  1. Wow, Doc...that really is something! Can't wait to see the paint fly on this one! I'm stayin' tuned in!
  2. Davin, You have a nice build going there. I haven't tried any PE yet, so good for you!! Looking forward to seeing more of your build as it moves along.
  3. Wow, nice work!
  4. Great looking build!
  5. Renting sucks, and sure limits your ability to mount something on the wall! The first set up you show, it looks like two display cases would stack in each square and fit which would save dusting, or as was mentioned, a display case with another model on top. The style of the furniture doesn't lead to easy fitting of other shelves since they stick out beyond the uprights. The second book case would be easy to add more shelves with the shelf holes in the sides. Without replacing the whole unit with something with more shelves, there isn't a really easy or really cheap solution it would seem. Good luck with finding a solution! I hope you do find something easy and cheaply to get more display space.
  6. Hey, Tony, thanks...Yes, molded in red plastic - this was the '85 SVO that was originally released back in '84...the recent re-release is the same but in white plastic, and has nice decals for emblems, and gauges. A friend gave me his set, as he is going to build a race car or custom with his(I told him he should get on here-he isn't very computer savvy, so we'll see if I can convince him!), so I sanded off the molded-in emblems and plan to use the decals.
  7. Traded this AMT Galaxie a while ago - missing bumpers and windshield, which I robbed from the recent 61 Styline kit. Cut the passenger seatback out, made a rollcage from sprue, tires from the spares box, wheels from a Thunderbolt, made a cover from sheet plastic, exhaust tips from plastic tube and a shot of primer to show that the body needs a few sink marks filled before moving to paint. This is a tribute build for Luke 57, Jerry Sims who passed in Nov '10. A friend I never met. My plan is to hand-paint the main graphics and numbers, and add a few contingencies. Not sure if there will be a main sponsor, and will add "Old Redneck Race Cars" to the front fenders. Comments are welcome. Build album is here.
  8. I finally remembered to take the camera down to take a few pics...then kept forgetting to bring it back up to post them!! Here's the first few bits of work on the body - opened the hood scoop, filled and filed the rear spoiler, the emblems and I think I got the mould seams. Let me know what you think, and if there's something you see that I didn't!
  9. Gregg, Nice build!! Stance, colours, wheels, engine...Nice!
  10. I was going to post the link to my build, but Mike beat me to it! (Thanks Mike!) Important to pay attention to modelling basics on any build. Test fit parts before paint and after. Sand the mould seams, fill any small imperfections, smooth it all out before primer and paint. If you stretch too far beyond your abilities, you could get frustrated with the build and stall on it. Have a plan for the build, cover the basics, don't rush it, and most of all, have fun. I had a blast building mine. It's a nice kit and there are very few issues to overcome to make a nice shelf model.
  11. Wow...fantastic build! Again! Maybe I'll take my wife up on the offer to teach me to knit...or weave...
