Monogram's 1955 Lincoln Futura Concept Car: WIP
LennyB replied to David G.'s topic in WIP: Model Cars
So we’re off the AMT bandwagon and now it’s Monogram ? -
Looking good. Is that actually a data plate embossed on the inner fender?

Thanks Dennis☺️

Jim, I was going to put the wingtip bumper on the back but looking online all the woody's have a plain bumper. Maybe the wingtip would get in the way of the tailgate coming down. ?

The Woody Tidying up a few random bits on the Woody. Found a stock steering wheel so we can get ourselves headed in the right direction. Looking for info online to see the proper color for the wheel didn't yield a lot of results. The general consensus seemed to point to bright white. Didn't really seem correct to me so I went with an off white (it just looks bright in the pic). Appeared the column and shifter should be body color so I gave them a coat and stuck the little bugger in place. Excuse my dust.? Next moved on to revisit an old friend and get the grill sorted out. Wanted to tackle it the same as I did the coupe. You would think that after doing it once the second time would be easier. That was not the case. Stripped the grill, that went fine, and filed out the teeth a bit wider, still fine. Applied the BMF and then a Tamiya Accent wash in black. That didn't look right as the wash washed out in the high spots. Removed the BMF and sent the grill back into the wash. Second attempt, new foil, washed with Testors Flat Black. Left it too long to dry and it wouldn't come off. Not without taking the foil with it. Third try, finally worked and we have what I'm calling a finished grill. Moving to the back I added a rear bumper. Still thinking about putting the spare on the back. Seemed to be more of a Ford thing so it doesn't seem appropriate. But I like the way it looks. WDYT? Don't think I showed this before but I swapped out the wheels and tires. What I had during mock-up were a bit on the small side and looked a bit silly. Went with some larger Firestone's and painted on some wide white walls. Just a few more odds and ends and I think we should be done. See ya....

AMT 1971 Mustang Mach 1 - Diamonds are Forever!

Looking good. And yes I love rubbing out urethane as it is very forgiving as you really have to overwork it to sand thru. -
Would the chauffeur even have a passenger seat? I’ve seen many vintage limo’s without. I guess he needs friends too?

'57 El Nomado

I like the concept Jim. And I have never been a fan of the 57. Like the 55 and 56 much better. Somewhere in my stash I have a kitbash of the monogram 56 hardtop and the 57 nomad. Wanted to build a 56 nomad. Never got too far with is as the two kits leave a lot to be desired and I prefer to stick with 1/25th. So far I like your game plan and thanks for raising the roof, can alway use the extra headroom. Plus the extra space behind the front seats. One of the reasons I sold my Ranchero is the cab was a bit cramped. Hood is a big ?. 57’s could used to loose some chrome weight? -
It doesn’t look that bad, I think you can probably get away with a wet sand and then go for the top coat.

I think our teen builder would have gone down the street to Pepboys and picked up a couple of these. He would have to skip lunch for the day as he blew his budget. Bolt them between the body and the running board?
-
Jim, say it ain't so. Now is not the time to give up, it's the time to push thru.
-
Interesting they put so much thought into the decals.
-
I always preferred these in Yellow or Orange. The blue doesn't look tough enough IMHO.

This is why the dogs lost their dishes. This Galaxie dash used to have a perfectly good steering wheel. ?

Thanks Scott, only took me 49 years?

Thanks a lot Rich, glad you approve.

You are correct sir, aluminum. So that brings us back around to AMT. ? And for the kids out there AMT stands for Aluminum Model Toys?

Welcome back David. Yes, ease yourself back into it. ☺️ -
Thanks Carl. They are real nice but are flat on the backside. So might not fit in all applications.

Drink out of the ?

Thanks. It actually has me itching to build the 48 Ford Woody proper. Already figured out half of it.?

How do you put band-aids on your thumbs if you need thumbs to do that?
