  1. Check eBay Seller Grumpydenise.....It is Matt Conte formerly of Lookout Models fame, and he did one, I used it on my Heavy Chevy build.
  2. Ah Ha....knew I wasn't nuts....that is the guy, yea I'd love one of five....LOL.... You have a PM too.....
  3. Here are some buld pics of my entry.....put them in OTB, then realized we were trying to keep them all together, so here goes it..... 2004 Corvette Z06 Drifter..... Scratched up a "half cage", and robbed a seat from an old Silvia kit I had laying around for way. I am trying to keep this build on the simple side, but ruined that idea yesterday.... Here I cut out the front plate holder, to expose the "cold air intake" that I am working on. It will consist of two conical air filters that I have cast up, split and joined in the middle to make a larger unit Here is a side shot with the wing from a Polar Lights GTO kit, finding this out after purchasing an MCG resin and photo etched tuner style wing. So here is where we are at, as always, questions, comments and critiques welcome....
  4. Well, it has been quite some time since I have posted an work from the bench, and longer for anything to have been finished. So today, I finally shot some new updated pics of my current projects and figured I'd share them all in on post so here goes.... First up is my "Cyber Grey" 2009 Corvette Z06 Kinda hard to tell in the pic, but ifya ask me, it is close enough for a Swiss Naval project....LOL really liking the way this one is looking....BTW, didnt someone make a dry sump oil resivor for this guy???? Now on to my drift build, I decided that the build off needed more "American Muscle", so I am building an 04 Z06... Originally, I was going to do this as a curbside, but we al know how these things change..So I whipped up a single hoop roll bar, and robbed a seat from a Silvia kit I have had way too long...So far, everything fits ok....I think....LOL Here you can see where I removed the "Corvette" license plate holder spot to make room to see the "Ram Air" set up I am working on. took two resin filters that I cast and molded them together to make one wide on to fill the void so to speak.. So back to the whole curbside build issue, I picked up a resin and PE tuner wing (along with some Dzus fasteners, a couple billet mufflers, and some Eduard PE seat belts so much for a quick crubside build huh) from MCG that I was going to use on this bad boy. Once I tried it on, I realized I didn't like it and used the wing from the Polar Lights GTO Drift Car. I think this one rocks... Next up is my Don Schumacher "Aero" Vega build...this one has been in the "staging lanes for way too long, and the other night I grabbed it and started working on it again. Had to open the roof hole for the "clear window", also had to modify the nose piece by removing the bumper to have an accurate body. SOme day this guy will get finished.....I hope....LOL... Finally on to the Mustang I am building, this is the first "real" commissioned build I have taken on, I have done a couple in the past but for little money and they were quickies. We agreed on a good price for me so I have taken the time and paitence required to build a stand out model.... The engine.... The deal was out of box, with minimum amount of added detail items. SO lots of shades of paint ahd washes have been used to this point... Here are some shots of the chassis, I used Google and Tim Boyds article in that other ragas a reference for paint and wash colors. At this point I am quoite happy with this build, I can only hope the new owner is as happy as I am... Well folks that is it for this edition of "Whats on the bench at Guy's Hot Rod Shop" As always, questions, comments and even critiques are alwasy welcome here.....
  5. I came up with an idea for my drift build that would require a "CF" hood, that had some paint and some raw "CF". So I'd like to know if anyone has had success, applying a decal to a hood, then masking off a section of decal and painting over part of it. I am not so sure how this will work, but cannot think of another way to acheive the look I am after.... Any and all advice is appreciated.... Tks,
  6. Just a quick update till I can get some pics taken, whcih should be tonite, I hope....LOL.... Got the roll cage made, started some mild body mods and think I may even have decided on a paint job and sponsor for this bad boy. I made up a couple plates for it too, nit sure which one I will use yet..... or if I stay "home"....
  7. Man..... Ipod, yes....I so have some old KISS 8-tracks laying around too...LOL... Springsteen, KISS, Tesla, Van Zandt, Ice-T(before he was an actor), Zepplin, Johnny Cash....I could go on for days.... Thank GOD for the shuffle function on my iPod.....
  8. Yes, I saw that, and that is one if my issues, I don't want to have to worry about warming molds to get stuff to cure. According to some of the other responses above other guys have had similar results, and there have been no issues, the parts a re rock hard, just an off color....Sounds like next time, I will either go back to Smooth On or try the white Alumalite.
  9. Guys, I have decided that I want in.....Too many imports on that list, we need more American Iron. So please add me and my 2004 Corvette ZO6 to the list of potential applicants.... I will post some in progress pics soon as I can.... Until then, Drift Away!!!!!
  10. Wayne, Thanks for your input, I am in the same boat, the Alumilite is much easier for me to obtain that the Smooth On. Also, I am not saying it is bad, just different than what I am used to. Maybe I will try mixing larger batches and seeing what happens. It sounds as if my mix is off a bit and that is the reason for the "off" color in my finished parts..... Well, back to the mixing bowls....
  11. Well, I am quite happy to hear I am not the only one with those issues.... It seems to be, as the parts are quite hard, just a strange shade of bronze sorta, maybe even a little transparent...strange....
  12. I finally got around to picking up some more resin so I can continue to cast the small parts I have been doing for myself and some for others. Anyway, last go around I used Smooth On, and it was great, big batch, small batch didn't matter everything cured just fine into a nice white resin part...No issues...I was having a hard time finding a source for it locally so I picked up some Alumilite, and have found a couple things that make me go hmmm, and wanted to run them by you guys, hoping someone would have a little input.... Here is how it went.... The first batch of parts I did came out nice, smooth, clean in the "tan" resin color, one air bubble, but that is b/c I wasn't careful pouring. Now, I poured these parts, as the mixing cup was getting warm from the reaction of the resin, and I am not sure if this helped or not. Next time around I mixed up the same volume of resin stirred it well and poured prior to the heat coming on. This round of parts took longer to cure, and never quite go to that same, glossy tan color the first batch had. They have cured, and are quite hard, and I even painted on up so I can show someone what the parts look like finished. Several more "batches" and the results are all similar to the secon scenario above. Now here is the part that gets me, the part of the batch not used cured fine in the cup, just like the first set of parts, clean, glossy, "tan" resin. So I reread the manual and it mentions a couple things, heating the molds in a microwave (aint happeing in my house) and mixing small batches casuing issues. So I made some adjustments and had the same issues... I really dont want to start heating molds and all that jazz....so, can anyone shed some light for me on these issues?? Am I using the wrong stuff? Thanks in advance
  13. Kevin, Would a car from "Monster Garage" qualify for your famous car build off? I few years back I built a 1/25 scale version of project Freezer Burn, for an NNL East class..... Wadda ya think?
  14. This is a qucik build I did for my son for his first birthday, it sits on his shelf in his room.... I think, overall, it came out quite well... Tamiya Mica Red out of the can, shot right over the red plastic, no primer needed here.... Added a set of wheels from a parted out Z06, for a little bit of flash.... Even paint detailed the underside a bit.... Over all, a quick project that I am quite happy with.... As always, questions, comments and critiques welcome...
  15. Dave, How about a breif how to, I'd love to chop a 40 like that.... Thanks...
  16. Greg, Great meeting you too guy!!!! Hope the retunr trip was a comfy one.....

  20. Kevin, I am curious, have you ever driven anything with 700HP or more? Even 500 or so? It isn't like riding a moped, some expirence is needed in order to pilot such a beast....Like I said, no BS, jujst curious. I owned an 88 IROC, with a BBC making about 550HP or so, and for the street, it was plenty.... Dunno, maybe I am nuts, anyone else?
  21. I will be in Saturday for shore, only about 1hr for me.....thinking about the Friday Night CheeseBurger "jaunt".....Not sure yet.....
