Old cars brings back old memories
FoMoCo66 replied to Stanward VonDiederichs's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That looks like the early 60s kind where the intake and heads were one piece. This is because this kit is really old tooling. -
YES JUST YES. Getting the chevy guys back for putting LS's in fords. And I like the tunnel ram 429, what kit is it from? Man you just keep speaking my language. I just want to put FORD POWER in everything.
-
This has a nose down attitude? I didn't think so ?. I just think adding rake to these fords is the popular thing to do and had nothing to do with those Y blocks which weight similar to the SBC of that time. And I wouldn't consider this a boat anchor. Boat anchors are what came in full sized 70s american cars. Which usually had big blocks that made the HP of a 60s small block.

The problem is they can just walk into a dealer and pickup the latest greatest mustang and have no prior car knowledge. That's why when you build your car you have a much better understanding of the effort to get that HP and you have more respect for how to handle the car. These guys annoy me sometimes because they dont have as much respect for their cars. That's also why you didn't hear this kind of stuff when kids built there hot rods back in the day, but I get it the hot rod guys also got in trouble sometimes.

I discovered this technique to get a good vinyl look on basically any color intirior on the hpiguys youtube channel (i'm not taking any credit for this). I just thought I would share the technique and results I got from this. I'm using the sox and martin cuda from johan, an old glue bomb I am actively rebuilding on a separate wip. You start off with spraying your whole tub with the color you want, just make sure it's flat. In this case black. Then you get some future floor polish or the Pledge floor care. Take a brush and apply it onto the spots that you want a vinyl look. Do one medium coat and let it dry. This does not need a 2nd or 3rd coat because you want a semi gloss vinyl look. Here's the finished product. If you would like I can get some better photos in the next couple of days. FMC66

My father used vinyl dye paint on the top of his 66 ford falcon to go from white to black. My uncle also actually sprayed his whole intirior with that vinyl stuff to go from green to black on his Buick. I will post my method on a separate post as to not clutter this up and not take the purpose away from this post.

Molotow Liquid Chrome feed problem
FoMoCo66 replied to Oliver77's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
That header looks awesome. One question about gsw, how long until it's good to handle. Molotow took forever to even be able to lightly handle it. That annoyed the BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH out of me. -
I saw this on a trip to South dakota to see Mount Rushmore (and more). This is in deadwood South Dakota, thought it was cool and I dont know the history or anything.

Looks good i like the 70s t feel. I'm thinking on building this kit. How was the fit, were the decals OK, how many extra parts are there, could you move the engine and body forward? Thanks for your response.

Now that's cool. I like the intirior and how the roof just flowwws into the trunk

Molotow Liquid Chrome feed problem
FoMoCo66 replied to Oliver77's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Man I just saw this thread. I almost thought when this happened $10 down the drain. I still haven't gone in and cleaned the thing. But I agree it gave great results on the first couple of days, then... This was what I did with it on the first day it was cracked open. This is the 1/16 amt 57 chevy convertible. The best dash I've ever done with no decals. -
’72 Dodge Demon Drag Racer 1/25 scale
FoMoCo66 replied to AmericanMuscleFan's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Sometimes the little stuff is the most fascinating because of the intricate detail. No matter what updates we get (and I think I'm speaking for everyone) we will be hanging on the edges of our seats. -
Not polished wow mcw paints are worth the hype, I need to get me some.

60 ranchero
FoMoCo66 replied to Brockc's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That's a good idea for a car. Another tv/movie that is kind of weatherd is the two lane blacktop 55 chevy. -
Very slick. I like the 4 slot mags and the red and grey.

? <- is all I can say. -
You could probably turn the tires around on the wheel so you don't see that. Now the wheel, whell I don't know what to do there.
-
A molded in drive shaft but no molded in rear dif, AMT I tell ya ?. Oh and you want a simplistic mopar chassis look at the johan sox and martin cuda. Anyway looks good, like the color.
-
Personally I think the whole car needs to come down just a smidgen. Also I don't know if you care about this but the real car has american racing daisy mags. Don't ask me what kit my wheels are from because they came from the parts box. You could probably find some on eBay or from a resin caster. All constructive criticism aside Looks great. The things got some really mean aditude, I LOVE IT!
-
? <- (face of Jealousy and awe for all your falcons). Dude that's a lot, I wish I had at least one 3rd gen falcon. They all look awesome. That 63 mustang fastback falcon custom is probably my favorite of them all. Also the red 66 reminds me of my dad's car, he had those wheels on it until a couple years ago.
-
I've always wanted to build a falcon specific a 66 to be a replica of my dads first car he still has and drives. But I either can never find one or they are WAY to expensive for me. The worst part is I just watched a guy part out one out on ebay and it was gone before I could make a deal with him. I do have this kit and never have got around to build it. But I've never liked the modified stocker part and it's a shame that amt butchered this kit to make this.

I like it, I like it. The roll pan on the front looks good along with your weathering. I love the american ford falcon(nothing against the Australian or Argentinian falcons though) it doesn't really matter the year (I do have a soft spot for the 66-70s because my dad's first car was a 66 and he still has it and still takes it out).
