What did you see on the road today?
Falcon Ranchero replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Some camping trip sightings. Saw an old '80s Chev plow truck parked behind a store on the highway, but then also saw a beautiful 1972 Suburban at Sand River (roadside rapids attraction) that I have seen at car shows back in town. And a '34 Ford coupe was camped out at the campground; an older couple came from southern Ontario drove just that car all the way up here and then are heading back. The guy said he built 20 of those an then finally built one for himself, as was this car. -

Saw this nice two-door barge on Monday, a circa 1977 Chrysler New Yorker. Saw it in the same spot two years or so ago, but finally got a photo. -

What Did You See In Your Yard Today?

The crows around here are especially vicious, all through spring they were raiding grackle nests of eggs and chicks. -
What Did You See In Your Yard Today?

Today was a sad day in the yard. This robin fledgling here in the video was perched on the wheel of the recycleing bin. About an our later he made his way over to the sill of one of the basement windows. After another hour I heard a ruckus outside, and almost a scream of some sort. Look out the window and this robin was being killed by a crow. Rushed out there to see if I could get the crow off, but as soon as I stepped out on the deck the crow picked it up in its beak and flew away with it. Just two hours prior this bird in the video was alive and just like that it was killed. Kinda sad now but that's just how nature is I guess. Bird Rob.mp4 -

Ah yes I see; the only 70s El Camino we have in town here is actually a â74 GMC Sprint. Those round headlights definitely look better than the stacked. -

That is a very nice El Camino, looks good -
That is a very good idea, never wouldâve thought of that. Hopefully they sell those around here, donât recall actually seeing an eBay gift card at the store but my just havenât been paying attention.

Definitley the show stopper of the day. Big fan of the '60 full-size Plymouths. Interesting story about your all original Chevelle; my friend just last year bought an all-original '69 Chrysler Newport. He's been driving it to highschool these past months. Has an 8-track player in it and buncha 8-tracks too.

Wasn't really paying too much attention to how secure it was but now that you mention it, it looks like the front is just loose. And the whole rear tie-down does look quite sketchy. But if it gets the truck home in one piece it must've worked for them. -

I have heard of that. We actually thought the guy who did the pipes on the car was going to make them come out the sides but he ended up putting them over the rear diff and out the back. They were also cut at the end on a downward angle mimicking what the exhaust tips look like. They do fit the pipe, but won't make it past the angle cut and my dad doesn't want the exhaust pipes cut at the end just to make those tips fit. Might end up actually shining up the end of the actual exhaust pipes, but we'll see what happens. On another note, the wheel opening trim came and they look real nice. Odd though the holes in the fender where you screw those trims on are present on the front fenders but there are no holes on the rears so we have to drill some new holes. Must've been filled over during the restoration, though I know one quarter panel was replaced at one point. -
Thought I'd bring this thread out again; been a while.

Holy detail! That is outstanding. Very nice Galaxie and the colour is great.

Thanks for all the good advice. I'd probably stick to cheap cheap cheap purchases if I do end up being able to order from eBay. Probably wouldn't bid on anything, rather just stick to items that are plainly being sold to whoever comes first. Right now I'm just trying to convince my dad to order a $14 1960 Plymouth sales brochure from a 99% rated seller that is only one province over so we'll see how that goes. No credit card for myself and even if I did have one it is a certain gaurentee my parents wouldn't let me use it for eBay until I'm moved out and I can do whatever.

Just found out the wheel opening trim for the Highway Star has been delivered, so that's awesome. Also those chrome exhaust tips didn't work out so we'll just have to return them and find something else. -
Yeah I was really glad to have found this one; a couple months ago there was one for sale here in town, $25 bucks also unbuilt and complete, but the ad was posted two weeks before I saw it and then I missed out on it so when this one came up I couldn't pass it up.

I've heard tell that one source of kits modelers use is eBay, and I've began looking more so myself and have seen quite a few things I'd like to order. Though I did find out you actually don't need an account to buy stuff, my dad is skeptical of ordering off there for credit card safety reasons. Might be a silly question but is eBay safe to order from? I must admit I am mildly unsure after hearing some scam stories from eBay so if there's any tips on how to know for sure an ad is genuine, that would be great to know.
