Day 1 ooh, supercars are cool to build totally different breed of cars than old V8-s. Kit itself is also pretty good. Not as good as the Beetle, but still a lot better than those old tool cars. Theres a fair bit of flashing, but nothing major. Details are also very good. I'm a bit hangover from new years eve, but still decided to do some painting. Still waiting for the body paint to arrive - not going to spoil it yet, but it should look really good when its done.

Hi guys! First off - Happy new year! 🙃 So, lets kick this year off with some new model car projects. Wanted to try something different than my regular old american muscle cars (i'm secretly planning to tackle the infamous Pagani Huayra by Aoshima this year). So this is my first build of the year, a real exotic - the Mclaren 570s. One of the best looking cars of this decade IMO. Kit already looks more difficult to build than your regular old kits. So lets see how it goes

So, decided to do the paintjob again. The Tamiya red isnt what i hoped it was. So I stripped the body and redid everything. This time i used a new paint Called AE86 from Number5 paints. Everything else was just like above. After that, it was time for the interior. Was playing around with Mr.Hobby Masking liquid 😁

I think its been around since 2013 or so. So not that new of a kit. Seems like its the Revell's tooling - fitment is alot better than the usual Monogram stuff. Anyway - did some more work: First, some tape work Then some paintwork Then some sanding work .....And priming work And painting again

Hi! Time for another build This time, i wanted to try something different - 1968 Volkswagen Beetle. Kit itself is from Revell. Theres a tamiya version of it too which is actually cheaper, but i'm used to revell's kits so this is what i got. We'll see how it goes

What can i say - i screwed up a bit So first things first - the tamiya transparent paint is definitely more difficult to handle than your average paint, but goddamn it looks cool. The paint itself is definitely softer. So i tried to clearcoat it - like i always do. But the clear went on diferently - a bit like a spongy feeling, idk how to describe it. End result, there was some dust and orange peel etc. So i decided to do some wetsanding: After that, a few more coats of clear We'll see how it turned out once its dry. But definitely isnt my best work so thats that. The hood on the other hand.....Was trying to wetsand it too. But noticed that the front corner had a bit darker shade than the rest of it. So, i left it sitting thinking that i will deal this later...After a day or so i came back to this: The paint has bubbled up and fallen off. So the hood will need to be stripped and repainted. So sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.

Face is starting to look like a car already Also did some work on the interior: The steering wheel. Thinking back, maybe i shouldve added a coat of semi-gloss clear to the wheel. Looks a bit flat. The dash is also done. The decal for the radio doesnt look very good, but not the worst either. Seats are also glued in And then it was time to glue everything together. Pretty neat if you ask me 😁 Also did some wiring to the engine Body needs a bit more work before the final assembly So its getting there

Time for some decal work 🙃 Got the dash started Then off to the body. The lines are a proper pain to install. Did the best i could - didnt turn out perfect, but good enough for me. So i'm happy Pro tip: Roll a couple of socks into a ball and you have a pretty good stand for your body to work on 😁

Hi! I'm not so new here, but still - i consider myself as a newbie. I noticed i havent really looked around in this forum until now - theres actually some pretty good stuff on the other threads too. So i thought i'd do an introduction post about myself too My name is Simo. Currently, im 36 years old, building from a small country called Estonia. Got my first model back in 1997 or so. It was a 50s Ford Thunderbird - probably from monogram or something similar. Built it horribly unpainted with an epoxy glue. Loved every bit of it. After that, i got another Willis jeep model - cant really remember much about it except it was just as awsome to build as the Thunderbird. I also built some ships (also pretty horribly) along the way, but wasnt really my cup of tea. The building part was still awesome to do. I didnt build any models after that until about 15 years ago i tried to build some cars. I've always been a car guy so this was my way of combining two hobbies. Didnt know anything about painting or sanding different grits or different tools etc. Just grabbed some smooth enough sanding paper and cheap spraycans from home depo type stores and went with it. I built a Merc: Tried to do a mustang: An Audi: Some Ferraris: I even had a stash of models Did some experimenting with different paints (and learned the hard way why you should never mix enamel and acrylic paints Did screwed up a lot too. Got a lot of help from my local forums about different things. But life got in the way. Had a son, bought a home, got into other hobbies (motorcycles mostly) etc and i stopped building......... After moving, i sold my stash as a whole. My models went into a dusty box. Up until about a year ago I was really bored at home and decided to pick an old hobby up again and do another build - nothing serious, just a simple build of one of my favorite musclecars of all time - the Superbee. But this time, i decided to do it right. Got myself an airbrush (an expensive one - the Iwata eclipse HP-CS), a cheap shop compressor and some tamiya paints. And i built it (still screwed up a lot) Oh boy was it fun to do. Just some small work here and there over the evenings until it was finished. Took me a month or so to finish. It was so fun that i got myself another kit - the Roadrunner. And built it too: Seeing you guys building some really cool looking models, doing some really skillful stuff that i cant even get my head around made me want to become a member too. So i can try new stuff, learn some pointers from you guys and trying out some stuff myself too. So i got my third model - The Charger. Oh boy was it a tough build. Then my forth one (or maybe fith?) - The mustang And another one: And did some more cool cars: I even did a Ferrari at one point: So, this is where im at Just building my models the way i want them. Right now, i'm trying to piece together an 1966 Impala. You can check it out in here if you like: After that, i might do another Italian exotic - or another muscle - a corvette maybe. Note to self: Always install the exhaust BEFORE glueing the rear axle in place 🙃 Cant believe i missed that. Luckily the exhaust comes in two parts so after a bit of fiddling and some cursing i was able to get them in place. Did scratched up a bit of the underside, but it actually looks kind of cool this way. Might even do some additional scratches after the assembly I also noticed that i havent really posted pictures of the engine bays on my previous builds so i'm trying to do this one differently So, i did some more work on the engine: Installed the belts, starter motor, waterpump etc: Then the alternator, power steering pump and the big ol' AC compressor Not so sure about the black engine block anymore. Maybe i should've done it in hugger orange or red... But too late to change it now Also did some work on the firewall and the radiator stuff:

Sadly nothing. The underside of an interior tub will cover it. Doesnt look too awful, but could definitely be better.

Been busy with work lately so building my models has been on pause lately. Luckily i got some spare time today so did a bit of building The rear suspension is a bit of a pain to install. I had to use the slower drying revell glue for it And testfitting the engine The engine compartment is going to be black

Day 2: Bodywork So, time for some wetsanding. At first, i was thinking of keeping the front bumper in chrome, but wheres the fun in that? So did a bit of masking too. Then a light coat of primer and another wetsanding session Then some more priming After that, it was paintwork time! First, a couple coats of tamiya flat aluminium. Really liked the look of it - might do another kit with it. Then, a couple (a lot!) of coats of tamiya clear red Pretty happy how it turned out
