting hood would be cool... So who's in to make that Stinger Hood for the 69 Harrell Nova's?
  25. Lyle, thanks, I think between the info from you and Dave, my proble is solved, I will break out thr engine from the 50 Ford and see what I find. I will also be sure to share all my findings with you all since you've all been so helpful....
