What Did You Get Today? (Not Model Related)
FoMoCo66 replied to LOBBS's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Ive never really gotten into video games even though every kid I know at school is. I think its because I get no sence of accomplishment unlike what happens when I built a model car. -
What did you see on the road today?

That is awesome, gives me some ideas for the old monogram 31 coupe 🤔. Oh and those rear wheels fill those wheel wells perfectly! -
Alright guys, I got some good bench tlme in this week and managed to scratch build a floor. Made a template out of card stock until it fit then I traced that out onto evergreen sheet and cut it out. then I glued that all together and added some custom bead rolling designs with half round severgreen.

That's a really cool build, reminds me of a TROG style build.
-
I actually like the gutted look a lot. It would be cool if you got a 3d printed tranny with the clutch detail and set that in and also hung some loose rad hoses to show a truck that had the engine blown at the track and its getting rebuilt.
-
Yup, thats a cool body and looks to be nice quality. The supports are there to help it stay in place while it essentially grows off of the build plate.

My thing now that I have access to a nice and reliable printer is that any time I see something cool that I want. I wanted a cleaning pot for the ole airbrush so I looked online for a file, and sure enough I found one. The unfortunate thing about it is that the threads are not a standard size so I will not be able to use it on a mason jar.

It seams like round 2 has been doing this on a couple of there models. I know they did it on there coke charger snap kit. The only good thing about those is the were deep dish and I can use them as rear wheels and look right at home in pie crust and wrinkle wall slicks.

Ooh, the pain im feeling from just looking at that. My daily driver has less miles than that on it. I guess its good that the bushings will get replaced though. -

Ollie's strike again
FoMoCo66 replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nope its actually an old AMT (truly a MPC kit. The original edition was in 1964 with the tudor sedan, the body was emedietly replaced with the woody and truck in the next release. Its not a bad kit, but just be warned, the frame is one with the fenders, but thats not a big set back at all. I was at my LHS recently and they had this kit for $40 (I dont buy kits from them because there so darn expensive). Heres a rebuilder I scored of the original issue of this kit with the sedan body (I dont think the Halibrand wheels are in it anymore though). -
Man this is driving me MAD, I high definition!

Very cool layed back look there, it fits perfectly! At this point you might not be dealing with squirrels anymore, at this point there rabbits because of how fast you jump from project to project 🤣. I think im the opposite of you though, I can barely start a project without finishing another. There is a downside to that though, sometimes there's a waiting period while im waiting for stuff to cure like paint.

What non-auto model did you get today?
FoMoCo66 replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Yeah, my local club did this for there wild mushroom concept layout that they are building, it essentially doubles your track in the same space. The cardboard model really helped visitors visualize what the end goal was going to be like. -

Oh, sorry about that 🤣, I can see how that would read that way. I appreciate that you went out of your way to explain that, hopefully someone who glances upon that will get use out of it. I was originally just throwing it out in the air of a quick blurb of my "master plan" in my head. -

Oh im not new to model railroading, I was a part of a local model railroad club and have lots of friends there. I have reserched the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of this and have drawn and redrawn plans, nothing im happy with. I also cant really afford building a layout right now. My main reason for this would be for a programing track and running space for models when im not at the club. The reason I haven't built it yet is because im on a really big model car kick and the trains are in the closet in a box. -

I really want to build a shelf layout. Burlington Northern merger erra (70-75) somewhere in rural Iowa focused around a grain elevator. I have all the motive power (modified and detailed 90s athearn blue box) and handful of relevant rolling stock that I tuned up and weathered last winter (thats where I disappeared to and what caused my absence on here). IMHO its way cheaper than a full layout, way more space efficient, and the details can be focused on a hell of a lot more. Ive also seen guys make a game out of it by shuffling up their way bills for cars to go is different places. -
So ive been doing a lot of online searching for images of this car and its engine. And as with many vintage drag cars there not well documented and they get canablized or modified for the next car so its not like there still around. I did find some nice photos of the car, obviously they are from different time periods, some have port injection and some dont. The kit has a fuel block for the back so I decided to add it. I also found that the box art for the mpc don garlits engine is a decent reference as well. Besides that I painted the engine orange (why am I telling you guys this, you have eyes), did some aluminum detail painting. And my custom mix of testors paints for the magnesium on the intake and blower. Heres the engine itself. I think some of the silver needs some toutch ups because of pulling it in and out of the frame for moch-up's. Thanks for looking everyone, I am going to buy some Detail Master or Proline braided lines. I cant figure out proline's online ordering and Detail Master has a very user friendly website, I have just heard that Proline is superior. Im also trying to find a good sorce for AN fittings, preferably resin sets. Elliot

Spotify released their end of the year 2025 summary of what you listen to this year. Some people say that I have an old soul when it comes to everything including music (im 16) which is something im really proud of. And I think Spotify thinks that as well.
