I know that it would never have been a good business move on amts part to keep the stock molds. In all honesty im glad they did something to them to keep them around, otherwise they would have just been lost to history.

Thanks man, I definitely know what you mean. A lot of the AMT annuals had this done to them when the tools were butchered, yes butchered not modified.

This is the amt 65 falcon from the cal drag combo kit. I have a love for falcons but do not appreciate what amt did to this kit. The frame is severely undersized, the interior is lacking detail, the front axle is not moved forward, and there is no firewall. I hope to improve most of these issues. The first thing I started with was making the frame bigger, using some plastic sheet on the side for this. I still need to add some on the back. I was also confused why amt thought that the interior tub was acceptable for the fire wall. So I decided to construct one out of evergreen sheet styrene. The front axle was also moved forward and the wheel well enlarged. I think this looks way better and more reasonably proportioned. Here's a scratch built oil pan as well. Thanks Elliot

This is the amt 65 falcon funny car from the cal drag combo. Something I always hated about this kit is how the front axle is in the stock position (maybe a little back as well). So I fixed that as well as lower it. The original chassis plate was severely undersized so I made it actually reached the edges of the body.

Comparison Revell vs. MPC 1967 Corvette
FoMoCo66 replied to iBorg's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I built the current round 2 re-issued version of the mpc. I would not count on parts swaping easily, the mpc kit is designed rather interestingly. It probably could be done and I'm not doubting your skills. -
A neighbor set of a m80 in a watermelon 8 ft away from 15 little kids. They all got splattered and chunks flew for 20 yards. It's a miracle nobody got hurt. I left just before he started setting off the BIG STUFF, don't want to be involved with stuff goes south.

Building the AMT Ford F100
FoMoCo66 replied to OldNYJim's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Wow, nice suspension! That rad might be from the og release of the revell 67 chevelle pro street, it was molded in that color. -
Thank you, that's basically what the whole cars feel was built upon.

What is your favorite sports car?
FoMoCo66 replied to WillyBilly's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's why I said the cobra, I see it more of a sports car, especially the 289 version. -

Got to be the shelby daytona and cobra. Would love to build a factory five replica of either one some day. Also, if I had a boat tone of money (ecen thoigh its more of a super car) I would go for a ferrari f40, specifically the LM. A regular f40 would also do it, wheels are a lot cooler on it. -

Next update! I got quite a few things done this week. Sence this car is a mild custom I had to shave all the emblems, the Belair emblems on the side, the chevy emblems on the hood and trunk, and the top of the hood are now all flat. After shaving everything, I primered the car, sanded again, then put the final layer of primer on. I also got the engine completed, I went with the fuel injection and had to shortened the stacks to fit under the hood. Also got the battery wired up. The firewall had a nasty gap on it so I had to fill that in with 3m spot putty, probably needs another round of filling and sanding. The chassis is also in primer, couple stars from the molded in exhaust but you can barely tell. Also had to add a transmission brace because there oddly wasnt one. Lastly, I put some testors flat steel on the wheels to replicate the magnesium wheels. Thanks for looking! Elliot

Thanks, I usually go to the heartland nationals every year, couldn't go this year because I moved across town.

I just started this car this week after playing around with wheels and tires. The wheels are from revells 64 Thunderbolt and I think they look really tough on this car with the white wall pie crust slicks. Im also going to go with a gold paint job with white accents. Oh and its got to have a tuck n roll interior. My inspiration was this car that I saw at the 2024 goodguys heartland nationals, I really like the attitude and stance of this car. Here's the moch-up of the car, had to hog out the rear slicks to fit the wheels, quick work with a dremmel. This kit also has a molded in exhaust, I forgot to take a before picture. Here's the finished result. Thanks for looking Elliot

Thanks, this helps a LOT!

Yeah I thought that would happen. I really like the way our fellow member SpeedShift did his interior on his 58 chevy.

Yeah I've seen the foam stuff but to me it leaves a little to be desired. That's why I am looking to the half round styrene.
-
Would have been cheaper to make a "No parking any time"

I was wondering what was the best way to do tuck and roll. I've heard evergreen half round works well but what size do I need for the smaller pleats they would use on seats? 1 mm, 2mm, I have no clue? Any advice you may have would be helpful and appreciated. Here's the car im going to do it on. Thanks Elliot
