  1. I don't know what that beautiful piece of machinery is, but now I actually want one.
  2. Beautiful sunny morning, already above 10 degrees (celsius). But the weather channel says 80% rain right now, into the aft, and sun in the evening, so not actually sure why the sun's out now, but it is quite pleasant.
  3. Wow some of you guys have loads of kits stashed away. I basically have no stash. When I first started building, I guess technically my dad had a very small stash of kits. But then I built all of them. And then when I ran out of kits in that "stash" I just started buying usually one at a time and I typically build it right away. I have a large stash of built kits, but essentially zero unbuilt kits as a stash. That being said I have a few kits I got from a cousin who didn't really have the knack for building kits, that I would never build and have so far just used them for extra parts. Namely a glue-bomb '68 Corvette L88, an unbuilt 2012 Vette, an unbuilt '97 Mustang (I think it's a '97) that was missing a whole lot of things already, including the box, and a '92 Ferrari Testarossa left over from my dad's initial stash; the only one from that stash that I never built. 25 cents at a garage sale I guess he couldn't pass that up.
  4. That does seem quite overwhelming; I typically never do more than two; and usually the other one is quite easy; like when I did the '66 T-bird and '57 Chevy in late December, the 'bird was new out the box, but the chev was just a snap-tite that I re-built. And then again with my '57 Chrysler and '59 Lincoln; the '57 was a secondhand that needed to be saved (lotta work) and the Lincoln was another easy snap-tite. Also when I did the '61 Galaxie conversion to a Meteor, I was also working on prepping my '63 Nova (essentially a snap-tite) wagon for a re-paint. And just now with the Monkeemobile, I've been also working on re-doing my '67 Charger after the horrible spray job it recieved in Feb. 2022. I would never do two new out the box kits at once, let alone 3-4, but I can do some fixes on near complete builds while also building one from scratch.
  5. That really looks cool; I still have yet to do a rusty model car.
  6. Never saw the whole movie, but I like the '59 Caddy in The Deer Hunter 1978. This was the scene I remember when I kinda saw this movie as a younger kid; my parents were watching it I guess I just happened into the room when it was on. Also this put me onto '59 Cadillacs.
  7. Almost forgot, my dad's father had a '76 Plymouth Arrow. Not the car but it looked just like this one exactly. My dad wasn't ever sure why he actually bought the car; I guess a co-worker sold it to him and he bought it but only had it for a matter of months. Maybe a year. And continuing the yellow theme, he also had a 1979 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park, that he bought down in southern Ont. My dad remembered going with him to get the car. Then one day his dad was driving home from the steel plant one day, alone in the family truckster, and though to himself "what the hell am I doing" and then sold the wagon away. Not the real photo of the car but it looked exactly like this:
  8. Can't technically be part of this thread yet; (though I do hope so very soon) but people in my family had nice first cars. Not too many photos of them, but I can list them: My grandfather (mom's side) had a '51 Ford he got in 1958 right after he got his driver's lisence. My grandfather (dad's side) I think he had a '40 Ford; is what my Great Uncle told me. My aunt (mom's side) won a brand new '79 Trans Am and a trip to Las Vagas. My dad; never had a car; first vehicle was an '84 Ford Ranger, and then a series of Nissans, and now our Toyota Tacoma. My mom; 1988 Olds Delta 88, or "The 88 88". It was white. A few more people I'd have to ask but I just hope to also have my own vehicle; like what Chris said above there, I want to get an old car for my first ride also.
  9. Cool build; not the greatest quality, but came out nice. Used different tires.
  10. Pulling into Walmart today. 1965 New Yorker. The photo here was actually taken last fall, but this is the actual car I saw. Though this was the first time I saw it in person since my mom had actually seen it first last fall and took this photo. Real nice car. Never goes to car shows. Only been seen at Walmart. Some old dude was a driving it.
  11. Looks good; we got one here in town; not sure if it’s a clone or the real deal, but it looks just like this model.
  12. Too late for us in our 'hood. We had an ongoing situation with the house directly across from us. Not going to say much, but they had a dog that would just never shut up. like ever. And we always just turned the other way and not make a big deal. But then one day, 2 years ago now I think, me and my dad were out in the backyard working on my 1971 Skyline bicycle, and i guess the people 'cross the street were going for a walk down the street and then they left the dog in their house, with the windows open. Non-stop barking for 20 minutes. The bylaw is 10 before you can actually have the police interviene. So by that time they came back and my dad was just not having it, and he went over there and unfortunatley an argument occured. Then a bit afer he went back to apologize but they just wouldn't have it and then they argued again. So to this day it's still no good even now that the dog has recently passed. But the other thing is that my dad had talked to them before and they were nice about it and even bought a barking collar for the dog. But i guess they just got tired of it or something and all hell done broke loose that one day.
  13. It turns out they are those faux rims hubcaps. Had no idea. Those fake rims were probably a ploy to deter hubcap stealers. If I was one (not saying I go around with a flathead screwdriver and pry off hubcaps) I would totally have been fooled.
  14. Get this. So a couple weeks back my dad ordered some nice white letter B F Goodrich tires for the truck. And then today he brought the truck in to get those tires put on the rims and then back on the truck. Later in the day comes to pick me up from my grandmas house and I notice there’s still black wall tires on the truck. He then told me the workers there put the tires on backwards. Like the whole reason he got white letters was to have the white letters showing. And those were expensive tires. They didn’t ask which side of the tire was to be shown, and my dad just assumed since he had inquired about some different white letter tires there before settling on these ones and so you’d think they’d know that of course he’d want the white letters facing out. So now he’s gotta go through all that again to get the tires facing out the right way. Bummed out cause I was totally hoping to see some sporty tires on the truck. Oh well not today.
  15. Lotsa nice chrome dress up for the engine, plus those pipes stickin out of the hood as seen on the box.
  16. Turns out my favourite '66 Dodge Charger rims are actually those hubcaps/faux rims. Though they do look extremely similar to the '66 Chevelle rims (which I think are actually rims not hubcaps though I could be wrong). All I'd need is a bigger Fratzog to put in the center and I could use those Chevelle rims on the '66 Charger.
  17. Stock '69 XL GT rims also grab my fancy
