Engine sitting on top of the wall, tire 9 rows up, WOW. I've read from 4 to 6 injured spectators, some serious. It was a pretty good race until the last lap. I don't know if 'green-white-checker' is a great idea at the plate tracks. Several of the drivers they interviewed said the wreck was on and they just kept their foot in it.
There hasn't been a new NASCAR kit to my knowledge since the AMT COT kits. Those are basically snap kits with no engine so chalk the price increase up to licensing and the general trend these days.
Thanks for all the kind words, I had a difficult time with this one. Two part decals were the biggest problem. I had the first one down and dry (overnight) and when I went to put the second one over it they both would move! They did not react well with Solvaset, the hood spotted and took some touch up. I got very frustrated but finally got them all down.
Mark, the front bumper is OOB chrome, the rear was all dinged and scratched so I soaked it in the purple pond and sprayed it aluminum.
Scott, check with Southernmotorsportshobbies.com. Ronnie has everything you need for virtually any NASCAR project. I've had nothing but great dealings.
I don't think you'll find a kit, there may be someone somewhere making a resin body but I couldn't find it. Your best bet would be to get an AMT COT kit (even though its a Chevy) and modify the nose to look more like a Fusion. The grill and headlights would be decals anyway so it might not be that difficult. There's a thread on here about turning a Chevy into a Dodge, that was a LOT of work. Good luck in your search.
I finally finished this one last night, so much for being done by Christmas!
The interior was no fun, no positive mounting points for anything-not even vague clues. The instructions weren't much help either, typical JoHan. Anyway I'm calling it done, moving on to the next one. Thanks for looking.
What's with the bashing? Drag racing, circle track, dirt, pavement, figure 8, whatever. They all take a special skill set that may or may not transfer to another class. Doesn't make one superior to another.
I'm with Jonathan, you can't judge anything by Daytona-it's an animal all it's own. I personally like the new cars. They're lighter and have less downforce which will put more of the racing back on the drivers.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. I wanted a plain jane color, this is gloss khaki Rustoleum. I didn't care for it much at first either but it kind of grows on you.
