  1. Neat...I'll have to take a closer look at the 1910 or 1911 Buick I have in my stash... Would really look great with the driver and mechanic!
  2. Very nice, Jim! Looks like something you'd have seen cruising around in the 70s...love it!
  3. Very well done!! I'm very impressed with your work on this...very cool and unusual subject!
  4. Nice!!
  5. Man, I'm having trouble finding the time to build one out of the box, and John is onto another build!! You are a machine, John!! Well done so far. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
  6. Nice so far! Can't go wrong with yellow and black!
  7. Looks good...love the TR4A. I had that same 1/32 scale kit many moons ago. As I recall it was a pretty good kit for the size and the time.
  8. Nice work on that! The yellow bumper posts are a nice touch, too. I've seen places that have them on the inside as well!! Part of what I love about a diorama. It isn't really ever done. I'm always looking for stuff for mine. Mostly stuff for outside, but have a few things for inside. Fun stuff for a change of pace!
  9. BRAVO!! You sure did it justice, Allen! I will be referring to this for my build especially for the interior.
  10. #11 Exacto is the #1 tool of choice. I use a second with a dull blade to apply putty.
  11. Sad about the rail layout. Good advice to pre-plan for removal at a later date. Your Backyard Flyer is looking great...I love the layers of detail you have incorporated, including the leaves. Wonderful!
  12. Allen - Thanks for taking us through this build...it will sure help me when I get started on mine.
  13. Thanks, and Happy Canada Day to the rest of us up here...and Happy 4th for you south of here for Monday! Hey, we both get a long weekend!!
  14. Thanks for the tip, Jacen.
  15. I thank you for pointing out the issues and tips for building this kit. I looked at my kit, and it appears the red stripe is missing from the left door...just the door, from the door seem forward, and just the left door. Weird. I'll have to practice masking and painting I guess!!
  16. Haven't had time on the bench lately...I did find time to get another coat of semi-gloss black Krylon to lay down after a quick sanding of a few mild crazing areas. Even with Krylon primer, the semi-gloss black you really need to go light for the first few coats to sneak up on it, or it will craze like crazy!! I think a medium grey for the interior, a bit darker than primer...will see what I have that is relatively flat paint. I found a few decent reference interior pictures of the SVO stock, but may take a little creative licence, like I did with the semi-gloss paint on the body and the dark grey wheels (they are currently flat black, but gunmetal will be brushed on soon). Cheers!
  17. Great paint on a slick body!
  18. Looks good, John. The paint and decals look good, very clean build all around. NASCAR Resto-Mod? I like it!
  19. On the topic of the 2012 VW Beetle...I like it, as it speaks to my "inner hippie". I have 2 Fords in the driveway ('00 Taurus wagon, '07 Focus), and am restoring a '67 Beetle. I really do like the next version of the Beetle (VW has dropped the "New" from the name, and did introduce it in April as the 21st Century Beetle, as was mentioned)). It will likely be one of the most customize-able cars available, as in there will be many accessories available from VW, plus an aftermarket following. The RS was the first pre-production car to be fitted with swapped parts, as was said, isn't certified for road use (no air bags, etc etc). Many of the Golf and GTI performance parts are bolt-ons. From what I have read, there is to be 3 engines available...2.5l 5 cyl, 2.0l turbo, and the TDI clean diesel. Price starts at US$18,995 (no Canadian pricing as of yet). Here's a configurator from the VW Germany website. Shows the wheels and colours available. They will likely be different for North America. I will seriously consider this car when they become available. Toffee Brown, 'Circle' wheels (the most retro!), and the TDI, with a manual. Yes, I would have bought a new type 1 when they were being built and I would like to see a VW Beetle as a reliable entry-level car that is entry-level priced as well. Not much of a market for that in North America, so here we are. Personally, I hope they sell a whole bunch of them!
  20. Looks good so far. Glad the alignment issue resolved itself!
  21. I have a question and suggestion about the chassis alignment issue. Is it the whole driver's side that is off, or just at the rear? Is the chassis warped? In the rear shot (3rd photo) of the last update, it seems like the interior tub may be a little cock-eyed also. Maybe the tub isn't sitting into the body completely, and then the chassis isn't seating on the interior properly adding to the issue. I couldn't tell if you also had the windows in place in the mock-up. That could cause some fitment issue as well. Maybe a bit of material removal along the mating surface between the outer edge of the interior tub and the body, and where the tub meets the chassis will help the alignment. I know I've had to do that on more than one build over the years. I hope this helps. Personally, I love the Boss 429, and look forward to your progress. I have the older release of this kit, plus the Boss 302, and Mach 1 in my stash, so will be interested to see the alignment solution.
  22. Tony - the boys have done some great work! Brad-I had some issues getting the nose on my original red plastic SVO - I did test fit the headlights, and hood while I did...it's glued well with Tenax! Now in paint, too...will need to take some pictures and post them...
